The figure should also be wearing a panzer wrap oh well

Looks great Sal.

With Real Life getting in the way, I haven't started the weathering on mine yet. I am thinking of whitewash as though mine has gone through a number of snow storms, being winter camo and all, but being the first attempt at weathering I am nervous I will ruin the whole thing. Anyone got a link to a real easy to follow "Hairspray Method" step by step guide.

I have decided not to weather mine. I am going to call this finished now that I have completed some touchups to it.

This was my first ever campaign that I have completed a tank for, so thank you for the pleasurable group build, and advice all round. Now I have to get my Commonwealth Crusader completed before flying out for USA next Saturday.

So without further ado, I give you my final pictures. Sorry some of them turned out a bit blurry.

I will try and get a good shot to post to the Gallery.

Criticism and advise are always welcome.

Progress on the Marder. About ready to paint. I was going to go for a 2-tone paint scheme but I have decided to stick to 1 color, a mix of Dark and Desert Yellow.

Marder is about done. I would like some advice on how to make it look more rusty and worn. I have acrylics and pastel sticks at my disposal.

well, I just got laid off for thanksgiving (delayed result of the government shutdown and sequestration), so now I seem to have time to actually start building a few kits, which is a nice silver lining!

Let's see if I can get this one done while I enjoy my Deep Space 9 super-marathon:

you should look up how to do 'washes' and 'dry-brushing' for starters.

Hi Guys ... Out of the spur of the moment I glued the hull together on my Tamiya Marder IIIH this week .. Then I saw your posts here .. Is it too late to join in ? I think I can contribute to the campaign, but I understand I did not post an in the box picture...I'll be building it one way or another...No sweat.

Gentlemen,
I have re-read the thread 4 times over the course of the campaign and there is some very nice work here.
Vance, the wheels and tracks already look great!
Sal, your skills improve with every kit.
Brad, You're too late for the "Hairspray Method" but if you look back to Johns' build in this thread you can figure out how to pull it off. Use acrylics on a small area so if you get too heavy-handed you can wipe it off and go at it again. Otherwise, looks good.
As for me life has had me too busy to be very active with the posts. 2013 was not a very good year around here. Sounds like it's been the same as Jeffs.

That said, I was determined to finish a few kits this year.
I started in July with the Marder III from Tamiya and, after looking at the kit, decided to try and restrain myself to a OOB experience (which I did for once. Sound the Trumpets!).
It took a couple of nights to put the kit together and base-coat. Typical Tamiya! Then I went through some pictures in "Armor in the Western Desert" and happened on a few of these. The decals are from the leftover decal box. Then it sat until late September when I had to bust out the airbrush for a work project.
This is as far as I've gone.

So that leaves me to detail paint, weather, paint and add the tracks, and touch up in 24 hours with a bunch of people coming over tomorrow night.
Too close to quit!

Merry Christmas to my Modelling Brothers (and Sisters) in Arms!
I wish for you all a peaceful night and a recharged slush fund (for those of us with Significant Others who don't quite get it)!
Here's my progress so far

Scope glass, then dust it and I'll call it done.
