Models that inspire you to complete a model .
I can finally say this Humvee is finished .

I have submitted a build review on the main forum page .
If there is anything I may be overlooking I would appreciate your comments and feedback.

I look forward to seeing the completion of everyones Humvee in the next few weeks .

Happy modelling

Hi Michael

Your hunvee looks good mate. I wouldn't mind seeing the blast humvee storage sets go on top and the back.

Great work

Hi Paul,

Thanks
I will be getting the Blast set as well.good pick up there.

My intention was to get it completed for the Humvee campaign .
Looking at what everyone has submitted just gave me the incentive .
The completed kit will be going on a dio in the long term .

Cheers
Michael

Hello all,
Finally finished this beast. Had a small mishap just before final weathering. An unopened 2" wide roll of Blue masking tape rolled off of a box next to the HMMWV and crushed a sling attachment point on the front hood. I was able to drill it out and replace it with stretched sprue. Thankfully I still had some of the original paint mix around for touchups.

As always comments welcome.

David--that is one good looking soft-top Humvee. I particularly like the interior and overhead frame. Is that the Pro Art Sincgars radio, by the way?

Michael--Your M1114 looks great. The weathering on the tires is very well done. After seeing how well the Mig conversion turns out, I'm definitely looking forward to tackling mine once I get a little more experience with resin.

Thanks,
Yes, it is the ProArt SINGARS. Figuring out the wiring was a pain, and you just reminded me that I didn't add an antenna wire from the bottom of the antenna mount to under the body.

Just a note on the photos showing the front reflectors. They are not painted clear red, they are clear orange, but the flash made them look red.

I'm not sure where this message will end up.
Anyway I built the Dragon 1/72 scale M1025.
When I was on vacation I gave the TV a glance and it was some news program on. What really caught my eye was a blue HMMWV in Iraq. I foun out that it was the Iraqi police that had got some and I knew I had to build one. I got some resin wheels from Calibre72 since I dont trust the grey rubber tires that Dragon has. I also had to rebuild the roof hatch for the gunner and add the armor round it. I've put it on a temporary base to save the sand pigment from coming off until I built another.

I have a M1114 that I will build as a US Military Police car and put them together. The problem is to find what markings this vehichle should have.
The decals in the kit is for a unit that has left and not a current car.

Wow David your Humvee is fantastic and its ncie to see a slightly different one to all these M1114's(which do look very cool though)I love the subtle weathering, its just fantastic!!

Michael-Your M1114 looks very cool and I like it, however as most have said the tyres are no good, buts its not a problem. Its looking good all the same.

Keep up the good work guys!

Hi Rob,

Yes ,the tyres are the shocker of the build .
I have a spare set of Blast tyres with the correct tread pattern . :-)
I'm in the midst of redoing the tyres ,changing to one aerial as Jeff mentioned.
I've also pulled the figure out behind the 50cal and I'm repainting the flesh tones .

Can I just say thanks to everyone who have submitted with their imput on this model.
Here and on other forums on the net .
I appreciate your help

Cheers
Michael

Rob
Is it too late to post something in this campaign?
I have a humvee on the bench at the moment.

Hi Dus, not at all the campaign ends on the 31st of December but im going to see if we can get it extended by a week or two becuase lots of people have stuff that almost done and I guess the christmas holidays will keep a lot of people away from modelling so an extra week or two would help wrap them all up and prevent people from franticaly having to build whilst the christmas dinner is in the oven but yes you are still welcome to enter.

Dus,

The campaign runs until Dec 31st. I cant speak for Rob, but I would say you should have enough time to enter and finish your build in the next 8 days.

Am about 95% on this HMMWV. Still need to weather and finish the turret gunner.

This is my Humvee 'Technical' based on a photo on panzerweb.net on the Dioart website, different guns but still looks quite mean!

That looks fantastic Dus, very cool looking and definately very mean! Some of the humvees in Iraq could do with something like that, stop messing about with M2's, just fit a big old AA gun on the deck!

Is this based on that African militia vehicle? I think it was Somali but cant be certain. Did you cut those groves out on the sides of the cargo area? the side of the wheel wells? Becuase i know these are presnt on the tamiya kit and it look like you did a good job of them here, ive wondered how im going to be able to do this on my M998 when i start it.

Thanks for the kind words Rob,

It might be Somali Militia, you probably know more about it than I.
The kit is from Academy, the 'IED' version, all I have done is filled in a few seams, no groove cutting at all.
To be honest quite a pleasant build, think the wheels are a tad on the small side? The Guns are from the Eastern Express Gaz66 kit.

Cheers

Progress so far

Cammo and a thin 'dust' coat on. Needs a coat of varnish and I will be able to go to town on the weathering.
