Jeff, I have build that kit 2 yrs ago.
It was a great kit. No big problems, just be careful with 2 or 3 things:
- don't glue the idler wheel, just when putting the tracks up, it isn't very easy to fit them.
- the PE set included for the front lights protection is quite fragile.
- the cables (step 19 & 20) are a little tricky to pass between parts B32/33 and B55; also the scheme on step 20 isn't the most obvious...

Hello Paul,

maybe this answer does not help you but the EX has been built on KMW's own account and does not belong to the German Armed Forces.

Though it has the German insignias which may be only applied with permission there are no certain markings indicating to which unit this vehicle belong to.

Usually the tactical sign right next to the left lamp identifies the unit - in this case there is the tactical sign of the Panzertruppe only.

A number plate is another feature of a BW-tank.

Thanks Gareth !

Thanks Marco - looks like the HB kit has the markings you mention. This will be a HB / Tamiya kit bash, with little or no dust by the looks of it

Cheers

Hi folks

I have two models I want to do under this campaign. Both are going to use Revell kits as the basis for conversion.

The first into a van type medics vehicle

The other into a box bodied ambulance

Hello everybody, nice projects so far. I built a Leopard A2A6 from Tamiya and is already finished...... I completely forgot about the dates of the campaign...hehehe

Anyhow, I am posting some pictures taken inside my house as the weather outside is so bad that I wouldn't dare to take picture with daylight, so excuse the lighting quality.

I have to add that the quality of this kit is amazing, it could be bult almost completely OOB and end up being a very nice model. In my case in particular I added a barrel from Barrel Depot and that was it.....just because I am kindda lazy and do not like to be sanding the barrels.....

Here some pictures and explanations where necessary....

Here the kit after being painted without the tracks yet. Colors are from Tamiya Acrylics for the NATO vehicles

I painted the tracks with a base coat of Tamiya XF-64 and then applied a wash with a very cheap sand or dust like color acrylic bought at Walmart, very diluted...Prior to this all the kit received a wash with a mixture of black ivory+raw umber oils to give some depth.

Next step consisted of painting the figures provided by the kit as well as making a base for it. Again, the color seen on the base is the same cheap Walmart acrylic...

Well, I will be following all your projects, please post any questions or comments about the build.

Just started my Wiesel:
progress so far, not much, cutting wheels and rear hull parts.
I tend to like AFV kits, build 2 so far a german M88 recovery and a Half-track, very detailed kits and very good fitting.
The Wiesel is indeed a very small kit, I'll remember to take some pics next to a King tiger or even a Panzer III.
Anyway, this is going to be another great campaign !!!

Take care fellow campaignoolics !!

My PzH2000 has been started. Filled any sinkholes/ejector marks, mostly on the turret and started removing the details that will be replaced by etched parts. So far a slow but steady progress, currently cursing the warning panels on the front fender.

Nice Leopard mate!!

Do they really wear Russian tank crew headgear in the modern German Army still?

I have two old Tamiya kits to choose from, a Kampfpanzer Leopard or Schutzenpanzer Marder. Think it will be the Marder as Leopards are going to be a bit common methiks.. :-)

Model on!

Hello!

These are no russian headgears. These are modern German tank "helmets" equipped with voice radio. They should prevent injuries of the head while driving through rough terrain. But normally, the tankers wear only their black berets with a microphone for the radio. It looks better

Best regards from Germany

Hello, here is my entry, Wiesel TOW, to the Bundeswehr campaign. The kit comes from AFV Club and the figure is from Jaguar.

Cheers

Question: How to I post pictures here?

Otherwise the PzH2000 is coming along fine and I have actually started painting the beast (First try with an Airbrush ) so pre-weathering pictures should be availabel on Sunday.

And since it is a german PzH2000, there will only be minor weathering or wear. After all it spends most of it's time on a hardstand, being lovely washed and painted by conscripts. So maybe a light dust cover showing a PzH on Tuesday (Washing is done on Wednesday after all)

OK here's my entry. This is the Leopard 2A6 from Tamiya. Have to say this kit went together like a dream. The only added extra was a barrel from Jordi Rubio.

I've decided to join my first Armorama Campaign...i normally build cars or aircraft, so go easy on me.

I got this kit for $2 at a swap meet last weekend. I always wanted the Tamiya Marder when i was a kid...but i couldn't afford to buy it. Ironically i now buy it at a price that i could have afforded even on my lawn mowing money in 1980.

I assume that the newer Revell kit is a totally new tooling and not based upon the old Tamiya kit?

Anyway, i'll be building it OOB as a fill ijn subject whilst i wait for the filler and paint to set on my main project.

Hi Andrew,

I have built Revell's Marder1A3 and also througly inspected the contents of Tamiya's Marder1A2. The kits are very different in every aspect. Revell's kit is newly tooled and much younger, has a much better level of detail, the anti-skid on the upper hull have the detail. The only problem is the britle plastic.

Tamiya's M1A2, on the other hand, has a good fit and nice plastic. The overall level of detail is much lower compared to Revell (a reason why I didn't buy it), you don't get anti-skid texture, a lot of hooks and any of the headlights, reflectors or warning lights (of which the original vehicle has a lot and Revell has included transparent plastic for all). On the plus side, Tamiya's Marder1A2 includes an engine and two crew members.

Lastly, Revell offers Marder1A3 variant, while Tamiya's is the older A2 variant. There are visible differences, especially the extra mounts on the sides of the vehicle. In conclusion, Revell offers a more detailed, late variant; while Tamiya offers an easy to build kit of an older variant. Hope this helps.
