It's been a while so I thought I'd post this small update. Please note these pieces are dry fit and in one image the top suspension arm is not in a perfect alignment, that will be sorted out once everything comes together.
Photobucket
Here are the pieces to date, there needs to be drive shafts and the assembly that attaches to the wheel, these atttach to the transfer case. The rear back transfer case is different from the front (of course) so this would be the front case.

Seb
Have you bought your new camera yet? Any pics of the external bins?
I'm still north for he next while and far away from casting equipment. I will try and cast the bits to make the rear transfer case a little easier to fabricate. Lots to do yet.
Look forward to your progress.

I just found this picture on the Australian DOD site. I wasn't sure where to post this query but I'll try here instead of the ASLAV thread.

Why would the Australian DOD buy one Kongsberg RWS for the ASLAV 25 APC
http://www.kongsberg.com/eng/kda/products/DynamicSystems/RemoteWeaponStation/ProtectorM151/
and another version (CROWS) for the Bushmaster?

For what it's worth, here's a snap I took inside a Bushmaster back in 2005:

Hmmm
I knew by posting the question about the RWS here it might confuse things. Great to see your picture Mick. If you have others please share as it isn't easy to get pic from the inside of these vehicles.
Jason, if the Kogsberg is too heavy for the roof of the Bushie then how is it mounted there? Kogsberg manufactures both of these models (and then some other models too) as far as I know, could it be that the CROWS system is lighter than the M151 and that's why they use it on the Bushie?
Here is a nice detail shot showing an interesting mod, Hesco mesh to make stowage bins.
Photobucket
Seb Is it possible to make your new BM plans a higher resolution? When I print them out to scale they are blurry.

Bill

I hadn't realized that the Bushmaster was originally fitted with the Recon Optical RWS, I thought there was only the Kogsberg CROWS. The term CROWS stands for "Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station" and is not a brand name held by one firm, my mistake. Thanks for pointing that out Frenchy.

Since Jason M thought the Kogsberg RWS was too heavy for the Bushmaster the Recon Optical must be a lot lighter.
So now the Australian DOD has two completely different RWS's to deal with.
I learned something new today so it was a good day.

Bill, it is a lot lighter than the Kong and also made locally.
The Kong was originally only an interim weapons system for the ASLAV PC.

Interesting, thanks for the detective work. So if the Kog was a temporary fix for the ASLAV PC are they now using Recon Optical system? I have yet to see a picture of the RO on the PC.
Well this seems to me like an opportunity for some one to manufacture the RO style RWS then. Only a matter of time before Trump comes out with a plastic PC as well I'd think.
Have a good one

And you proberly wont see an RO on the PC mate. As for all things in this mans army, it started out as only a temporary solution, but it seems to have stuck fast.
One of the other resons is the low height of the RO on the Bushmaster.

I will have to do a review for that one as well, if you don't beat me to it Bill.

All I know about the PC is what I learned from you guys down under. You guys are the pros not me. Besides now that you are a published author everyone will be clambering for your services.
I appreciate your generosity in sharing what you know.

Hi seb,
Nice work on that Bushmaster! Just in case you hadn't seen these yet, there are some good pictures of a Dutch Bushmaster on this page:

IPMS NL Bushmaster pictures

If you scroll to the bottom there are about 7 interior shots. Hope this helps. Keep posting those great pictures!

Not that the Bushmaster isn't hard enough on it's own to scratch build now the Dutch have added what looks to be something similar to the Buffalo.

Hi Bill
Talking about scratchbuilding the Bushmaster, did you notice these 3D drawings of the forthcoming Trumpeter M1117 kit ?

Now that look familiar doesn't it? That would certainly help resolve MY issues with scratch building the Bushmaster. Thanks for sharing that tid bit, excellent news. It will be hard however to buy the M1117 and rob the suspension, perhaps Trump would sell me just those sprues or at least I could see what needs to be scratched and build it myself.
There is hope then.
Regards
Bill
