The hatch would be hinged back, so you'd need to cut it off, but few would notice the difference.
And Pete beat me to it, but I got my review from Mig by him talking to me here on the website, so talking to him is the best way to go. A bit of warning, it may take a couple days for him to get to you. Also try the main Mig website.

Nice shots! I appreciate the one in particular where it shows where the wall behind the rear seat sits in relation to the open trunk.
Thanks

Cutting the hatch off and bending it back is no problem (like you know). Thanks both Pete and Jeff for the information about Mig, I'll try an email on his web site, probably better that way.

I have been lurking on the board for almost 5 years without making a post.
This thread deserves my first post. Amazing and inspiring.
Could you please post links to the tools you are using to cut these things so small? I always have difficulty doing it.

I was a lurker for a long time as well and it was some one's amazing build that inspired me to start modeling again and join this group. I have learned a lot since I joined up here. But most of all I learned to be serious about what I was doing as the members here are serious about their modeling.
I use the standard stuff, but I have bought some new gismos that really saves time and insures accuracy.
The Chopper, and True Sander really help a lot.http://www.nwsl.com/
Mission Models etch mate and both multi tools are a must http://missionmodels.com/home.php?cat=313
A good punch and die set http://www.thebarrelstore.com/AED/AED001R.jpg
Lots of styrene sheet and dimensional stock from Ever Green and Plasti-Strut
One tool that I have discovered that makes my life a lot easier is a Japanese wood block cutters straight chisel. It is about 5mm across and it is a s sharp as a razor. I use it all the time to ensure complex cuts where the chopper can't go.
Other than those things lots of lights and a magnifying glass attached to a flouresent light for my failing eye sight.
More than you wanted to know I'm sure but there you go.
Thanks for the compliment.

Jeff and Pete
I sent Mig Jimenez an email this afternoon and this evening I got a response. He is quite a gentleman and very concerned that the part in question was his responsibility, he said they pride themselves on customer service. He asked me to send him pictures of the parts in question and he'd send me the newer ones. I am very happy you guys encouraged me to do this.
Thanks

This is the issue I had with the roof on my early mig M1114 conversion kit. I have the new kit you reviewed as well so I have that to compare it to. It is a relief to not have to use this old roof. The louvers were all muddled up but the new mold must be excellent because the resin is sharp and sits on the Tamiya body properly.
Note the measurments.

Good news on the roof Bill, i might get in contact with him myself, only trouble is-I bought 3 of the damn things so I got 3 warped roofs, along with warped windscreen, bent rear bumper and plethora of other problems.

He seems amenable to correcting the issue. I have heard many a mention about these problems right from the beginning.
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/mig/mp35254.htm
The new set which Sean has recently recieved apparently is very good.

I must say that now I am excited to build my M1114's without having to jury rig the roof any longer.
Good luck

Hello Guys
I have been watching this thread and another at: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/110257&page=1. I will be posting this at the end of that thread as well. You guys have some great work posted here making me glad that my interests are more Second War related (although that has been changing).
I just wanted to inform all of you that we did experience a few problems with a limited number of roofs in the initial production run of HMMWVs in set no. 35-254. This problem has been addressed and we are sorry for any inconvenience it might have caused any of you. MIG and I are also modellers and we understand the frustration of poorly produced resin accessories.
Please also note that our original HMMWV, set no. 35-254, has the same parts as the new HMMWV set no. 35-269. The difference is that set 35-269 also includes the wheels, PE cupola and DUSHKA MG.
Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding this topic.
Sincerely
ANPW

Boggie,
I read on your Stryker thread how you plan to buy four sets of PE for the Rhyno. Knowing what a stickler you are for detail, I thought I'd save you a little disappointment. I'll email pics soon. Have some ongoing business to take care of.

Saving me disappointment is a good thing, life is too full of disappointments already without spending money for them. I await your alternative.

