A little more progress, a coat of Future, decals, another coat of future and a wash. This is the first time I have used future (first time I have gloss coated period!) so there is a learning curve. The Future darkened the paint a lot more than I thought it would.
Now onto detail painting, flat coat, weathering , filters, etc., plus my Panda Tracks to replace the kit tracks.

Howdy,
Here I am with a update, been a while, trying some weathering things.
Here is a photo of what I've been working on. mixed up an dark brown enamel for a streaking grime in order to make some subtle streaks down the sides to get rid of the monotone colors, It is very understated and hard to capture on camera... will prob do some rust streaks later and dust.

Colin, don't sweat the darkening of the paint when you Futured the model. When you flat coat, it will revert back to the original hue.

Thanks Warren! I used a couple of drops of MEK solvent and it worked like a charm.

Here are the latest progress pics. Still working away on the tracks, when I get them done I want to add some light soil buildup to them, the lower hull and running gear. Have to do a bit more pigment work and other light weathering as well. Almost done!

Thanks Richard! Since it's been an icy weekend I did some more work on the Firefly. Post shading is done and the tracks are on. Just FYI for any Firefly builders....the DS tracks are too long so I had to take out three links per side to tighten them up. Next will be decals and weathering.
Best wishes,
Ian

Nice work everyone..
well the nets been down here for a couple of days so I got a bit done.. half way through the detail painting and weathering process. a lot more to go but here is my progress so far.
I'm trying for a slightly dusty worn but well kept look.. trying to figure out which way to go from here.. wish me luck.

Very nice Cromwell! You have much more patience & skill than I for painting the Hessian netting and stowage.
Here is my Firefly, apart from the .50 cal and antennae I am calling this one done. It has been a fun build for my first one in 30 years and I learned a lot that I will apply to me next build.

Thanks Colin, that's a very nice firefly that you have done. It's always nice to see another armour modeler in AB.
Delbert that is a sweet looking build. I love the Mickey Mouse ears paint job. If it wasn't for the backlog of campaigns that I have going I would be forced to dig mine out of the stash.

Cam and Colin, very nice builds. Really love the weathering on your Firefly and the Hessian netting looks awesome on the Cromwell!
Been very delayed on my building lately (sick Family and a close friend passed), trying to speed up on my Achilles. The interior is built, need to finish detail paint and wash. Exterior is still to be completed (hull) and the turret is about 60-70% complete. Hopefully can get a few pics up sometime soon.

Really beautiful looking projects everyone! I worked on the Firefly Hybrid and the decals are on....Polish 3 Sqn., 6th Armoured Regiment. Thought it interesting that even on the work bench the barrel camo really gives the illusion of a short barrel Sherman. Anyway, weathering and stowage to follow.
Best wishes, Ian
