A-M-E-N!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need more Commonwealth vehicles and not just from the Cottage Industry resin folks. We need injection molded plastic. I buy every non-German figure set that the manufacturers put out and would do the same for soft skinned vehicles.

I also agree with Jim Rae that we need heavier German transport vehicles. MAN and others produced some rather large trucks (lorries).

Hope this thread catches the eyes of some of the "heavy" manufacturers.

GOOD LUCK!

Hi Russ, Filip, Eddie, Steve, Jeff, Jon, Jeff and Giovanni,

Thanks for signing up guys, much appreciated. I think along with the likes of the Bedford Series and the Morris Commercial trucks a couple of small cars would also prove very popular. On the heavy utilites the Humber Box and the Ford WOA1 Saloon would also be great.

Tamioya have the Tilly in 1/48 so I do hope this appears in 1/35 and it would fit with their early war French Tanks and small carrier.

Jeff, link for the Austin doesn't work , but there were minor changes to the military version although I imagine many civilian types were called to the colours too.

I think there are a lot more poeple who would build these if they were available in plastic, as Jon says the cost of a resin kits exclude a lot of modellers and even scratching a Bedford is a serious amount of work and requires resin conversion sets.

Steve, yip there are other possibiities as you say. I'm just plugging for the British Made Trucks because that's my main interest but I'd support any additions to the truck range as captured/liberated vehicles were used by both sides, so lots of scope.

I don't have a lot of info on the Austin but I just looks superb

Here's another one, this time for your Baily Bridge!!

Steve,

Yes, I never understood that either, why certain things are only available in this or that scale. I was thinking of building a plane for a bit iof variety, but 1/35 in British, well forget it. However, I did find this:

Sticking with my British theme

Thanks for the support guys, spread the word around.

Cheers

Al

Hi Guys,

I was doing a bit more searching on the net and around 9500 Austin 8ph Tourers were made for the military during the war, so there were a lot of these around.

Here a coupld of pics

Civilian version

Military Version

This one is the 4 door Saloon

I also came across a useful reference site on the Tilly's which is where the picture of the Austin Military 8hp turned out to belong to. Good info on the basic 4 Utilities

LOL!
Sorry, but I couldn't find even one model on that list that I would buy!
I would LOVE to see a WWI Mark IV done by one of the major manufacturers though!

Hi Karl

Well, it's pretty obvious you have no interest in WW2 British Made Soft Skins then which is fine, every one to their own as they say.

Thanks for posting, I thought there was a MK IV in plastic already, perhaps not:|

Hi Guys,

Well 1408 hits so far. Some very positive and enthaustic responces and one 'not interested' although I don't reallly understand the rational to that one.

Anyway, no comments on the Austin, I have to say it's a cool motor for it's day in fact I wouldn't mind owning one now

Thanks to all who have posted so far but more support needed guys. So if you have looked but not joined the call yet please do so, the more people who express an interest the more likely we are to get someone to take notice.

Here's a couple of pics I took last time I was down in Duxford.

Cheers

Count me it as well, even if I am a Davey come lately to the party.

Along with the Commonwealth softskins listed, allow me to put my 2-bits in for some of the missing US trucks as well. In plastic I would surely buy any of the Mack, Diamond T, Autocar etc... trucks that I simply cannot afford to purchase in resin...

Hi David,

There'splenty of room for both American, German and French vehicles. All softskins are under represented it's just that the British builds in plastic are the most under represented

Thanks for joining in.

I'm just sulking because Alan's found better pictures of the Austins on the net than I came across Another area which needs work is the provision of British and Commonwealth weaponry. As far as I know there are no Vickers Medium or Heavy water-cooled mgs available in polystyrene, nor are there many Vickers Ks. Decent SMLEs are still far outnumbered by Mauser K 98s. Enfield or Webley 38 revolvers? Very few and far between! There are some Boys A/T rifles... Fortunately Dragon have released some sets of British figures, which include weapons, such as SMLEs and a Bren but still, in their recent set of British 8th Army infantry they didn't bother using Gen 2 technology for the figures, equipment or weaponry. So what gives? Once again German equipment and weaponry deserves the latest high-tech treatment, while British and Commonwealth doesn't? Does this mean that those who choose to build British aren't as deserving?

When it comes down to it can anyone list more than a handful of basic British weaponry being manufactured in polystyrene?..thoughts, please

As I am dreaming about what softskins I would like to see in plastic, I would also really like to see an affordable pontoon bridge. And how about a truck with 8 or 9 figures in thet back in transport mode, with duffel bags (really dreaming). If flatbeds, cranes and other maintenance type trucks were released, along with assorted aircraft parts, maybe someone would come out with 1/35 aircraft as well (really really really dreaming). Offering softskin vehicles in plastic would open up so many opportunities for the manufacturers because of where and how they were used.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for joining in the call. Couldn't agree more on the weapons, just one of the many BIG gaps in British/Commonwealth kits. We might get lucky in 2009 with some support weapons, who knows.

I was disappointed with the Bronco offering of 1 weapons spur at £4.75 I think it was, cheaper to buy another set of Tamiya British Infantry., so I did

No viclers, no mortars, anti tank guns or any other type of artillery, the list just goes on and on.

Glad you liked the pics and link for the Austin, it's a real gem of a vehicle and would be so useful as either a civilian or military kit or both . So much un-tapped potential.

Hi Russ,

Yip a truck with drivers would be a start, passengers, tank riders, and heavy recovers vehicles . Look at the paras, Resicast and MB now do quite a few and we have the guys with bikes - do they have anything to land from like gliders, well no, and I too would like some 1/35 British aircraft.

Are there any stores, compo boxes, biscuit tins, burgens and gas mask carriers in plastic , No, is the simple answer. No PIATs, 2in Mtrs, SMLEs and no pistols.

Wouldn't it just.

Thanks for joining in guys and you input it just highlights the difference in not just quanity and choice, but quality.

Hi Guys,

Here's one that migh interest the Axis modellers.

The potential for captrured trucks exists on both side, these just don't have to be British orientated. I was reading a bit of the 3rd Battalion irish Guards history a day or two ago and they engaged a convoy of German trucks and tanks, with support from a couple of 17pdrs. In the German convoy was Fuel Tanker that had been captured the previous day from the Guards Armoured Brigade so there is no limit to possibilitie use.

Here are some of the possibiities that might come from the Bedford Ql series.

That is probably only touching on the wide variety of vehicle types that got produced.

So many possibilities

If you haven't signed up guys NOW would be a good time

You'll never hear me complain about another plastic 1/35th scale soft skin hitting the market.
Some manufactures' may require a little more work than another, but all are welcomed.

Of course if a certain company does this one:

We can all enjoy the bulged tires.
