Hi people, i see summer heat and vacations have taken a toll on our building rate.
Chris your Gustav seems to be coming along nicely. 109s are a favorite subject for me so i'm really interested to see it painted and with those decals on.
I made some progress with my Tiran. The hull is ready, added a few things and now it is time for the turret. Wheels will be placed last since the modification required to be done on the sprockets means that all of the wheels need to be realigned.
I'd like to give a piece of info at this point for those that have this kit and have not built it yet. ( I know this kit is not exactly popular, but with a small amount of extra work i think it looks good). There are a lot of parts in the kit that are for the Tiran and not for a T55 but for some reason Trumpeter does not show them in the instructions. So take a good look at the sprues and some walkarounds and you will find in there almost anything you need.

Hi Chris, the 109 is looking real real cool dude I also have
soft spot for that bird and I'm looking forward to seeing the paint and decals go on
Hi John, your making that kit look real great my friend
Just one thing I noticed, shouldn't there be a water can holder
on the front left fender, just forward of the drivers compartment ?
Well this is going to be my build, a captured version of the crusader Mk 1 by the DAK
I'll get some start pics up a little later.

Sal,
I have seen a few pictures of aerosans in German use, but I'm also leaning on a great deal of artistic license. I'm undecided on solid white with dark gray or dunkelgelb underneath or some sort of camo. I'll change out the MG, add some seat cushions. I was thinking about changing out the light but I am thinking more about keeping the original. I might add a second (notek or bosch) light. Mayeb a tow shackle. I plan on having the crew not in the vehicle so that gives me some interior to play with.
I did something similar with a Tamiya Universal Carrier a few years back. I swapped out the Bren gun for a MG42. Replaced the British light for German Bosch lights. Removed the radio. Gave it a nice coat of dunkelgelb and green. Add a stowage box to the front and ammo rack to the rear. I gave it a Fallschirmjager crew and have it pulling a 7.5cm pak. At some point I probably will change the old 7.5 gun for the Dragon 5cm pak I built for the Dragon OOB Campaign.
If no one has any objections, I can post a picture or two of the Carrier.

Okay for those of you who wanted to see the paint job here's the start. Decals are problematic, don't like complex curves and reasonably resistant to setting solutions so the tail decals are a bit of a trial! Still they've dried now and i'll get to work making them conform ... LOL hopefully!

Paul you are correct, there is a water can there and a fire extinguisher too. All of that stuff will be placed last, so i can paint them properly.
That's a nice kit you have there. I was thinking that i maybe go for a 2nd build for this campaign. The Crusader III i originally intended to build in German markings.
Chris your camo looks really good, waiting to see more.
Alex that sounds interesting... i'd like to see that one.

Okay here it is. The Carrier and the pak are both Tamiya kits. The figures are Dragon...pieces taken from their Ardennes and Crete Sets. This is one of my projects that started off as one thing, then evolved through three or four other ideas before getting to this point.

Sorry for the back to back posts.
Here are my starter pictures. As mentioned, it's the Trumpeter kit. I'll probably get started later in the week. They're blurry and were taken a few days ago, so let me know if I need to redo them.

Hi Alex, nice idea there with the Bren carrier
As to your start pics, they're ok.
This is for you all you Pirates on here, you don't need to show a proof of date foto.
I trust you all that you're starting new kits, and if you're not you are only cheating on yourselves
Now lets see some kit building starting up in here after all, the summer break is over and if you haven't got a tan by now then TS, it's too late start on one now
Get cutting and glueing my fellow
Paul

Thanks Paul. The figures are the weakest point, mostly the painting. The posing may look a little odd. The plan was to have the Carrier passing by a knocked out tank. I was going to build the knocked out tank for the Knocked Out Campaign but I ended up pulling out of that one and the diorama was put on hold.
Anyway, I'll try to start the aerosan soon. I'm looking at building some sort of base for it. I'm still debating on the details though. I want it posed parked.

