Doesn't matter what you use to build. That'd be a really nasty campaign; you can only use X, X and X to build your diorama!

Haha yeah no doubt hey. Sorry for the poor spelling too . I am using my cell phone for most of my armourama and pictures and i get typing a bit fast and then hit post haha

5 days left...

and there's a little progress on the Bronco.

Maybe I change the driver figure, but the bodyworks are done.
Now I have to add the seat for the rear gunner.
And - of course - the rear gun...

Right, I've had a bit of an accident today. My car ended up up-side-down in a field. I'm fine but I'll be dropping all campaigns. I'll also need to find someone to take over my 'Replacement!' campaign.

I'll still pop in on a couple campaigns but as far as I know right now I haven't got money to be spending on plastic tanks.

Thomas: the truck is looking great.

Chris: Tough break. Glad you are OK. Keep checking in as it doesn't cost anything for that.

That's really bad news, Chris.
But most important: You're fine.

Were icy streets the reason for your accident?

Thomas

I think I'm physically obligated to check in at least on EOD. I'd hate myself for missing the weird stuff that's going to come through here.

Thomas, no ice or snow, I don't live in that part of California. Just damp roads. I think I remember reading that the movie was coming out. Looks decent enough, though more not-quite-zombies like 28 Days Later. I'm I screwed up for laughing when the cop gets run over by the truck?

The word on WWZ is that it breaks from the book on several layers. For example the zombies are runners and the story revolves around a central character. In the book they were lumbering dead and the story was a collection of stories and accounts.

I am not going to pretend to know how this one will go. I think it might be a decent zombie flick, but fans of the original book might not be happy.

Until now everything's fine - and 13 hours to go...
... at least from the German point of view

Well, as promised I want to tell you my background story for the Campaign project.

My problem in each end of world scenario is to show the opposition.
It is difficult to find zombie figures in my preferred scale (OK, there are a few in 1:24, but none in 1:32/35) and economic breakdown is difficult to show.

But then I found these models (of an anime-series I have never heard before):
KOTOBUKIYA BORDER BREAK:

These "robots" are in 1:35 scale, so they are a perfect combination with the usual 1:32 and 1:35 stuff...
And they have movable joints, so I can place him anyway I want

My project is inspired (or should I say: copied) from current alien invasion movies like "falling skies" and books like "David Weber - Out of the dark"
- a classic "the world is occupied by some bad ass aliens, but there still is resistance" scenario.

Background and basic idea is:
All the modern electronic equipment was deactivated by some massive EMPs, so only low-tech devices survived or could be repaired.
The Aliens use (amongst others) some humanoid robots for patrolling and hunting purposes.

I want to show such a robot chasing the runaway Ford Bronco which is leading his pursuer into an ambush which is laid in some narrow city streets.

So I have to paint around 8 soldiers in leftover and mixed uniforms (you have to take whatever you get), the Bronco, the Robot, the street and houses (including interior) and some random stuff on the street - if time allows.

I suppose that will keep me busy for the next 6 to 8 months.

I'll keep you posted...

Thomas

Paul, I was watching the garbage about the apocalypse on History last night and that gave me the idea for the photo.

Thomas, looks cool. Plenty of good EoD ideas from anime.

Chris: nice photo! Today's Apocalypse was brought to us by the Mayans, rather than Nostradamas. Still funny though!

Thomas: nice concepts. Looking forward to your scene.

I know that Zon. As I told Thomas I was watching the garbage on History and they basically alluded to him predicting the end of the world because his prophesies stopped. And people believe he predicted things like 9/11, etc. etc. etc. Funny thing is Nostradamus never predicted the end of the world. Though the idea of him 'predicting' doomsday by his writings ending still sounds far more credible than a calendar that was left unfinished by a bunch of cannibals who believe in magic/voodoo and spirits.

Would you have preferred if I used a picture like this instead?

Phil, why can't you start? Are you looking for ANOTHER tank to add to the tank/city/cargo beast?

