Thanks for the advice Steve, I've been looking around for different sites with wiring guides and such and have found one thats very helpful in that respect.

You wouldn't want to share it with me would you Mark? Pleeease!

On another note, my build is now finished! Will get some photos up later for your viewing pleasure.

Cheers,

James

Hey guys,

Some real progress on some builds here, was such a good idea for a campaign as some really cool and unusal builds are appearing.
How good does India11A's sherman look in 3 tone camo? Best not let Brad or any of the other 'OD builders' see that! lol

As promised some updated pics of my build can now be seen on my thread: HERE

Cheers,

James

That looks great, James. A real interesting build that seems to be coming along nicely

Are the trousers for the commander based on any reference? I thought that these trousers made from Italian camouflage material were only used by the Germans after 1943(?) However, I could be wrong as I am no expert.

Anyway, he is a great figure under all circumstances

Thanx for the comments guys. All the cam patterns I have done recently have been brushed hard edge. Never did any German camo. It is pretty cool looking. Started weathering and detail painting. Pictures to follow.

James- Very cool bren carrier. I wonder how stable a firing platform the poor old beast was?

Thanks for the kind words Jesper, the trousers are indeed based on some reference material I have which show soldiers in Italy often had trousers tailored from the material.
I know the figure is from a 1941-42 set but I intend to set the scene in summer 1944 so I should be ok!

Probably not that stable! I imagine you would have some trouble with it rocking and perhaps the suspension compressing under fire, though I don't think the recoil from the single 20mm gun of the Flak 38 would be too serious so it might have been ok.

Thanks for all the comments guys, will have some more pics up very shortly!

Cool, then you would definently be on the safe side. Looking forward to see your project progress. It will be a very unusual and unique looking vehicle.

Good job so far

I have painted on the camouflage on my Finnish BT-42. Quite satisfied with the result so far. Next the tracks will come on and some details will be painted....

More updates will follow later - comments welcome.

Finished product! Did not add any storage as I figured by this late in the war the Germans just did not have much in the way of stores. I weathered with oils and enamels. I added the cheek armour, exhaust from Formations, fender strips and used the kit tracks with the EEC's removed. Decals are from Bison Decals. Hope you like it!

Added extra road wheels in hull rear.

Cool looking camo Jesper, the Finns were quite unique in how they camo'd their tanks.

It looks like you win the "prize" for completing your entry India, make sure you upload a pic or two into the campaign photo folder, unless you already have, in which case well done.

@India111 and Mark: thanks for the kind words. I hope it will turn out right in the end.

@India111: very cool Sherman! It really changes the appearence of a vehicle when it is repainted in unusual camouflage and with adversary markings. It is definently a change from all those OD Shermans! Great job!

Here is an update on my build.

I have finished the tracks, which went together very well. I were fearing that there would be problems with adjusting the length of the track as the links are pretty long and it is difficult to adjust length by increasing the sag of the tracks as the top track is made up of two long lengths of track. In the end everything worked out.

I also added a bit of chipping and a few touch up on the tracks. Now on to markings and weathering

^ Looking very nice so far. It's good to see the occasional uncommon subject.

My T-34's coming along as well. Some of the grab rails are attached to the hull and yesterday I installed the healights and scratchbuilt the inner louvers that go under the air-intake screen.

Here's the other headlight up-close. It's a resin part from JS-models, with hinges made from scrap PE and squash-molded rivets. Copper wire makes the protective tube for the power cable, which is thin wire. Still to be done are the parts that hold up the light when it's in use.

Since I used an aftermarket PE mesh for the engine intake cover, I made the inner louvers from a used PE fret and a needle. (this is the earlier version of the kit which doesn't have any PE) Since I doubt the original parts had the text "eduard 2003", I filled it with superglue. To be sure the text was gone, I brushed on a coat of mr. surfacer and sanded again.

Jesper, your build looks good. The strange Finnish camo is especially eye-catching. Great captured Beetle( Of course since it is modified can we call it a Beetle like the Russians did? Question worth asking).

Eetu, you T-34 looks to be coming along very nicely. So nice that I started thinking of laying all of my ongoing seven projects and build a T-34

I finally managed to open the box of my Trumpeter KV-2, namely "German Pzkfw KV-2 754(r). The kit looks great! Especially since it cost me only 12 Euros (you can't buy even a Tamiya Kubelwagen in Turkey for that price) it is a miracle! I am writing an article about it on a local modelling site. After that, I will get to building it.

Hi Emre, thanks for the nice words To be honest I had no idea the Russians called it a beetle. Did they call the BT-42 beetle or the BT-5/7 beetle? Anyway, we can call it beetle.

I build Trumpeters KV-2 (not the captured version though) It is a great kit! Be carefull not to shake the box too much. It might build itself

As far as I know, the Russians called their BT tanks, namely BT-5 and BT-7, as "Betka", which means Beetle.