Hi everyone. Things are really ''quiet'' in the forum the last days. Vacations i presume...
More work done on the Tiran, after adding a few details on the turret and the hull, a coat of primer. I will leave it for a couple of days to sit in and on the meanwhile, i will clean all 248 pieces for the tracks which are already cut from the sprues. The only thing that went wrong so far is the fact that the wheels' polycaps refuse to be primered!!!! Both times i tried, with different types of primer, the paint chipped off as soon as they were dry. First time i see that . I'll think of something about this one....hopefully.

John your really going for again aren't you, looks good dude
What paint did you use for the red oxide? And please don't say it was home brew
I have done a little more on my Crusader, the great RB Model MG barrels are too short for this so I had to lengthen them with steel metal rod:
I've added a little breach detail and will add the recuperators too, I have also added 0.3mm plastic card to the turret parts to cover up the holes and mould release marks:
I shall add a little more detail to the turret as the lid is staying open, there will be a figure in there too. Here's the pic up to now:
The Panzer Art resin parts are beautiful, you can literally snap them off their pouring stumps and there is no flash to clean off. Maybe some other resin AM part makers should take a page or two from these guys.

The Crusader is turning out very nicely Paul looking forward to seeing painted and dusted up!
Okay guys and gals I'm calling this one done! I could've dirtied it up a little but I'm working on the fact that it was a new acquisition and with av gas being in short supply wouldn't have done much flying. (At least that's MY story!) So here she is note the upside down stars, this was how they actually painted out the Croatian markings! I used some of the new Humbrol weathering powders and found them easy to use, they adhere quite readily to the surface and mix well when used one on top of the other. The two colours were black smoke and rust, I applied them with a paint brush just dip it in and use it as you would if you were dry brushing. (Which effectively you are!)

Alex that's a very nice kit you have there. I bet you are going to enjoy that one. If i remember correctly Sal recently built it and did a very nice job too!
Paul that update kit for your Crusader looks really good. The red primer is not home brew, it is a spray for use on cars made by a local company here, and is works really well. (Both on car plastic parts and models ). Finally i'm not racing ahead or anything, it's just that people left for vacations.
Chris nice job there. The red stars i must admit look good on 109s .
The Tiran has received the basic color and is now resting, tracks are ready to be assembled, so i think that tomorrow i will upload some photos.
As for the second entry i promised that will be a T 28 owned by the Finns. As soon as the Tiran is finished and sort out some details regarding the kit, it will begin.

You guys have me inspired. Nice works. I'm switching from the Matilda to doing a das reich t-34. Should be a nice fast and relaxing build. I want to use the hairspray chipping of panzer grey over russian green :-)

Hi Chris, nice 109 dude that is something different , I would of weathered some more but that's only my 2 cents.
Thank You for taking part. Just one thing though where have you put the gallery pics? I can't see them here:-

Hi John, yeah this set from Panzer Art is really cool, not like the disaster I had on the Protection Campaign.
Hi Greg, welcome on board. Cool choice there, that will look great when finished.

Hells Bells! Where indeed! LOL I'll see if I can find them! There is weathering around the gun troughs, nose, along the wing roots and in the wheel wells just a light coating of black soot usually I'd post shade the panel lines etc but I wanted to just try the Humbrol weathering powders. I might smear a little dirt around the wheels and underneath the fuselage yet if the mood strikes me.
Well that's weird they seem to have just disappeared into the ether. Oh well I've uploaded them again and this time they seem to be in there.

Greg nice subject. To tell the truth i've never seen a T 34 in Panzer Grey. Looking forward to that.
Here are some photos from my progress, still needs a lot of work but it's getting there.

Hey Greg,CONGRATS . Two with one shot, nice . As Paul said family is the most important thing there is.
Paul thanks. I must say that till now it is a rather enjoyable kit even with the extra work it needs. I want to finish with this one to get my hands on the T28.