I'm baaaaack Actually, I never left. Since joining this carnival of nut jobs I've been going back and reading all the posts from the very beginning. At 17 pages, even before we get started building shows just how much everyone is into this End of Days stuff
Everyone has had some great input. I especially liked the idea of a short back-story to explain the vehicle or scene that we create.
Having read everything that people have been writing, I've changed my mind about a half dozen times as to what and why I am doing something. I have decided to go ahead with the Monogram Snaptite tanker truck in 1/32 scale, but that is about the only thing that has remained the same. (Back story forth coming)
As for what I am using for this dio, the truck, of course, some Live Resin weapons and (I think) Trumpeters PMC VIP team,Trumpeters US Soldiers Logistic team and Masterbox's Iraqi Events Insurgents. A nice mixture of combat and civilian clothes, plus the logistic team has 2 girls in it.

Now, onto other stuff...
@Chris, man I hated to hear about the accident. I hope you are feeling better soon and can get back into the modeling swing again.
@Alex, WWZ, the book was done as a first person narrative by a reporter a few years after the apocalypse, as he traveled North America interviewing survivors. Kind tough to make an interesting film from that. This thing looks to be an insiders view of the events the book talks about as they happened.

Just so you know, Day of the Dead (and it's remake), Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Zombie Town, and All of the Resident Evil films are favorites of mine, as is Walking Dead on tv.

Well, I think I've "prattled on" long enough for now, All I can tell you is "I'll be back"

Chris: maybe that Mayan image as the base of the mushroom cloud? Sorry I missed the History channel garbage reference. We gave up tv a while back, so I'm a little out of that loop. I still love the image and the Nostradamus reference. Did you create the image, or find it?

I just Googled 'mushroom cloud', it was probably the third photo. I wish my art work was that consistent. I'm more of a theory than practice type person. You don't want to know how long it would take me to isolate just the mushroom cloud from that background. It'd be 22nd, if not the 23rd by the time I finished. Plus the art style isn't anything like the Mayan image.

Thanks Bruce, though I really don't think the accident was that bad, I didn't even have a visible bruise till two days after! Though I think if my car could, or was ever able to talk it'd have a different opinion.....

Phill, Welcome back.

Bruce, Yeah I meant the collection of stories as the interviews/accounts of events. It's hard to tell from the trailer and the rumor mill may be wrong, but the movie appears to be more about a single character placed in a set situation. Mayeb they are looking at possible sequels.

Either way, making a movie out of the book would be tricky. The consensus of the couple of fan websites I read about it suggested doing a WWZ visualization as a series or miniseries on HBO or some other movie channel. Also, it'll be hard to please the fans of the book.

Thomas, So that's what you're up to. Glad to see the variety. I'm planning on going with the alien angle for EOD 3 if we have one. It'll make me finally build that walker and some alien invaders. I want to do one from the perspective of the alien force.

Well seeing as the Mayans were wrong Lol I can get started!!

Now I did not realise that I had bought quite this much!!

The Unimog is for the first project, the IED Gun truck for the news crew on the second project.

Basic idea is the first is a group of survivors out on the scavenge at the back of a shop/warehouse. They are busy unloading their new toy, an robot zombie death machine!! The Unimog is their mobile base of operations.

The dio base as it stands at the moment. Have not done much.

Wow, that's a lot of stuff - reminds me of my desk, when I put everything together.
I see you own the modern street lamps from MIG - that's an item I think I have to get, too.

May I ask you how large your diorama will be?

Cheers

I am not entirely sure jut yet...Hang on it's.......

200x260mm or 8x11.5 inches in old money. The pavement section was left over from my entry for the land rover campaign, but unfortunatly has been broken(last night) for about the fourth time. It will work out ok once I glue it down! The mig street lights are a very recent purchase , they only turned up monday! There is still a few little bits to add but I think I have most of it except the sattelite dish for the news team I am awaiting an order on that one.

Just a quick bit of work done so far!
