Okay, now as promised, I am finally able to post some WIP pics of my current project, the 1/35 AFV Club 251/1 Ausf C. The kit is coming along pretty well. There are a few fit issues here and there but nothing that some elbow grease couldn't take care of. I am building the model using the Eduard PE set but I must say that I have mix feelings about it's accuracy. Being the only PE set out there for this model (I wish Aber of Lion Roar could make one) it was all I could use. It's better than some of the kit's parts though.

Okay, onto the pics:

Pic of the AFV Box art (pretty nice)

Some work on the driver's compartment (note the Eduard pedals - which are nice but not entirely accurate)

Here's a front shot of the interior .

Here's a top view of the fighting compartment (note the noticeable gaps on both sides of the rear floor plate -- Any ideas as to how I could take care of this?)

Here's the completed suspension ( added a brass rod to replace the steering arm (?) since the plastic one was completely deformed)

A pic of the completed bottom (minus towing pintle, etc)

Some work done on the bulkhead with some Eduard PE added. AFV's plastic is really soft so usually any sanding is very noticeable.

A side shot with the front wheels installed and some of the roadwheels

Lastly, a front shot of the wheels in place. I love the inward slant of the wheels as in the real thing(had to use some Mr. Surfacer as there were tiny gaps when I joined the wheels halves together)

Anyway, a fun project so far. The kit has its low points but it can't be beat when it comes to accuracy (reason why I decided to go with AFV CLub rather than with Dragon).

I'll post some more pics soon...

Hello everybody, very nice progress pics on all your projects, here some pre-painting arrangements of the scene for my Sdkfz 7 from Tamiya..........
Some changes and scratchin on the rear:

Some extra metal pieces here and there:

Here the final idea...missing only one figure and some extra details such as boxes, ammo, etc

Mirko

Hi Mirko

I am trying to something similar to you. I have the Dragon gun and the Trumpeter half track. You wouldn't have any photo's of that Artillery piece in action. Apart from the box art I can't find anything

Excellent looking diorama, Mirko. Looks like a great layout. Looking forward to see more as it progresses.

Since there seems to be a lot of modellers making Sd.Kfz. 251/22s for this campaign I thought I would share some info and some colour profiles. But do not make "black 545" - that one is mine, I saw it first (On a serious note, make whatever you want. )
Pictures are few and far between, so if anybody has any additional pictures please share as inspiration.

Nice pics there Jesper, thanks!

What book did you get the profiles from? I wouldn't mind getting this bool as I have another 10 or so 251s in the stash I'll be working on. The more reference books the better.

Thanks,

Rob

Very nice pictures Jesper. I would also be very interested in that book, some polish one?
I think I have found my one too, it's just of a unknown unit.

I'm not sure thought if I am going to paint those non-green spots with german camouflage brown or or dark red.

Yes, most of the profiles and some pictures are from the Militaria books on the Sd.Kfz. 251. The book has many rare pictures and lots of cool colour profiles. It is highly recommended. I bought a special adition where both Vol. I and Vol. II on the Sd.Kfz. 251 are put together in one book.

You can see the book HERE AT JADARHOBBY

Looks good, Anthony. A nice little desert racer

Nice progress, Mirko. The grey colour seems very light, but that might be the lighting in the photos.

Looking forward to see more

After the initial building steps went quite well, I now have reached that stage were the proceedings slow down. Painting the interior. Got the engine done, as well as most of the interior itself. Still need to CA glue some of the PE on the left inside wall.

Despite Dragons attempts to frustrate this kit, I'm enjoying it. Simple enough to enjoy the building, without being to simplified. If only Dragon would have done their homework on the instructions..

Just one picture right now, more to follow.

Nice progress, Henk. There will be an army of 251s before this campaign is over

It's not a 251 Jesper, it's a 250/1

Hello Everybody, I know there might be smoe concerns about the very light german grey, but I usually add some white to the german grey as later I use oil filters and some techniques that tend to make the original color look darker.....learned the hard way ruining some kits...hehehe...

The 250 is looking great!!!!!!

I thought that might be the reason, Mirko. I am looking forward to see more pictures. Please share pictures of your weathering proces if you have the time.

I have progressed a little more on my Sd.Kfz. 251/22. It takes time due to the many parts and details, but I am enjoying every moment. The 75mm PAK is a small piece of art in itself coming with a range of three different muzzle brakes.
Next is the interior painting before I fix the upper and lower hulls together.

More to follow.....

Looking great Jesper, my Sd.Kfz. 251/22 brother you're a bit further ahead of me, I'm at the road wheel step. Love the working front suspension and the working track links surprised me, what a great kit so far!

Are you going with an early or late version? Still undecided on my end.

And nice work everybody else, even if you aren't building the Dragon Sd.Kfz. 251/22

Thanks for the comments, Taylor and James.

James, I also think this is a very nice kit. very good details. I am going for the late version as I am planning an "end of war" diorama. Looking forward to see some pictures of your build.

More to follow over the weekend

Good evening to all,
some days ago I started with my Dragon M2. I worked on the chassis and building was straight forward. It seems to be a nice kit. Here are some first pics.

Thanks for looking and greetings from Germany

Hello half-track campaigners,

I have been waiting for DML's sdkfz 7 to hit the market but I think maybe I'll start something else just in case. I've got a FAMO and Calibre 35 Bilstein crane that fits the bill. Photos will be posted as soon as I set-up my portable studio lighting.

Best to all,
L Witter
