THE reference has landed. Just a bit too late of course but it is very interesting anyway!

Sooo, what's up with this campaign?? I guess it's just about finished and hopefully there are some neat planes and ground targets to see...

The best,

Good point Gary,
Will there be a round up on who has built what?
Is there going to be a campaign gallery as such?

Cheers

All those grand plans... I seriously thougt that I would be able to finish the Avenger so that I could go for a silver but due to a baby daughter arriving just before christmas instead of after the new year I didn't get that much modelling time. Not that I really mind, even if I am a modeller I think it was a good trade-off! Her name is Linnea if you wonder...

Anyway, one got finished. Here is my Israeli T-6:

This is the common and very nice Academy T-6G kit backdated with more frames in the canopy (using tape, paint and foul language) and a scratch built longer exhaust. Rockets are of British origin, I think they came from a Tamiya Mossie.

Regarding my Avenger, this is the sad state of affairs as of the last day of 2006:

This went haywire when I thougt that I could save some time by using the decals supplied with the kit instead of painting the stripes. That didn't work out. Not at all... Not too much work left but no chance of finishing in time!

And on to the HUP-2:

I have cast a plug for moulding a new canopy. The blue part is the silicon clay mould and the beige part is the plug. Further, I have cleaned up the fuselage parts and stared installing the windows which, after sanding to half the thickness and polishing, are acceptably clear...

Happy New Years Eve to all!

Regards

Thanks for your offer Tony. Airborne over Suez in a T-6 with plenty of MiGs around that is probably exactly what I need!

Yes, I believe so. I finally have the appropriate decals (was waiting for the new Bison set) so I can wrap my Centurion up this week. BTW it is a British one, not an Israeli one.

Ribbons for those who deserve them!!!

Hi all!

I just want to mention that I have finally managed - with the good help of TedMamere - to award all those that finished the campaign. Look in your profile and you should find a nice and shiny Suez ribbon. - Initially, I wanted to distribute different values (gold, silver and bronze) depending on the number of entries:

Even though some were close (gbkirsh with three entries, Betheyn and India11A with two each, MagnusF with one finished and a whole bunch on the workbench etc) there were no grand slams. Thus, I've decided to award everyone the gold ribbon!

We are still counting on Cyberwombat to finish his British Centurion this week. If completed, he will also receive a ribbon.

Finally, I must say that it has been a true pleasure to host this campaign (even though my own modelling career has temporarilly been put on hold). The interest in the subjects, the sharing of information and advice, the encouragement of the fellow modellers etc have all contributed to make this a great experiance and a succesful campaign. Not to mention all the fantastic entries!!!

We managed to gather aircraft from all the nations participating in the conflict, and with the aforementioned Centurion, we'll have ground targets from them all as well!

Cheers!

PolarBear

Ps. A final summary will be posted in a week or so.

Polar Bear,

Thanks for a campaign, above and beyond the call of duty! It was really informative and as I stated early on, my favorite modeling subject.

Thanks again and congratulations for a job well done!!!

Woohoo! My first ribbon.

Nice to see your blue Yeti-face again too Björn. This was a really great campaign, and I'm hooked. For good I think.

Nice works of art from all over the place here, but I sincerely hope that one entry has become history. The shark-toothed fist looked like too much pain to last.

Well, here's my British Mk. III Centurion, warts and all:

Still needs some weathering, but I'm probably not going to do much more than dust it up a little.

This started out as a Tamiya Centurion; I added Eduard PE, Accurate Armor PE skirts, Friul tracks, and a Barrel Depot barrel. The muzzle on the latter is not very accurate, so I "cheated" by adding the faux canvas muzzle cover. Same with the smoke launchers, as I wasn't very happy with how they turned out (and the photos I've seen of the Cents used had those covered).

My thanks to Polar Bear for the giving me a chance to finish this and add it to the campaign!

Great work, Cyberwombat! We now have armour from all participating nations.

A well deserved ribbon is on its way! How did the Bison decals work out? (There are plenty of interesting subjects for those armour guys that wishes to continue building Suez ground targets, see http://www.angelfire.com/pro/bison/35043.html. You will have to build those by yourselves, since this campaign has finally come to an end.

Cheers!

The Bison decals were nice but the red ones were off...you can see a white stripe down the side of almost all of them.

However...there's more than enough decals in one set to do two, maybe three vehicles of differening types. So, in all, I can't complain. The decals themselves laid down very nicely, and I would buy from them again.

Now if I can only finish the SU-100 I originally started for this campaign...
