Hi Jeff,
I thought from your last post you had overtaken me there
Paul
Oh, behave there!
If I could have this kind of result I'd quit while I was ahead!
Thanks for the tips and advice guys.

Was not sure I was going to get this one done, but almost there
needs a little more tone work on the skirts
and glue down those tow cables.

Jeff,
Thanks, I am not thrilled with the 'final' look.. all the way through it looked like a panther, until the end.. skirts and fenders and now its a king tiger.. oh well.
Excuse to build another one I guess.
The too vivid paint toned down nicely with the filters. It still needs some dust but other than that we're done.

Yeah, I know. The barrel, the mantlet and side fenders PLUS those full width combat tracks make it look like a King Tiger.
Which is why I went with Mode 1 and added transport tracks, omitted the fenders and the light on the glacis and the armored shields over the mufflers.
I know it's not a Panther II and it was to share many KT parts but I think it must look more like a Panther and let the E-75 look like a King Tiger.
Which I must get now!
Glad I saved this Campaign... all of these builds are so HAWT and you guys really made it a success!
Thanks guys!

Mike thats a cool looker you've made there. I love the disc camo I shall have to try your method out.
Jeff you are so right with what you say about the E50 and 75.
That is also the reason why I left the skirts off of my version and, added a bow MG, the flame suppressors from a Panther
kit and the Gun cleaning equipment holding tube. I thinks I might have to do another one myself
Well here you have some more turret madness, just need to paint a couple of small details and add the ammo and then I'll call the turret done :-
I must admit the kit looked like a nightmare to do in 2 weeks
, but it isn't that bad at all, you just need to stick at it and build partly backwards and keep your nerves.

I hope that the contents will be easy to see, like leaving the roof 'loose' so you can show off that hard work.

annndddd.. done.
BEFORE the orig. deadline, not the usual for me.
my photo setup is not great, nor is my camera but I like the 'leaky hub' effect from pigments and AK's engine oil.
not too many cheeps here but dusty and a little bit of streaking
the dust effect around the cupola are not quite dry here
the buisness end.. and yes I know I left the scopes off on purpose. IF it ever gets a base it will be a factory back lot, like in Weathering Magazine 1
grey filter on the engine decking more pronounced than the rest of the hull, as if this component has sat out longer than others. Flicked AK engine oil and fuel stains lightly over the rear deck too, not too obvious w this camera...
Not quite sure I pulled it off. Oh well, it was a fun little build.

Thanks Jeff !!
Just to clear things out, the Galleries were stacking up, many of them with similar subjects, so it was starting to become a small nightmare for users and administrators so we agreed to set up a 2013 Campaign Gallery page for those new starting Campaigns.
If you can't find a Campaign Gallery on the 2013-Campaign Gallery page it's on the 2012 for sure.
In each Campaign thread just after the kick-off date there is a post with the Gallery link.
Nice builds guys !
Looks like with have a E-50 brigade building up ...

Oh, I'm sorry! Was I not the one to answer that?
I just thought since I was leading the Campaign and a question was asked it was my responsibility.
Don't want to step on any toes!
My eyes are so burnt out trimming and cementing all of those tiny periscopes!

Yes it was...
Just wanted to explain why we have 2 Gallery threads
Don't forget to paint those periscopes with some Tamyia clear Blue or clear Red , it's hardly visible but it looks great.

I have some Tamiya Clear Green (X-25) and will paint the surface of them just like I used on my 1/16 Panther.
I'll paint over the clear parts with the tanks base color but will then use the X-25 just like a normal application of paint and it will give it a dark, glass-like appearance.
To take advantage of the clear parts one would have to paint them and then install them AFTER the tank was painted, and the with commanders copula THAT isn't going to happen.
Glad to see one more Paper Panzer built Mike.
Yours is exceptional!

Jeff, the turret shell can be either left unglued or can be glued in pos., the mantlet/barrel assembly can also stay removeable as these are a very tight fit.
One thing I have noticed today is the fact that I have no idea where the exhaust is
.
Any ideas anyone?

Already started (and nearly done) before this campaign started but the mojo for paper panzers is high so E-25 is all but done now.
the tracks are garbage, but I'm not going to invest in aftermarket.
they still need pigment as well
head on
left side
really liking the rust stipple effect here, needs pigments but I'm not going to monkey with this too much

Paul:
The exhaust most likely will run under one of the sponsons, just above the tracks (probably the right side) and then out the back just above the idler wheel.
Let me know if it's different!

That's just it Jeff, there is no exaust
.
I also thought about adding one or maybe two under the sponsons and out at the back, something like the Hummel or Nashorn.
I have just checked my Italeri Porsche Tiger from 1997, there is also no exhaust, unless the large meshed box at the back of the hull has this function
. But that surely cannot be right
.
Well a tank without an exhaust is like a toilet without a seat
, I'm going to go with the two sponsons idea.
Now to get them in there
Paul
Edit:
Mike where the hell do you get these camo ideas, that E25 is wild.

Well I just started thinking, the sprockets are driven by electric motors... right?
So there would only be a small engine for charging... right?
So maybe no "real" exhaust then? I haven't done any research on the chassis, just a few books.
EDIT:
From Wiki...
"The two Porsche air cooled engines in each vehicle were replaced by two 300 PS (296 hp; 221 kW) Maybach HL 120 TRM engines. The engines drove electric generators, which in turn powered electric motors connected to the rear sprockets. The electric motors also acted as the vehicle's steering unit. This "petrol-electrical" drive delivered 0.11 km/l off road and 0.15 km/l on road at a maximum speed of 10 km/h off road and 30 km/h on road. Besides the high fuel consumption and the poor performance the drive system was also maintenance-intensive; the sprockets needed to be changed every 500 km. Porsche had experience of this form of petrol-electric transmission extending back to 1901, when he designed a car that used it."

Aaaagh! ho..sh.. I had totally forgotten all of that.
I even explained the workings of the Elephant / Ferdinand to my dad about 15 years ago. I'm getting old and burned out, thats it, I need a break. After this build ..... and the other 15 campaigns

It's a paper panzer but was 85% complete before the campaign, done now.
E-25 ootb, with little mg turret and no skirts.
The muffler I was working on adding pigments to, I may scrub away some of that fresh rust or stipple over it w darker stuff.
the kit rubber bands are pretty crummy and really tight, but for now done is done.

Okay... on the E-50 PE parts. The 3 left over gas detectors are extra, right?
They are only on the turret? I looked everywhere and I am a bit lost why they included the 3 different sized parts and the PE
IS labeled E-50.
I think we need to start up an
E-50 Club.

I am not sure but 5.3.27 from Getmany's Panther Tank, A Quest for Combat Supremacy says " five boxes for gas mask filters, two breathing tube holders, three mounts on yhe turret roof, and a metal box in the turret to store the detectors"
So I guess you have some spares for another project.
As for our own E-50 unit, boy would the Sgt be pissed off, we have no standard paint scheme....
