That SU100 looks great, what kit is it?

Hi Dus,

Thanks for your comments. It's actually a Tamiya SU-85 which I am converting to an SU-100 for the this Campaign. It's not perfect but it will be similar to the SU-100's found in the Suez area at the time of the 1956 crisis. Hopefully for this campaign, it makes a nice ground target for the wonderful array of aircraft being built!

Hi All.
Thanks for the comments, its certainly helped keeping the motivation going on this one, but now its getting a life of its own and im looking forward to finishing it.
Decals are on and I expect the next photos will be the finished result.

Hello my fellow participants!
My entry is almost ready for painting I am currently playing with the tracks for this baby (3 pieces per 1 link and some 80 links per one track, gives some 500 pieces in both tracks) and boy does that makes me sick Anyway, here are the pics.

Cheers,
Grzegorz

Wow Dus, does that make it a ground target or a watercraft? If so, I think this makes it the only watercraft eligible for this campaign!!

Bravo,

Gary :-)

Finished Entry
This is the PM models Sea Fury in 1:72. It was a real challenge getting this together and I think I used more filler on this than all my previous builds put together, but finally I managed to finish it.
The decals are from an AM set and its sprayed with various shades of Alclad2.A very thin coat of Tamiya Buff was then misted on to dull everything down and blend it all together.I then polished the leading edges of the wings and general weathering was done with pastel chalks and a silver pencil.
Its the first time Ive done anything looking as battered and war weary as this and it was a lot of fun in the later stages.

Cleared for take off and searching for targets!
Happy Modelling.

Nice Fury Nigel. I'll do my best to get my 1:48 Vampire to the same standard, but It'll be my first real attempt to make an nmf, so we'll just have to see how it works.

I'm back from China AND a good holiday week in Denmark, so I hope to be able to post a freshly painted P 51 soon.

And to Pedro I can only say - Jeez, what a turret! I really like the hatch-springs. Do you have a trained garden-gnome working the small things for you?

Zoiiks! Better stick some lifejackets in the back!

Lovely aircraft, I like the different panel colours on the wings and the markings look painted on, are they decals?

Cheers

Dus,
The roundels and tail fin markings are decals but the white/green stripes on the fusalage and wings are painted on.Spraying the panels in different shades of Alclad2 was fun and worth the effort in the end.Lots of masking

One ground target finished!

Here's my Egyptian SU-100, 1/35 scale Tamiya SU-85, upgunned and a few modifications to make it an almost SU-100.

Doug and Grzegorz, Thank you both for your comments. You 're right, great target for the M50's! Before that happens, I'm sure the aircraft for this campaign will have annilated the SU-100!

Thanks again! Gary

Well Done Gary,
It looks great!

What colour/make paint did you use for it?
Do you reckon you might put it on a base?

Take care

Great Su-100 Gary,,and it should be quite safe with my Sea Fury providing air cover :-)
Heres something that the aircraft modellers should find interesting.
The October isuue of AEROPLANE (on sale Sept 1st) has a 40 page feature on the Suez Crisis
Might even inspire me to build another entry

Thanks Dus. My two main colours used are Model Master 2136 US Army/Marines Sand & 2053 Sand plus a bunch of other little bits of colours for effects... A base, gosh, sometimes it's all I can do to finish the models. :-)

Hey Dus, I visited your photo gallery and man that glider you built is cool. My Dad was a glider pilot during WW2 and flew into France on one of those.

Cheers! Gary :-)
