Moving along on this:

Other progress photos will be in the "tear me apart, and make me cry Constructive Feedback Forum", where you can post in-progress or completed build photos, give and get constructive feedback, for those that choose to dare to tread where no man has gone before.

Here is an update on my BTR-80. I have now applied the three colour camouflage. It was quite difficult to apply the sand and black next to each other on the back end of the superstructure as all the vents tended to cause some overspray. However, after spraying and respraying I am quite satisfied with the result. Now it is on the detail painting and markings.

Thanks for looking.

Well I was able to bang this out the last three days, it the Trumpeter Stryker for the Wheels and Tires All the Way campaign. It’s built out the box as I wanted to get the feel of it. It was painted in three colors, first Tamiyas Olive Green #XF-58, then sprayed and highlighted with Tamiyas NATO Green #XF-67. Lastly I sprayed MM’s Med. Green #4734 in the panels centers and edges. I will try to depict this one from the 25th from Ft. Lewis, Washington while securing the Mexican boarder north of Hachita.

More to follow,
Joe

Hello everyone.

I started my project for the campaign today. Its a Vintage kit, Revell's German Command Car the Horch kfz.15. The box is dated 1976. I found this at a flea market with all the parts still on the spruces and the decals still in the box..

so far its going together very well. Fit is good, almost no flash, thought a lot of parts seem a little clunky.. and the plastic is fairly brittle.

Joe its glad to see you on board. It been a while since we've talked. Your Stryker looks great but I had no idea that they were being used for border patrol, thought that was a National Guard thing. Anyway, keep it up. As soon as I get some free time and spare funds, the AFV kit is at the top of my "to buy" list.

Delbert its great to see such an old model being built. What scale is that? Hope it turns out well.

Hey Jeff,
Yeah I have a photo which show two Stryker's along the New Mexican Highway. Also in the photo it shows the Stryker's using the ACAV gun shields, I'd like to install one but the photo isn’t that clear in showing it, I did a search and came up with nothing. Thanks…

Hey Jeff

the box says its 1/35 scale.. :>

I'm going to build it straight OOB so it can be compared wth the newer kits when built.

Joe, that is very interesting. They must be Strykers from the PA National Guard - the only others are all active duty. I wonder if they were RVs or CVs, the recon or command version. I would imagine an ACAV shield would block the RWS optics of an M1126, plus since its a remote systems, why shield it? Or were the ACAV shields for the rear air guard hatches?

Roberto go ahead. Good luck with the campaign.

Very interesting. Looking forward to see you progress on this one.

Is this the old Italeri kit reboxed or a completely new offering?

Here is one of the photos from the site...

I tried to blow it up some to get a closer look, shield seems to be in front station, also notice the blast panels are installed on this vehicle...

Ok so those are the recon vehicles. They do not have an RCS, but a thermal viewer called Long Range Acquisition System (LRAS). It has a mount for anything up to a .50, but most of the time I see them with M240Bs.

The photo was taken in October 2005 according to that site. It was June 2006 when Bush sent in the National Guard, so this was taken months before that. I had no idea they sent an Active unit down to the border, but I couldn't find anything other than slight references about it.

Here is a shot without the shield:

Concord's Humvees in Iraq has a great series of shots of it on a humvee

Hi Roberto

OK, I build the Zvezda/Italeri kit of the scout car for the "Best of British" campaign, so if you post progress pictures along the way, I will probably be able to see if it is a new or reissued kit.

I have finally bought all of the needed kits. I did the sub-building of the guns and such this past week. I also measured and began cutting the plastic card that will eventually be armor. It is going to be a Vietnam era gun-truck. I bought the standard truck kit so that I could do a bit of scratchbuilding.

Here is my finished entry, Trumpeters 1/35th M1126 Stryker built out of box. The gear is from Goffy and ProArt resin modern sets. A few posts back explains it's painting.

There are more photos in my gallery. Great campaign Jeff, enjoyed myself, thanks...

Hi all!

This is a Campiaign I won´t miss as I have a real "soft spot" for softskins!

My build could have been a contender for both the "Paint me Yellow" ( Built the Abrams for that) , and the "Best of the British (was too late and missed that ) Campaigns.

So here It Is, The Tamiya Quad Gun Tractor with a 25pdr and a ammo trailer in 1/35!

Ain´t that cute, In a way only a Mother could love?

I have started construction, pics coming soon!

Cheers!

I have recently built the Quad for the Best of British campaign. It's really cute in that ugly sort of way It builds nicely and falls together without much problem. However as the kit is old, there are some mold marks on some visible places, you will have to deal with those. Also I would recommend you not to use the driver figure. It doesn't fit and doesn't look so good anyway. The decals are a little thick (just like other old Tamiya kits), try to bury them in with gloss and then matt cote.

Hi all, i am giong to enter this little beauty:

got it on Friday and i have just started ... leaving some nice fingerprints on the doors ..rats

It is a pretty nice kit although there are pretty much ejector marks and of course the Tamiya "feature" I hate wholeheartedly .. metal chassis

Some sprue shots can be found here: Tamiya Steyr 1500 A/01 1/48

and here is a first in progress picture

best wishes
