Just posted my pics of my USMC Abrams. Built from Tamiya kit, and decals. Added non-slip texture with liquid glue and toothbrush. Detailed up a bit adding the EPRLS antenna, power conduit to APU as well as for the MCD. Added fender springs, etc. The VS-17 panels are made from vinyl material.
Finished in Humbrol paints and weathered with MIG pigments and artist pastels.

Well with some family things coming up this week and my rush to get done I’ve decided to drop the stowage for my M2A0 Bradley. I’ve gotten the last of the paint on it and as soon as the dull coat goes on and drys I’ll upload finished pictures. Should have them up by the end of Wednesday.

BATUS Challenger II - Trumpeters Op Telic kit with Lion Roar PE and Tamiya track, the road wheels are articulated as the tank will be placed on a base in the near future, figgies will be included as well.
Thanks to all who helped and as always your comments and critiques are welcome

OK,its dry!

JGSDF Type 87 Recon Vehicle by Trumpeter. Good kit, goes together real well. I had absolutely no problems at all with it.

Tried something a little different (well, for me anyway) on the weathering. I used ground pastel sticks mixed with alcohol and just slopped it on. After it was dry, I took a clean wide damp brush and "dry-brushed" the tire tread and side walls back to dark gray.

The only weak link in the kit is the figures, very soft sculpting. They are in progress for the future, right after the Sci-Fi build is done.

I certainly did Murdo. I will be compiling the list of recipients for the award shortly after the month of June arrives. Expect to see your name in this list.

My entry for this campaign is AFV Club’s FV107 Scimitar. This kit was extremely easy to build with everything fitting nicely and very little to trim off. Construction is 99% OOB, the exception being the headlight lenses and tarpaulin for the rear box. One thing that I learned is to make tarps out of un-textured tissue! Tarp tie-downs were made with the Grabhandler tool, just pushing the wire all the way into the drilled holes. Laser-protected sights were colored by layering metallic red over “Blue Angel Blue”, and the cam pattern was done by placing Blu-Tac over a Tamiya NATO black base coat, then applying Tamiya NATO green. I weathered with a graphite art pencil and oversprayed with a heavily thinned dark muddy colour. Decals are from the kit, so I’m unsure as to the unit that this little guy belongs to. I had fun and learned a lot about the Scimitar, and I appreciate the campaign… Thanks, Jazza!

Here is my entry, a US Army M923A2 guntruck used in Iraq. It’s a Italeri kit, 1/35. Ok here’s where I’m at, most of the truck is build and detail added on. Everything scratch built is made with Evergreen Plastic, solder and thin brass sheets. Dave (animal) provided me with some great reference photos and using Vodnik’s excellent M923A2 feature build article. I will start on the gun box tomorrow, and hopefully to start painting late Thursday and Friday. I just ordered a set of the low profile M923A2 wheels with the remote inflation system from Tank Workshop, should have them by Friday afternoon…fingers crossed.

Here is a photo of the real truck

However, I will post when I finish my build, just for completness' sake.

Jeremy,
I'm disapointed to tell you that I won't be able to complete a build for the campaign. My kits arrived a little too late and construction is just barely finishing now.
With the end of school and finals coming up, I doubt I will have much time to finish some projects. Also I have so many projects on my bench almost done, that this one has taken a back seat to others.

Regards
Matt

Hi Matt,

No worries about pulling out. Personal committments will always have priority over the hobby. All the best with the coming finals.

Finally finished! This is Tamiya's M1A2 OIF. Done mostly OOB with a few accessories by Blast and Accurate Armor. I don't really like the weathering and the camera angles could have better. But I'm done and am pretty happy with the outcome.

Great looking build there Cary! Congrats on completing the campaign.

For your efforts, you are now part of an elite group of soldiers that have been awarded the Modern Armored Campaign ribbon. Your name has been updated on the campaign description as well.
