A lot has happened in two photos, first I messed up, AGAIN and had to remove or redo something. A friend alerted via e-mail that the applique armor is supposed to have a straight edge minus welds on the bottom. So I had to remove those. Finished the suspension, yay! Some scratch work has gone into the continual process of turning this tank into a BLW M4 DV Firefly. Apparently the BLW M4 had a unique type of hinges on the engine access doors and also a different style rounded contour that joined the rear plate to the bottom hull plate. Also most of the suspension is done. Next I will finish adding all the top hull and turret details. After that I will start on the tracks. I've lost some time fixing mistakes and also discovering different details in the photo that I had previously missed. converting the turret took time I had to add cheek armor and remove the pistol port.

Delbert and Pedro,
Thanks for sharing what you know! So, it surprises me a bit, how it is just the floor... but what do I know. Seems like those vert sides of the interior could be seen, but will go with what photo evidence we have.
BTW, both of your builds are really nice so far.
Thanks again,
John

Wow...............beautiful projects thus far in this thread. I finally began work on my Dragon 1/35th Scale Sherman Firefly Ic which will be in Polish markings. Did some work on the suspension and the hull and this has been a really nice build thus far. I will work on the back of the hull today.
Best wishes,
Ian

Amazing how your 'putty work' made that airplane (Spitfire?) look like a Sherman! Beautiful!

John, this is actually a little known weapon developed for use against the Axis. The mating of a 17pdr gun to a Rolls Royce Griffon engine......the Seafirefly!!!!! That's actually my Seafire FR 47 for the Lottery Campaign in the background, awaiting it's paint.
Best wishes,

Hi guys,
Everyone's work looks real nice. Sal, Ian, and John keep up the good work fellas. Here is a small update as bench time has been limited the last couple days. got some small details (footman loops) added to the front left of the turret and some welds to the radio box extension on the back. Also I have finished building the left side track.
Guys, I cannot say enough about Panda Plastics Sherman tracks. they are without a doubt the easiest LTL Sherman tracks I've ever worked with. I love that they are styrene too as I just like to work with plastic period. I've become a bit of a LTL junkie after not having used them until about a year ago. So far I have worked with Friul, Model Kasten, DML LTL, Magic Tracks, Bronco, and Panda Plastics. the MKs I don't think I will ever finish and I might just build a few links at a time for tanks that are carrying spare track. I will never ever buy another set of those, not worth it. Anyways, if your into shermans or derivative Sherman types. Do yourself a favor and buy Panda plastic tracks.

Shermania is going all out on that Sherman, looks good so far
I have made some progress and had some set backs
Base coat and lower hull painted
The terrible 1 piece tracks added and some camo applied
When I attempted to apply the clamp to the hull i destroyed the Mg tripod so i have to go find 1 in the spare parts box

Great Work on that Sherman Pedro, and Sal that Grant is looking good.
There are a lot of Interesting things going on in this build.
Here is my update on my M-10 Achilles, going slow but making progress.
1st up is the ammo. I have never found a good way to add strips to ammo as it is just so small. But the other day I had a brainstorm. It works, just requires a very steady hand.
I took a clamp set I had, tied a length of invisible thread to it.. added some red paint then rolled my ammo shells on it to add the ring. Looks good enough to me and will add interest in my turret. better than just brass and black I have used in the past.
My Contraption:
My results:
I did the white tips by spreading some paint evenly on a post it note and just dipping the tips..
and now My Progress overall. Body and Turret mostly finished.

Great stuff going on here guys Pedro your Sherman is going to be awesome ..Sal Great job on your Grant.. Delbert looking good sir!.. I'm starting to dig around to build an Achilles as well.. it is a commission build and he wants it built (Down Town ) with all the bells and whistles..I think I'm going to be busy!!! I've been studying pictures of the inside and there is quite a few things to fix to make it accurate .. If you have any info or if you know of any conversions out there ,let me know..
I did get my Churchill done in time for the show 2 weeks ago .. It came in a very reasonable 2nd place , so I'm happy with it ...Now I've packed everything away as we are about to move (AGAIN!) but I hope either my friend took a picture at the show or I hope I don't break anything during the move and I'll take some pictures when I unpack!.. Keep up the great work everyone ..You guys are my model fix until I get set back up again..
Rick

Hi Rick thanks.
I'm not all that into a lot of after market stuff on my builds yet, I will go out on a limb and say this...
I have built a couple of academy kits, a M-10 and M-18, and this is my 1st AFV club kit of the M-10 Achilles.
I personally would choose the Academy kit over the AFV kit. The Academy kit of the M-10 had a little more complete interior, and was easier to build. But my main Gripe is the small bit attachment points to the spruce of the AFV kit, many of the small fiddly bits had large attachment points that were hard to clean up.
here is a photo showing that..
The only after market bit I'm using is a brass antenna set I got off of e-bay, The kit plastic ones were just too sad..
that said there are several after market sets for the Achilles, just do a web search..
just my 2 cents worth.
Delbert

Thanks Delbert ..I will be using the Academy kit when the time comes ... I've got a lot of PE from Aber but it is mostly for the M10 and not the Achilles ... I have the Bronco A19 radio ..a lot of 17lbr ammo .. I have pictures of how the ammo was stored which is going to be a pain in the butt to build ... I'll check what else is out there.. but I'm in no hurry ...
On another note I got my friend to send me his pictures .. Here are my pictures of my finished Churchill...

Sal-----The Grant really looks good. I always thought that was a cool looking tank
Pedro---Your Firefly is beautiful thus far. Can't wait to see it finished.
Richard---The Churchill looks oustanding. Great weathering!!!
Delbert----The Achilles looks great!!
I did some more work on my Polish 1/35th Dragon Ic Firefly hybrid. It appears Pedro and I are having the same issue with putting the applique armor on and then having to take it off!! I had set it too low on the hull so I could not put the PE border on the bottom. I took off the plates, applied the PE, and then made new applique armor out of sheet stock so no worries. All in all a fun kit so far.
Best wishes,
Ian

Thanks for the positive words D. Hey, I hope you don't mind but I'm definitely going to rip off your string painting technique whenever I need to do rounds. Thanks for sharing that.

Ian,
Thanks for the kind words and yes I guess we both bungled the applique armor
I just happened to have spares so I'm happy I didn't have to scratch those too. That IC Hybrid is looking sweet! Did you adjust the gun length on yours too?

Fellas,
Here is a short update on the rolled steel plate BLW Firefly IC DV wreck. Time is getting scarce and progress is slowing to a grind with a new contract coming up in a couple weeks my modeling window is closing up, soon I wont have any time to do this so hopefully I can finish her in the next week or so.
