I'll be picking up the Alan Grille M at my next club meeting (mid-July). I want to give it a good looking over to see if I want to tackle it. However, if the kit looks like a bit O' aftermarket and elbow grease can turn it into something reasonable, then I'll take the plunge (I've never done a campaign before).

I'm in the middle of one of those right now.
my goal is to finish it before dragon releases a mold of it (which would be easy for them given their considerable 38(t) series).
it builds up decent OTB, but it can be made great with a fair bit of extra work.
I also used extra road wheels from the dragon gepard flakpanzer kit - the Alan ones blow.

At the risk of high-jacking the thread, may I ask if you used the Eduard sets or the TMD s.I.G. 33? These are two of upgrades that I'm considering and would love to hear your opinion of them.

actually, i am not using either - i am kitbashing and scratching my upgrades, and the s.i.g. 33 is one of those bits i am mostly just using from the kit with extra wrk of my own - though i haven't committed to the barrel completely yet - I do have an aluminum aftermarket one i am toying with.
I'll take some pics of it this weekend and maybe start a WIP thread if you are interested in seeing it.

I'm going to try my hand at zimmerit for the first time on this build.
Any ideas as to who sells the correct tool(s) I need for this?

You don't need to do this... I would hate for you to go to any trouble on my account. Besides, even though I haven't seen the kit yet (I'll be picking it up at my club meeting on Thursday night) I've already pulled the trigger on the two Eduard sets. Though I'm a ham fisted klutz (more likely to superglue PE bits to my fingers rather than the model), I actually get some sort of twisted sense of satisfaction when I finally get a bit of PE put on a model. Maybe some day I'll even give Aber tool clamps a go...
Again, thank you for your generous offer. Once I have a chance to peek in the box and decide if I'm up for doing the Grille right now I'll make a final decision on the campaign.

It's too bad Dragon's Sd.Kfz.138/1 Geschützwagen 38 M für s.IG.33/2 isn't out
right now.
That would be my first choice!

I'm currently in a raec to see if i can get me Alan one done before the dragon comes out (probably not).

I might do this anyway - just to motivate me to finish it before the dragon kit comes out (that way I won't have to spend the $$$ on the dragon kit!).
you realize that you all owe me for strarting a serious kitbash of the Alan kit in order to provide the cause the universe needed to get Dragon to release their Dragon's Sd.Kfz.138/1 Geschützwagen 38 M für s.IG.33/2.

I thought that it was me... I saw the Dragon announcement just a couple of days after I paid for both Eduard sets for the Alan kit.

ah, well then, that explains it - clearly the modeling gods couldn't stand for TWO people to be so invested into the old kit for a new mold to not be created!

Both should be good for this campaign, so I guess it is up to you. What kit is the M-108?

Not too sure of the SOP for this but I have joined this morning.
I have dug out some John Church plans, a Toadman CD,
the AFV Club Walker Bulldog kit and some extra suspension bits and a couple of packets of the T19 track sets.
The aim is for a shiney M44 from BAOR circa 1960-65, maybe 1 RHA or 4 rgt RA.
I suppose I will have to post pictures so a new skill before years end then.

.
Me too racy looking beast. All the RA vehicle photos show them quite clean and polished even on the ranges, to achieve that and get the wear and tear in will be a challenge
