Too many campaigns, too few kits, not enough disposable income....
So change of plan again: for this campaign I'll be doing the Airfix 1/48 Land Rover WMIK as I need the Land Rover RSOV for the Specila Forces campaign
From Wikipedia: "A variant of TUM is the Weapons Mount Installation Kit (WMIK, pronounced ‘Wimik’) for use as reconnaissance and close fire support vehicles."

Hi all
Making a little progress with the M8 Greyhound. I'm finding the Tamiya kit a joy to build. Everything fits, very few seams needing attention.
The photo below was taken looking down on the upper and lower parts of the hull. The fighting compartment aft of the driver has been painted flat white. The instrument panel, steering wheel, radio, fire extinguisher, seats, and muffler/exhaust pipe are yet to be installed.
The picture below shows the underside of the upper hull and the underside and suspension on the lower hull. The suspension is quite intricate, but the parts are very well made and fit perfectly.
More to come soon.
Cheers,
Dick

Paul, thanks a lot. I was not speeding, it is just the way i work on my kits. One at a time. I see you are doing a really nice job too. (You cannot stay away from conversions kits no matter what! )
Kevin, nice clean work there. Waiting to see it painted.
Jon, nice kit you have there. Have fun with it!
Richard, nice job so far. I like the details of the undercarriage.
Well my Soviet relic kit is done. I did the best i could with it.

Ok, the vehicle and figure are now ready for painting.
John, Well done on your kit. I too work one kit at a time until it's complete, but you've got me on finishing first.
Rich, The M8 is making great progress. And yes, the M8 kit goes together well without too much difficulty. I built one last year and enjoyed the build.
Thanks and enjoy you're Memorial Day Weekend.

Today has been a great day. The weather wasn't so great, so I was able to make some great progress.
I was able to get a grey primer coat on with pre-shading and then the interior, followed by a base coat with highlights.
Have a great weekend.
Kevin

Hi all
A little more progress on the M8. The picture below shows the underside of the upper hull with instrument panel and steering wheel in place and the topside of the lower hull with seats, fire extinguisher, and radio installed. The wheels are assembled and ready for painting.
The next photo shows the hull assembled with the turret, turret basket, gun, etc. ready to be painted and assembled.
The photos below show the hull with the wheels mounted temporarily. The lower hull must be painted before the wheels go on, and the wheels must be in place before the fenders are attached because the wheels can't be removed once the fenders are in place.
I just noticed in the photo below that the mount for the towing pintle is slightly askew and will have to be corrected. The white spot in the upper right of the photo is light shining through the hole where the exhaust pipe goes.
The turret still needs work, but the old dog is almost ready for painting.
Cheers
Dick

Got the mottled camo pattern on. Not sure I like it but since I've already put on the decals which were pilfered from another kit, I guess I'm stuck with it. I'm sure it will look better as add more detail.

Looks great, Kevin. Just when I saw your camo and before I read your comment, I thought to myself "I want to try that mottled type lines next time".
Looking forward to see more.

Kevin, thanks a lot. Your 250 looks great, nice interior details and i also like the camo! After filters etc... it is going to look really good.
Sean, thank you very much. The net was something that i intended to use anyway but the obvious emptiness of the interior meant that i had to place it like that.

Dick - The M8 is looking good, love that Tamiya build quality, I'll have to pick up that kit at some point, I've seen pics of a captured M8 with a MG 151 drilling mounted on the turret.
John - Nice work on that baby, good weathering and the netting gives it extra pizazz.
Kevin - I agree with everyone else, the camo looks cool.
I will be building the Bronco Humber Mk.II. This will be a nice break from tracks, but man this box is packed with tiny pieces...

Hi all:
A little more progress on the M8 Greyhound. The first photo
shows the hull with the wheels and fenders installed. The turret and turret basket are assembled and ready for installation.
The next two photos show the left and right sides. The fenders are in place, but not yet painted. Clearance between the rear wheels and fenders is really tight.
Close up of the turret basket with seats installed, M1 carbines (from other kits) in racks, .30 cal. MG ammo box in place.
Underside of turret showing ready rack for 37 mm ammo.
Underside of vehicle with wheels & muffler in place. Muffler was first painted with Magic Metallic steel, then rusted with Magic Metallic rapid rust.
Top side of hull, with hatches open. The dashboard and steering wheel are visible through the driver's hatch. The red object on the left edge of the turret cutout is the fire extinguisher.
Still quite a bit to do - install the turret, mask the wheels so I can spray paint the fenders, then a coat of Future, decals, and a thousand minor details, but it's coming along.
Cheers
Dick

Evening,
Jon, the Centario looks like an interesting build.
John, great job
Rich, nice job on the M8 but I think the inside of the turret is OD since it can be seen from the outside. Keep up the good progress.
Here is a snapshot of my latest progress. I know it looks shinny, but that will go away when I flat coat the model before the final application of pigments.
Later.

Bit more progress on my Chevy. Not that far off finishing it now. Few touching up of bits and a bit of stowage over the sides and it should be there...

Karl Great work on the LRDG Chevy - don't forget the radio antenna.
Kevin Your track is looking really good. I like the camouflage.
In response to your comment about the color of the M8 turret interior, I researched that fairly carefully, and submit the following photos. The firs is of an M8 in the Jacques Littlefield collection.
The next photo is of a Brazilian war veteran. It remained in service for many years after the war and underwent some modifications along the way - ie the machine gun clamped to the side of the turret.
The third photo I think came from Toadman's site.
All three examples have white interiors, although only one of the 37 mm guns is white. You would have to be fairly high up to be able to see the inside of the turret.
Model on!
