Now that just leaves me with a closed in, turret-less Panzer IV to find something to do with.
Well, you _could_ turn it into the German equivalent of a Kangaroo, i.e. an armoured infantry carrier.
Clean up the turret race, add a bare bones interior and mount an MG42 with a SDKFZ 251 shield on the coaming and you've got a pretty interesting Eastern Front machine.

Not a bad idea Paul. I thought about doign somethign like that using an old Hummel or Nashorn chassis. I'd probably go more for an urban combat role. Instead of open-topped, maybe give it an enclosed superstructure. Add MG ports to the sides. I've got another 7.5cm light gun. Maybe put that on top. Maybe even try to fab up a coax MG to go with it.

Slowly gettin' there. The AFV Club kit fits quite well, but man, some of those small parts are pushing my reading glasses to the limit. Might be time to break down and buy an optivisor.

Great build, Graeme! In fact, that looks very plausible to the GCV requirement!

Alex: Very sweet!
Graeme: That is looking excellent! Don't feel bad about getting an optivisor, think of it as taking care of your eyes by not over-stressing them rather than looking at it as a sign of aging

Graeme, It's looking great...and looks very feasible as a real vehicle.
Jeremy, I think it's going to be pretty straightforward to switch it to the RSO. I'll probably return the launcher back to its original design. I'm going to have to cut down the bed so the elevation/traverse mechnisms can be used.. Maybe give it a low bezel edge. I've got the windshield protective plates from the ICM kit so I'll try to use those for the RSO. I'll probably wait until starting it. I've got a full plate at the moment.

Alex: No worries, don't overextend yourself. A bevel sounds very interesting by the way.
Peter: Awesome! Whatever works, tri 1/40 as well if you can find any.

Graeme,
Do you know if United Defence widened the Stryker upper hull or narrowed the Bradley lower hull to make their mock-up? I ask because it appears that the difference in width apparent on your model isn't on the UD mock-up. Otherwise your model look pretty darned close to the real thing, dude.

Jeremy, changing the launcher to the RSO is a weekend project at best. [knock on wood]. I'm guessing that the RSO could pull the ammo trailer as well.
I'm still shooting to try to do my Running Man/Deathrace Race Car later in the year. The next few months are pretty tight for me. I love building stuff like this and probably would be building it anyway. I might as well share the work. There's still a lot of year left and I've got way too many ideas running around in my head.

AFAIK Paul, the Tracked Stryker uses a unique lower hull. I used a bradley cause it was close in width, but about a scale 1-foot too short.
The styker upper is actually an exact match for the width of the Bradley lower, except for the fender overhang (see my WIP pic earlier in the thread, I didn;t have to modify the width of the Brad at all).
Also note the T.S. has a bulged engine deck to accom a new powerpack.

Paint? It's probably the stuff that I manage to get on everything except the kit

Been busy on other things, so not much work on the Sherman lately, but I have done the basic construction on the base.
Paint next.

Jeremy,
After I get some other stuff caught up I'll try to work on soem smaller projects like the Katyusha moved to the Styer RSO and another project I have about adding a nebelwerfer launcher to a Panzer 4/J. I already have two projects in the gallery but maybe it'll help stir things up a bit.

Jeremy,
Confession time,
I'm not very good at multitasking
I have a couple of other projects, that all going well should be completed within a month or so and then I will be able to get on with this campaign (SWMBO willing)
cheers
David
