Steph...That was fast!! Looking good so far..
I got the basecoat on my Churchill..It was first painted Nato Black , then I mixed Tamiya's OD and Olive Green along with a bit of buff to lighten it up.. I then went back and lightened the color even more using more buff and yellow-green..So this is the end result of all that.. Sorry again for the bad pictures but I think you can see the effect I'm after.. Next detail painting, washes and decals!

Hi guys and girls. Fairly new to actually posting on here, and late to the campaign I know, but this has peaked my interest. I have joined. I have a 1:32 scale Airfix "Desert Rats" Crusader that I will be building for this one.

A nice weekend slammer. I was going to build the Dragon or Bronco 25 pdr, but realized I had 2 of the Tamiya kits in the stash. Basecoat on, its supposed to look a lot more tan as I was going for an African theatre. I think I'll hit it with some green and see if it will look more Western Europe.

My progress pictures are piling up so I figured I'd upload some. This is Academy's M7.
I started off with specific subassemblies. I actually started with the suspension and lower hull, but I didn't have any usable pictures of those.
With the main subassemblies done, I turned to paint. I didn't take a lot of pictures of the painting. I did go ahead and paint part of the roadwheels.
Now to start assembling those subassemblies. I went ahead and did some of the paint-work for the fighting compartment. And I went ahead and test painted some of the rear deck, just to see how it looked.
Well that's where I am. I still need to mount the suspension and tracks. Add the OD and green paint. And the little add-ons and details. I'm debating on a base. If I do that, I'll probably use a crew for the gun and a line of infantry walking past.

Hey guys ! Nice work .. Steph ...damn that was fast!good job.. Graeme fun to build those old Tamiya kits and they still look good...Hope to see you in Ottawa in a couple of weeks.. Alex keep it coming ..looks good so far.
Had a little trouble this week.. This is an old kit and for some reason the decals just did not want to co-operate one bit ..Put the first one in water...it just wouldn't let go..Finally after about a minute I got it off the backing paper ..laid it down and added Solvaset to get it to stay...next one just crumbled to pieces,.. Thank god I got a buddy who I knew had this kit in his stash ..a quick e-mail and they are in the mail... But I got a show in two weeks !!! So I started filters and washes to get this done in time .. I'll have to go back over with the filters to blend in the decals but I'm sure I can make it work..So here are some pictures of the washes and filters so far...

Steph, really nice job and amazing speed on that build!
Richard, that paintwork and weathering are looking top notch on your Church. GL with the decals!
So, here are a couple update shots on my Academy Achilles... I have ordered decals and a turned barrel that have not arrived yet. But got a good start on the bogies and interior...
And some primer added before the white interior

Hi John ..looking good .. I've got that kit in my stash and I'll be watching your build for ideas...I have an idea that might look cool (I'm planning to use it ...I was thinking of leaving the lower hull interior in the US OD color but painting the turret interior with a greener SCC15 (along with the outside of course) Just a thought to make people talk..

Richard,
Thanks for watching. So far been a fun build. Gotta watch the sink/injection marks though.
Quick question. The SCC15 paint you are talking about, where the Canadian M10s repainted or left in std OD?
If repainted, what is a good way to represent this color?
Thanks,
John

I hope to make CAPCON at least for a couple hours. We're have work schedule / child care issues that weekend

If it was made in the USA, then it was left OD.
Cheers,

Hi Tom ..I beg to differ...Since it was up gunned and the turret was modified to fit the gun ..So they were probably painted SCC15.
My mix is about half Tamiya Olive Drab and half Olive green.. You can lighten this up a bit with deck tan or buff...
I agree that if it was an M10 it would be left in OD ..Same thing for shermans ..Fireflies SCC15 ..regular shermans OD

Sal,
I've had to change my picture taking. I'm using a phone cam and I'm having to take them at a different location where the light is not so good. I'm hoping to get my photo spot back this week and hopefully my camera as well.

I have my camera back so the pictures should improve a bit.
Roadwheels painted and ready to me mounted. Yep those are wheels for a Stryker and for a SU-100 for two other campaigns.
Suspension and track added.
That's it for now. I wanted to mainly get a few better looking shots posted. Next stop will be back to paint to get a touch of brown and green. Then, stowage and weathering. I have a few figures stuck aside, but I'll have to see how things are going.

I am seeing some great work.
Well here is the update on my Churchill.
The markings "attempt" to represent the one and only Mk.III that the Ontario Regiment had in 1943 while training in England. Unable to find any references on this single tank, I decided to take a little creative license and assign it to the HQ unit.
Up next some weathering.
