Thanks Ian and Gary I was looking foward to finishing the saladin, but things do happen that are out of our control. But it's death will not be in vain and plan to use some of the components from the last project on this one.

Thanks for the comments. I got the basics of what I wanted and the basic story is there. I do think the base is too big, but it was originally designed to hold a few more figures. To be honest, if I could have found some decent looking/priced civilians I would have placed it in a village.

The basic story is a group of Somali soldiers engage a group of Ethiopian militia. They scatter the militia, but manage to capture one of them. They are questioning him about the whereabouts of his comrades.

Anyway, I'll try to get some pictures taken for the Gallery. It was a fun little build and an enjoyable campaign.

Well just a small update. I’m going to build this as a T-72B Model 1985 which doesn’t have the ERA blocks as I want to show the anti-radiation layer being faded more than the rest of the paint on the tank. I’ve replaced a few parts from Voyager which includes new grenade launchers, antenna base and coax 7.62mm. I’ve added a wire conduit for the launcher and attached two of three stowage bins. One cool thing about the miniarm kit is that it comes with a metal barrel from RB.

Here is just a small update; I’ve actually made more progress since these photos were taken. I’ve been having problems with photobucket and using these photos for test purposes to see if it’s working now. I’ve completed most of the turret and still need to finish up the barrel. I’ve also started working on the rest of the hull. I’ve also have a small dio in progress that I will take pictures of later today. The figures are a mixture of Tank, Masterclub, and Evolution.

Hi Chris,
Awesome looking beastie for sure!! How is the miniarm conversion set for it? I have some of their stuff for my 55, which I love except for their tracks which have been a real pain in the a$$, but not sure if that is the tracks fault or my no skill !!
Would you recommend those figures?? Are they more Astan type uniform of Chechen era??
Cheers Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for the comments The miniarm set is awsome and some of the best after market stuff for russian armor. The direction can be a bit vague in some areas and a few small minor parts were broken in the kit, but still no real problems.

As for the figures, get some if you can. The details a very crisp and prices are not too bad....well at least for the masterclub figures. Now the masterclub figures were list as being for Afghanistan, but the uniforms and gear are really used during the 90's and will work for the chechan wars.

Thanks guys for looking and commenting.

Well as promised here is my diorama layout I’m working on. The concept is a Georgian tank with Russian merc’s passing by an abandoned school house while a couple of kids look on as everyone goes by. The idea is the even innonce is lost during the horrors of war. I still have ways to go before I can start painting as I need to order some new paint. I’m also in the middle of building the smaller details for the dio.

Work I did yesterday.

The rocket launcher is just placed there for the moment as I still need to build the frame to hold it in place. The meng kit is not bad but I think the styrene is very soft, now I just need to find some suitable, non-driver figures to fit.

Hi Guys,
I am seeing some great looking work going on!!! I have to admit that it looks like I suck as a leader as it doesn't look like I am even going to get close to finishing!!
I will try & post what progress shots I have by the weekend once I can get the photos re-sized, once I get the new computer all sorted out.
Please keep up the great work!!
Cheers Mike

Hi Mike, you do not suck as a leader. Just because you build at the speed a sloth runs at don´t mean nothin´. I had a great time on this one and you kept us all at it. As far as I´m concerned you´re a cool leader, and one we can have fun with

Now you get you that Second hand slappers campaign up and running, I´m sure a lot of us will join you there

Hi Paul,
Thank you very much for the kind words & cheer leading squad, but as I have now just discovered that sloths can actually run I am really buggered!!
I am trying to clone Usan Bolt at the moment & if I am half successful, I may just get me 55 done by the time your great T55/ 62 build finishes this time next year!!
Cheers Mike

More work I finished over the weekend, still plenty to do though....

scenic base is getting there just need to paint some dust onto the road along with a long yellow road edge marker and add more rocks to the edge.

The truck just needs the glass wear added along with a libiyan flag and it's nearly finished.