Ha ha ha It must be evening in the sand box and you're on the computer, I saw a couple of posts of yours today.
I am struggling with my 1114 interior at the moment, not that anyone will ever see it beneath the glass block windows and all, but guys like you are sure to look down the turret and see something if I took a short cut..;o) Have you seen the etch set of Ryno Miloslav has on his latest Stryker?
My laptop died and it took your pictures with it (and many more), very sad. It'll be 3 weeks before I can get another to replace it but in the mean time the email address you have is good, I just get things off the server.
Be good out there.

Yeah how you doing? I guess the old adage "you don't know what you got til it's gone" is really true. Very generous of you Jeff and I'll take you up on it when I get back to my home computer in a few weeks. Like wise here if I can get you anything let me know.
How'd the IED presentation go?
Best wishes

Presentation is Friday. Ironically, that night I go to a military base known as Camp Atterbury to play OPFOR for a Long Range Surveillance (LRS) unit - its the closest thing the Indiana National Guard has to an Airborne, special forces unit. Basically depending on where I'm placed, I could be anything from a disenfranchised civilian to putting to practice my presentation - that is emplacing IEDs, blowing stuff up, ambushing "coalition forces" and generally giving the good guys some outstanding training. Should be really cool, I'll let you know how both go.
Also, something to invest in would be an external hard drive. This way you can back up important files, music, and photos as well as have additional space for whatever. I paid about $90 for a 100GB external hard drive (my laptop has 30GB) so I was able to back my stuff up and put all my games on there with room to spare. There are larger EHDs but you'll pay more for larger space obviously.

The up side of my computer trauma is that I had transferred my entire laptop into a new desktop I had bought before coming north so all I've lost is what happened between then and my coming here. I also have an external HD ...at home, so next time I'll travel with it and make those critical back ups. Friends on this forum have been very kind and offered to send the stuff I miss the most, Frenchy's pictures, 18 Bravo's Ryino detail shots and dimensions stuff like that.
On another note MIG has sent me a new complete resin kit to replace the distorted one,it is on my bench waiting my return.
Have fun with your OPFOR and let us know ll about it, I'm off to build some Frag 5 doors.

Jeff,
Not to take this completely off-topic but how do you like playing games on your external hard drive? My PC is a reasonably fast machine but the hard drive is only 70G. These days with my kids MP3's, my pics, office applications, etc, I only have room for 2-3 games at a time (anyone remember when a good PC game came on 3-4 floppys?).
Anyway, I was just wondering how well you can play games on an external hard drive. I had assumed that the data transfer rate through the USB port would be too slow for games.
Regards,
John

John, without getting too off topic - not that this forum hasn't done that so much anyway! - it really is hard to tell. I have a 1.5Ghz Centrino processor on a nearly 4 year old computer so most of the game I play are not that advanced by today's standards. When I do play, every now and then it hiccups when it needs to catch up with the game. Otherwise it plays pretty well. I use it as a stop gap because my hard drive is so small. When I get a new computer, then I'll utilize the hard drive for the games, but it works. Obviously I can't play the games though without it, but since my battery is shot anyways, I don't use my laptop as a laptop anymore.
Bill, I look forward to your doors. Have you considered making any of the newer doors?

Hi John! I have a high end gaming system and I use an extrernal ESATA hard drive that I have Vista Ultimate 64 installed plus several games with no problems. However, I can't speak for the USB port and not all motherboards have an ESATA connection. If yours does, go with an esata external and you will have no problems for sure but try a USB external first, just make sure it's at least 7200RPM. Good luck hope this helps.

I'm very interested in the doors on the M1151's, are they called Frag 6 doors? I can count on you to keep me up to date on the correct terminologies. I have pictures of them but nothing specific enough. I'd really like some measurements, that's what made it possible for the doors I'm doing now (frag 5???), that and the Mig resin conversion. So keep your eyes out for some detail door shots, especially front on and side views.
Do you know if it is basically the M1114 with the few external changes that we have talked about before? Quarter panel vents on both sides front wheel well and sliding glass in the doors?
Thanks for asking
Bill
