Hi Tat Baqui,

Thats an brilliant little kit!

The plastic fences are a bit crude on the base though and look way better replaced with some stained balsa wood (real wood and all that).

If I remember the gun mantlet on the T-34 can be a bit troublesome too but otherwise its nice build i look forward to seeing your progress!

Thanks
Dan

Thanks for the welcome JClapp -- wasn't aware that 1/76 has yet to be represented. Will do my best on this.

Dan, thanks for the tips -- will have them under consideration.

I'll be posting pics as I go along.

All the best to the campaigners!

Hello,

For these old kits, its already a given that the tracks would be way off from today's standards. I was also extra careful in handling it because of its age -- but one track still broke in a couple of places. Anyways a bit of wire and all is well again. And since I'm at it, might as well put some sag.

Cheers

howdy everyone.

I got started on this kit today, but I took a photo first. Here are the kit contents.

The box has 2 tanks, but I'm only building 1 for now, the StrumTiger.

Here is the assembly so far.

as you can see its pretty small scale, 1/144

Hi Euan,
Pretty sure its never too late to join a campaign as long as you can finish in time! What are you planning on building?

Nice progress Erhan, Tat and Delbert, looking forward to see these done!

My current progress:

1 Panzer IV done, just 2.5 more ground crawlers and the birdie to paint!
Then the groundwork in this scale!

I second the search for decals though, please post if anyone finds some!

well lots of progress!

Don, that looks great, you have a nice hand with color. the complete group will be impressive.

Hoy Euen, please do enlist, go to this page and click on the enlist button to add your name. The campaign runs to April so there's plenty of time for any number of tiny projects.

Delbert, good to see the little sturmtiger on its wheels. those kits look pretty nice. I hope Dragon eventually makes some British or American tanks in this range.

Tat, I remember well those ugly rubber band tracks, you are doing well with old materiel, the sagging between the return idlers looks excellent.

well, I have made some progress also. Paint is complete on the six Skywarriors, and a coat of gloss enamel. All provided decals are on. No flash numbers were provided so I will print some on clear decal paper - more on that later if anyone is curious to print your own decals, or I can help with missing bits if that's of interest..?

I goofed on the engine inlets though. they need a red ring all around, besides the V warning stripe, which are provides as decals. I inked the rings on with a Sharpy pen, and they looked good, but then I added the decal, and the decal solvent dissolved the Sharpy ink and it bled everywhere. I did four engines before I realized I had a problem. the V stripes are ruined.
I can wash the ink off the others and do the V stripes first, then ink on the rings after they are dry.

four of the six will have their wings tips folded.

Thanks for your comments, guys. Some pics on where its at right now. Been fiddling around the base, to improve on things such as the fence that Dan mentioned earlier.

I thought a discarded matchbox could provide good material for the fence (a matchbox for a Matchbox! )

Right now my thoughts are on the molded fence on the base. Maybe a little re-positioning is in order?

Cheers

Tatbaqui, the lumber cut from that matchbox looks pretty nice. Will you replace the molded bits on the base with more of the real wood?

Tom good to see another box opened

Ive gotten the cockpit canopies finished on the skywarriors.

it really does look like a scene in the desert

Thanks Jonathan -- yes, I've taken out the molded bits following my last posting. Well, am no landscape artist, as I had to do it over and over. Anyways I think I've gotten it to a point that I hope is good enough. Will be posting pics as soon as I get the chance. My compliments to your canopy work -- I doubt if I can do the same at that scale. All the best to you and everyone for the holidays, Tat

Very nice little airliner kit Tinbanger, glad you could join, and with another almost unheard of model building scale!

I have finished the Skywarriors today.

I'll take some nice gallery pics later if the sun ever comes out again. The P-3 in the background is a 1:400 Dragon diecast collector model. I have a 1:400 airport under construction so all these are actually part of a larger project.

I'll carry on building things for this campaign until the last day. next on the pile is this not very impressive Minicraft kit-

The box art shows the landing gear very prominently, and landing canards, and drooped nose, but none of that stuff is to be found in the box, only a stand for posing the model in flight. Well we'll just see.

Thanks Jesper. I've taken out the fences originally molded on the base; added some bits from the spares box. Some more groundwork to tie it all together, and I should be moving to paint prep stage.

Happy holidays!

Tat

OT: Typically how old are those 1/76 Fujimi kits -- 70's...80's? (I am considering it as an entry for another build)

Happy new year guys!

Jonathan amazing work on those tiny planes the cockpits look great, i have to keep reminding myself that they are 1/350!

Also thanks for the link too! As I don't have immediate plans for any more 1/144 tanks after this so I've decided not to get decals as I would only use 1 set on a sheet of 10 or more so it would be a bit of a waste.

Might try a bit of masking/ freehand

Tat great job on that kit its really coming along!
Not related to the campaign but heres my diorama using the same base

Thanks

Thanks Dan, and Happy New Year!

Nice use of the base you have there -- thanks for sharing. I see that you've also re-positioned the fence. It also gives me an idea on extending the base, as the T34's rear butts out (pun intended) . Hmmmm...

I had some time yesterday to fiddle with the base. I should finalize its build this week. Paint-wise, the next thing I need to figure out is the winter landscape.

Will be posting update pics later.

Cheers,

Tat

Howdy Y'all:
I finished the Dragon 1/144 Jagdpanzer IV L/48. This image was my inspiration.

Here is where I was at this morning.

Here is the finished model.

This was a fun campaign, hope there is something like it again soon. I can't wait to see the rest of the models.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Lakota, man that looks great!

I build mostly 1/144, so I'll be back for any future campaigns in this scale as well.
There are many interesting 1/144 AFV kits available at HLJ

Thanks for the info Jonathan. I'm trying to clear out a bunch of my kits so I liked this campaign. It also helped me get a "build" completed instead of selling off a kit I bought because I liked it. I look forward to the next campaign and it's fun watching others build.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"
