The Kongsberg is to heavy for the roof of the Bushmaster Bill.
Cheers Jason
PS Nice work there Seb
Jason,
The Kongsberg is mounted on a foreign army's Bushmaster (no, not the RNLA's AMV) - it's not too heavy for the roof. I'm spit-balling here, but as the CROW/PWS is produced in Queanbeyan and Recon/Optical didn't get the ASLAV contract.. . . . .
Who knows?

Well Bill
By spending 200 dollars in bags, backpaks, cases and more, it is possible to do it because the trailer is kind of big.
Does our aussies friends have intel on this trailer ???
Seb
They look like the 9 tonne trailer. Usually found behind mogs. I'll ask a mate who is transport corps for fore info.

Here are two pics showing 8-ton (I think
) "Army heavy rigid trailers" being loaded onto a civilian semi trailer in Iraq (Operation Catalyst) :
Hi-Res Hi-Res PS : according to the logo on the mud flaps, they're made by Haulmark Trailers.

Hi Seb!!
Great work on your Bushi mate!! Keep it up.
Does any one out their know how close the M1117 suspenshion is compaerd to the Bushmasters?
Also does any one have any picture of the complete underside of the Bushmaster? As i would like to see how the exhaust is connected and other details for a future build.

The pictures of the belly of the Bushmaster are the holy grail. If you have those shots you have the Bushmaster. Seb is the only one that has tried the M1117 suspension on his Bushie so far. I guess along with the undersides the second holy grail is the suspension images from all angles.

Hey there guys the trailerers are standard ADF equiptment as for the crows or any differnt weapons systems on the roof you may need to check reference material as they have some form of reinforcement in the construction phase and therefore would be in some way different to aussie bushmasters Ive never heard or have seen the use of non ADF tested equiptment maybe a what if but not the done thing.
Hope that helps some what for your build cheers cuny12.

Okley dockley. The Trailers huh. Well they are both 8t trailers and both made by Haulmark. The first is what we would have called a tilt bed in the old days although it no longer tilts. It has built in ramps as seen on the photos and now are predominately used by our Engineers to load their Bobcats etc but other Units still use them for transporting their forklifts etc. They can be seen being towed behind Unimogs and occassionally our Macks but these tend to use the 20t more often then not. The photo of the trailers being loaded onto the semi shows the difference between the two types well. They were being loaded after OBG-W wrapped up. The bloke on the left was one of our Recovery Mechanics.
The 8t has one of those articulated turn tables on the front axles which can be locked by the use of a bar. Pretty much been standard in the ADF for the last 20 years and probably will be for a few more yet. The 1250kg dual axle is one of a couple of types being introduced in the past 5 - 8 years to replace the old 1/2t trailers we have been using since Vietnam.
Sorry for the really late reply on this but I was in Afghanistan when this thread popped up so better late than never. The sad thing is they have never excited me so I don't have any decent photos.
Cheers, John

Plus the wire baskets fitted on the roof of the PMVs are HESCOs. MRTF2 took most of them off as we found they obstructed the crewies view and made it harder to communicate with the rear shooters. I think it was just an Armoured Corps thing, we like to see the big picture. We used the lower profile plastic trunks for the extra storage although the Ginger Beers we had still kept most of their HESCOs (much to the annoyance of our SSM). We used to cut the HESCO down and make a basket to sit under the front side windows to hold boxes of water and rations. Some had old ration tins fitted to the left rear for rubbish bins.
In one of the photos you can see the 20t recovery trailers used by our RAEME and RAE. They're the ones with the really big white ramps. Scary to drive up onto especially in the rain and on tracks not tyres. Oh and I should have mentioned that the 8t where used for cargo as seen despite its designation and the Dutch used to borrow our 20t's for the replen runs out to the PBs so it isn't unusuall to see a Scania pulling one of ours.
Hope that helps someone.
Cheers, John

Many thanks for the details, always good to get first hand information. There isn't much interest in the trailers now but if the Bushmaster ever comes out in plastic perhaps someone might be interested in scratch building one? Have you any pics of the Hesco baskets mods for under the windows?
It is never too late to pick up a thread.

Hi Bill.
Strangely I didn't take to many good photos of the front of the vehicles. After looking through them I remembered that most drivers didn't put them uder their windows so they could still use the document hatch.
Here is a couple of photos I found.
I'll have to try and find my external drives to see if I have more photos. I'm sure I have. The HESCO mod depended on the crew and how much effort they wanted to put in. It ranged from cutting and bending the wire or having just a panel to securing it all with an AD strap. The loadmasters weren't happy with us cause they kept loosing their AD Straps. But they are just soooo handy.
Cheers, John

Isn't it just the way it happens, you start to scratch build an item then they release a kit of the item while you are building your scratch built one?
I am waiting with baited breath for the kit to come out.. hopefully this month!

Thanks for sharing your photos, I see a number of things I've never seen before. Besides the mesh bins the lip to support the upper front mg mount and the box like container over the AC intake (outtake) slots. Any chance you could add your photos in a tad larger format so we can see the details better?
