I would just like to say for those who have built the hummers look outstanding! I probably won’t make it since I had an accident with mine which I will explain in a moment. The other thing is all the detail you are putting in to them is looking outstanding. Going back to my accident, one day my dad and I left the hummer sitting there to dry because we tested this new super glue that we have just bought, ten minutes later, my dad comes to me and shows it and I just stand there and look at it. What had happened was that the glue melted the window and melted the hood. I was not a happy person since I was about done with it and have put about thirty hours in it. There is nothing I can do about it except build a new one. I have some good news though; I am almost done with the Meow, and the Modern Tank Campaign. I am hoping to get those two done soon. And again to all of you great job on your hummers

I have a set of windows if you need them. Unfortunately, I cant help you out on the hood. If you want to laugh, I did something similar. I had finished airbrushing the body and outside of my 1044, and it was damp out that day. Needless to say, the paint wasnt drying well at all. so I decided to use a hair dryer to give it some help. Well, it worked great, until my wife came in and started yelling at me about using her hair dryer (like it was going to hurt it). Well, as I was explaining how this wouldnt do anything, I kind of got the hair dryer a wee bit too close to the roof, and it melted and caved in! Needless to say I was pi$$ed. However, I was lucky enough to have another roof in the spares box. Now I dont do much when my wife is around LOL

Fantastic progress guys! Im really pleased to see so many interesting and detailed models and such a level of interest in my campaign.

As a qucik update we now have a campaign ribbon complete, kindly designed by Daniel R who i am indebted to for his help-cheers buddy! I will post it up on the campaign page either tonight or tommorrow, so I hope you all like it. You still have lots of build time left, we got until December 31st, although I for one wont be modelling over the christmas period, i'll no boubt be inebriated much of the time! haha. Im goign to really try and get my Dumvee done this week and try and stay focused on the build, ive been a little distracted by various other things laterly *cough-girls-cough* :-) If anyone has any problems questions please feel free to pm me or email me, also if anyone needs and spares I may be able to help as I have lots of bits left over from Tamiya M1025 kits-wheels, doors etc, drop me line!

I have to say I really wish we had more time on this build as ive just purchased off ebay this week 3 M1114 conversions aswell as a pile of other Humvee bits and pieces so expect a lot of Humvee builds from me in the near future!

Joe-You Dumvee looks spot on! The scratch work you have done is very impressive and I like it a lot, the one thing I woul;d say is perhaps it would do with some more stowage, the spec ops guys fill these things to the top with gear and communications equipment, perhaps try adding some smaller stuff like laptops, webpouches, packs of smokes, phones, maps etc. Obviously is personnal preference and it looks fine anyway.

I must say that these campaigns are fun to be part of and to see all those great models is a joy!

@ afv_rob: Sounds good about that ribbon Looking forward to see it.

As this is my first campaign season I have a practical question: When are these ribbons put on the profile? Sometime during January?

Thanks guys, I to really enjoy the other entries here. There sure is some great looking hummers entered. Rob I took your advice and added a few more pieces, modern gear, bags and a laptop computer. I only wished I knew more info and added more electronics equipment. As they say…you learn as you go. I'm also calling this one finished. Anyhow again thanks, and it was a fun...great campaign.

Joe

Nice job mother. I really love the touch with the laptop, makes it seem even more "special." I have one constructive observation though. All of your weapons on the vehicle look like they have just been through a batch of solvent and are greased up. Basically they look too clean, even by field standards. Anyway just thought I give a thumbs up.

Hi Joe and Bob....
thanks for your comments...this is a second attempt of humvee after some year of stop from model....
Realize newspaper and sign is simple....Looking for newspaper on google(images),copy image and reduce the size (on Microsoft word)...then print.
For the sign is simple but a little bit complicate...first write in english what you want...then with the help of translator write in arab language...add red stripes(or what you want),resize all..(you're free to choose the dimension...but take care...it wouldn't be too big)then print.
For the newspaper I've insert in it another pieces of paper to simulate the pages inside,,,and it was paint with mattcote(tamiya acrilic)
For the sign..it has on the rear a pieces of plasticard(o.25mm) and you can paint it even with clearcote(tamiya) or mattcote...it depends from wich type of sign you want to do.

Sorry for my poor English.....hope this help.....
Hey "mother" your humvee is nice I would add to it a little lightening...on the roof...more or less like mine to simulate the sun effect...do you think is it a bad idea?!

Ciro, how did you make the hinged vertical plate on the Humvee's hatch? Do you have the dimensions for it, by any chance? Thanks!

If you wouldn't mind, I'd love to have the measurements for the scratchbuilt vertical plate. I've seen the plates fully extended, folded in half, and folded flat on the hatch, but the pictures I have make it hard to determine the size and how it attaches to the hatch itself, so any help you give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here are a couple more WIP photos on my open topped M998.

I added a Future coat and an oil wash last night after these photos were taken. Tonight I'll be dullcoating it and Thursday night or Friday night I will be drybrushing it down. Hopefully I'll have everything done by the end of the weekend.

This Topic is interesting for me as I am thinking about building a Civilian Style 'Hummer'. But i think looking at some of these pictures I may decide to build a Military one.
Thank you to all for giving me the idea

Hey Dave,
The first photo of your M998 looks so real, love the color. I'd like to see more photos of the interior. Great job.

Thanks guys,
The first one was taken with the flash on and the second was flash off. I guess I'll shoot with the flash on in the future. The paint is Tamiya, NATO Green slightly lightened with Dark Yellow.

Oh yeah, I fixed that area under the driver's side dash after I saw these photos. I't's amazing the touchups you find you need to do when you look at your photos. I guess the camera doesn't lie!!!! :-) :-) :-)

I agree with lewis, i reckon a hummer done in a 'pimp my ride' style would look awesome!
