I finally have decided what to build. I am a sucker for anti-aircraft guns, so the Italeri Demag D7 with Flak 38 will be the one. I know there are some question to the size of the running gear, but I will try and do it OOB.

If I can still sneak in, I would like to join in the fun with the Sd.Kfz. 250/1 which I bought yesterday. I was going to buy 234/3, but the little halftrack just took my fancy.

Hey Jesper,
Glad to see we are on same model . What camouflage scheme were you thinking of?
I had problems to get that box shut once it was open, It was so full of stuff.

Yes, it is incredible what they stuff in there. So many cool extra parts. There is still parts left for half a 251, when you are finished.

I am think of an overall dark yellow with green mottling as I have a colour plate of this in a book, but I have not decided yet.

Here is my latest progress. The details are stunning. There are even numbers on the middle road wheels although this might be difficult to see in the photos.

More to follow....

Hey,
I'm between two schemes, the 5. PzD "Wiking" one or Pz.Gren.Rgt 25 from this sheet:

Righto, straight in then.

I started last night, prepared one track length, and glued the first steps of the interior together. All these will remain as separate items, to facilitate painting the interior.

First impressions are good, but there are some inaccuracies in the kit that are very annoying to say the least. Despite Dragons self congratulatory blurb in the included 'inside story' flyer, they still managed to tell you in the instructions to add a number of features that are not part of the 250/1, but the 205/5... Bill Plunk reviewed the kit when it first came out, and his review can be found here

Anyway, here are some pictures of the first steps.

Cheers

Welcome aboard Henk! Good luck on your 250!

Good progress Jesper. I am still itching to buy that kit but restraining myself. Let's see how yours turns out.

Vance, I guess you have the most advanced build, hope you can keep going at it in your busy October. Which color is that interior, Vallejo buff like the drivers compartment?

Welcome aboard Taylor. That Italeri Demag might actually be an old Esci kit, watch out for tracks if it is so. Also its flak might be a little outdated.

Tuomas, there are two 5. Panzer Wiking profiles over there with camo (and one in single color). Which one is the one you mentioned?

So long everyone,

Emre:
Thank you for the warning. I'm not sure of the kits origin, but I will throw paint and putty at it and see what happens

Oh, you are right. I mean that lower one 1944 scheme, with "222" on its sides.

Personally I don't like thin striped three color camouflage, so I would go for the Rgt.25 one. But that's only me... (Plus that thin stripes could be harder to apply in 1/72)

Nice progress, Henk. There will be an army of 251s before this campaign is over

Tuomas, good looking schemes. I have the same decal sheet in 1/35 in the kit although my kit is a 251/22 version with the PAK 7.5 cm.

I thought you had the same kit as mine. Is your kit the standard 251? Since you are considering to use these schemes?

Yes I indeed have that same kit, DML 6248. I havent found many pictures/camouflage schemes of 251/22, except the ones in sheet.

Here's my addition to the 251-army!!

As said I am using an old Tamiya Ausf D with the conversionset for a 251/2 mortarcarrier by Azimut. I only did some very basic assembling, but the Azimutkit is very basic too, in every aspect! The entire floorsection is a singlepiece casting and only the gun, it's baseplate, ammunitionbins and rounds are single. The instructions are 1,5 A4 sheet of paper, including both text and drawings!
You have to cut of some pieces of the Tamiyahull in order for the whole thing to fit, but no problems here. The construction is really simple.
See for yourself:
The floor and gun assembled:

Floor added to the lower hull:

Upper hull added:

Hi guy's
Well someone had to break the 251/dot dot monopoly ,
thought I'd better make a start, not much to show for now, but that's scratchbuilding - one day you have a collection of bits'n'pieces the next it almost resembles something .
The oval dodats are the internal ribs for the fuel tank, plus the starting's of the main driveline assembly (engine block, gearbox, final drive) and the second attempt at the drive sprockets.
By the way "it's British"

More to follow soon

You had the picture of a 1/72 Armor Pro asking for the camo schemes, that confused me, sorry!

Casper, are you doing that British halftrack that was uploaded in the pre-campaign topic? The one photographed during a pass over an obstacle?

Emre,
No it's not one I've shown a pic of in the other thread. While at a local Vintage Steam/Machinery/Vehicle Musuem I came across another Half-track and thought "hmmm now that is interesting, no-one else will build one, so I will ". So I'm now armed with 150+ photos and measurements for pretty much every nut, bolt and piece of steel on it - I have begun .
Sorry about the pic quality - it's in a very awkward location to photograph.

It's a Fordson Major E27N DG4 dating from 1948.
Just been messing about with the front steering rack and ading a bit of detail to the engine block. Not looking forward to making a start on the radiator casting, I can foresee a few attempts before I get an acceptable piece
Hey Ron - I said I can't resist a challenge .

now now Emre,
you shouldn't call a crazy man crazy! It is better to refer to him as being confused and his undertakings as challenges....

And this is the most challenging project I have come across in an long long, time!!!

Wow, interesting project, Casper. You really break the 251 dominance with style
That orange colour is not what one would normally have in stock for panzers. This will be an interesting project to follow.

Looking forward to see more
