YES!!! I'm back online again!!!
After a sunny vacation in the Czech Republic and a PC-crash I'm finnaly online again. Man, a few weeks without the BigA and also almost without modelling... where is that chilling rehab smiley to place in this post?

Anyway, great to see the progress on the projetcs here!

Ps. I have some Israeli Harvard decals (Academy) if you're interested.

PolarBear, if you still have them I'm surely interested!
I'll PM you, OK?

Hi Gary

Hey Dus, I visited your photo gallery and man that glider you built is cool. My Dad was a glider pilot during WW2 and flew into France on one of those.

Cheers! Gary :-)

Blimey, your old man must have had some stories to tell you when you were a kid! Did he fly the WACO's? Pity no one has brought one of those out yet.
I built the Horsa for Simon the owner of the company that produce it as a display model, mate it is bloody massive, I had to stick it up on top of the bookcase in the living room as it was being built 'cos there was no where else to leave it. Thankfully Simon has to worry about storing it now :-)

Cheers

I tip my hat to all of you, especially Lampie and gbkirsh who both have finished excellent entries. Great work, guys! No shake and bake, eh!

Personally, I've only been back home for a couple of days and now I have to leave for an urgent business trip. It looks as if I'll be gone for yet another two weeks. But you guys seem to manage quite well without me!

TedMamere - I got your package in the mail!!! An update will follow once I get back from Texas.

Cheers, y'all!

Hi Dus,

There is an Army Glider hanging up high in the Wright Patterson Air Museum in Dayton Ohio which looks like the Yank version of the one you built but may be a WACO?! My Dad is 85 now and his memory isn't perfect but hopefully he will remember that. He used to tell us with pride how he was a Glider Pilot in the 334th (I think) airborne infantry in France in 1944.

Dus

Hi Dus,

My Dad said the name Waco does sound familiar. He talked about how many guys were killed in those things from crashes. His glider crash landed and he ended up in a field hospital in France with a fractured vertebrae. He healed up in time for his outfit to be absorbed into the 82nd Airborne in time to help relieve the 101st fighting in Bastogne. All interesting and I told him I would send him a picture of your glider you built. He said he is looking forward to seeing it!

Cheers,
Gary

Hi Gary

I think US forces did use the Horsa in NW Europe, just haven't seen many Pics personally.

If you email me I will send some pics of the glider, I wrote an article on it and had to take quite a few pics to submit.

There is a reproduction Horsa at the Pegasus museum in Normandy and remains of them at various museums in the UK, Middle Wallop, D Day museum and the Mosquito museum all have sections of fuselages.
It's amazing how people would fly these things into a battle zone, just plywood and fabric, very brave!

All the best

Yes Dus, brave soldiers. My Dad has always said, he wasn't brave, terrified really, and the brave ones were the ones who gave their young lives.

I PM'd you with my email address. The best to you, Gary

Ola fellow campaigners!

I thought I'd share with you the last pics of my build being unpainted:-)--<
I managed to get those tracks on and they are even half movable. I also altered few details that needed it on the rear engine deck and added filler cap there.
Right now its painted with the base dark OD, further shading and detailing will be done tommorow.

Cheers
Grzegorz

Thanks for the compliments Guys!
Dus, unfortunately suspension is working only on one side, as I figured the working tracks after i glued together lower run on the right stiff :-) Anyway I'm nearing the end of my build! It still has to be weathered, and some stowage added to the rack.

Happy modeling!
Grzegorz

It's a real beauty Pedro!
Well done!
Is the blue cross on the back for air recon?

Thanks Paul!
Yes, the blue cross was meant to be air recognition, I've read that they didn't worked well in the battle :-) Its in fact quite obscured by the gun support, I was also wondering if the cross wasn't painted over the gun support, but even if it was, I don't wanna do it

Hi Grzegorz,

I was wondering that too but frankly your build is as I said before, a Masterpiece!

I think you have the marking right on your model, I haven't seen it painted over the Gun stay in any pics of M50's.
I second what Gary said too!

It's gorgeous! So many details, I like the spoiled fuel!
I think you have a great change in the DMOM (Dragon Model of the Month) forum here on Armorama!

Even the various wooden handles on tools look very real. You can see where handling the tools have left wear marks. An amazing model!

Hi All,

My Israeli P6 Texan is still waiting to get sprayed... I still haven't found the time for that; it's not something I can do in a lost hour, because I dont have a workingplace (yet) that I can use whenever I want...
But meanwhile I started with the Heller Vampire 1:72 scale.
PolarBear showed a picture of this plane on the pre-campaign thread, and it was that picture that made me enthousaist (not to say hooked) for this campaign in the first place.
And, eh...if anybody has some Egypt EAF roundels in spare.... I would be very interested in them!

Here are some WIP pictures of the model:

And the picture from the pre-campaign thread that started it all for me:

Egyptian M4A4-A2 ready for paint? Few fit problems from so many different "donor" kits. Added a bit of battle damage for "character".

Paul, I think I may have some but I have to dig for them a little. Let me know if you still need them and I'll see what I can find.

Paul.
This is the decal set I got the Egyptian markings for my Sea Fury from.
Egyptian and Israeli Decals
Maybe there will be some Israeli decals you can use for your Harvard?
You dont get the white stripes with the green bands but I sprayed them myself.A good exercise in masking
Hope this helps.
