Don't worry Joel... lurking is certainly allowed!
And Alex and Christopher... thinking about an RC Sherman, with a bit of surgery along with it.
Plus a little surprise thrown in that'll please the wifey.

I'm not really the quiet lurker type. But my build certainly won't be as interesting to follow. My goal is always the same. To build the best OOB model that I can.

Here's the two. The M4A1E8 is a combination of Dragons M51 and spare parts. I had purchased Dragon's M4A1 (76) "Operation Cobra" and an M4A3E8 last week to bash but then the same guy listed the M51 so I didn't have to rob two kits any longer. M4A1E8 consists mostly of M51 Chassis, running gear and upper hull with engine decking, rear plate and 76mm turret from my spares box. These kits are so interchangable now a days that you can't really call it kitbashing though.... I like kit mixing : ) And I still have 2 new Shermans added to my stash!

Well its been a long while since either I joined a campaign or even posted here on Armorama. I'm knocking out 2 goals in one.
I'm building a M4A3E8 that was assigned to the tank company of the 17th Infantry Regiment (Buffalo) during the Korean War. The below photo was taken during the Regiment's push to the Yalu River.
The unique history and part of these tanks was that they stenciled the Regiment's motto/ mascot the American Buffalo. They along with the regiment would be the northern most positioned UN forces prior to the Chinese entering the war. They would be deployed on the Yalu River (border between N. Korea and China)

Nice choice Edward. I have never seen that insignia on a Sherman before, probably because there isn't much on the Korean War with Shermans in my library.
Should be interesting and thanks for joining up!

Okay guys, don't freak out nor think I am cheaping things but this is ONE of my entries for the Sherman Campaign.
My wife gave me this last year for Valentines day as she knows how much I love Shermans and when she learned I was going to lead a Campaign with them she wanted to see me build it.
This is a person who has stayed by my side for over 30 years and 20 of it me being sick. Along with her own bout with Cancer, she still helped through all my shortcomings and setbacks.
So I will have something to go along with this as it will be a rather quick and easy build. I mean, I just looked through it and there's no cutting from the sprues required!
I mean afterall it's all about having some fun.

Jeff,
Should be interesting to see your weathering and stowage choices on this build.
Seriously though, good for you for keeping what we do in perspective with what (and who) is important!

Mike, that's a very interesting kit bash. Being somewhat new to the armor modeling (2 +years), it never occurred to me that some times things could be that straight forward rather then always so complex in nature. Looking forward to seeing both Shermans painted and weathered.

Jeff, looking forward to seeing your Best Lock Sherman finished. Coming from your wife, it deserved to be in your display cabinet.
We're also married for 30 years, and while my wife really has no interest in my modeling (nor my photography hobby), she's been on my side through 2 bouts of cancer, a major heart attack, and eye retina disease. I guess I'm just lucky to have made it through all of that, and still be able to have the time, and funds for two hobbies these days.

Here is some of my progress
I didn't know wether to cut a loader's hatch because, any photographs I have of Israeli M4A4Ts they have a loaders hatch but walkarounds of French M4A4Ts have none.
I started to cut the hatch out, I used a Dragon loaders from M50 kit as a template.
I added the Allround vision cupola from the same Dragon kit.

I had to do something like that with the turret for one of my 1/16 projects
but never again! Next time I'll just replace the whole roof!
And Joel buddy, you sound like you deserve a Purple Heart after all you've been through. But I bet I still got you covered.

Wow. I'm impressed with how many builds have started. It looks like we're going to have some fine builds with this campaign.
