Guys, I think this can be avoided if:
You never order "Available" items if you need them right away.
Email them about availability of OOS things-- "will you be getting a restock soon?"
If they don't ship your order, ask for a refund. LM is quick about canceling an order. But the refund takes time because it's the banks, not the dealers, who are holding things up. They often add hidden charges to the transaction, too. But LM and Hobbyeasy.com have both been very prompt about things for me.
Banks overall are out-of-control around the globe and pretty much do whatever they want. The interest charges on credit cards here in the States make the Mafia loan sharks envious.

Well, this is weird...I've been ordering from Lucky literally NON-STOP since November of last year through March 22 or so (last order) and have received every single one of the items in about 10 days. I mean, throughout this time I've probably ordered 25 or so items (yeah, crazy) and, as mentioned, every single one arrived in great shape. To give you an example, in March alone I had 3 orders with them (AFV Club leFH18, Lion Roar 210mm Nebelwerfer, and Lion Roar Flak 43) and all of these orders arrived exactly within 2 or 3 days of each other. Not a single delay. I'm really wondering what's going your orders. It's just strange...
Rob
Edit: I've just placed another order so let's see how this one goes....

Ah, the voice of reason at last.
Saying that, I've just placed an order for 2 models (in stock) and Sod's Law says I won't get them for months.

Luckymodels "in Stock" isn't live so that if I order the last new Tamiya Tiger seconds before Tim or someone else it will still show as in stock even though it's not. This is what the problem is I think and it seems to happen a lot with new kits.
They also offer you options when ordering such as "Send only available kits" or "Hold til full order is ready"
(not the exact words maybe)
I ordered a kit about two weeks ago from them and had it inside a week

Ah, the voice of reason at last.
Not reason, but certainly experience.
I recently had three items in back-order, including one from Griffon Model (you guessed it, a component for one of the 1/2 dozen Sd.Kfz.7s in my stash). Their GM re-stock came in and it wasn't part of it. So I asked them when they thought it might be re-stocked and they said they didn't know and promptly ordered a refund on my $$$.
As Pat points out, their website isn't real time stocking.
But the good news is that Hobbyeasy.com likely has the same item for more or less the same price. Their site claims to show only in-stock items, but when I ordered that elusive GM part, THEY were OOS, too. They sent me an email asking if I would wait 2 weeks to see if it comes in.
Like Rob, I've ordered TONS of stuff from Luckymodel. One shipment took a long time, but most of the others came within 2 weeks.

Well, in this case we are learning "after the fact", then with all the run around of when you'll get the refund is when the feathers get ruffled.
Other companies don't work that way or just send you an email saying they are out of stock BEFORE any charges are made. This is where they go wrong.

Thats what I ordered too. The GM uber duber set for the Sdkfz 7 Flak..which was the only GM set they had "IN STOCK" had it on my wish list for over a month..

Tim,
I've had a similar scenario with them before. I was waiting on 2 items, the one came in, but I decided to let it 'ride' until the 2nd item arrived. Big mistake. LM don't put items aside for outstanding orders. They either wait until all items are in stock or they split the order on request of the customer.
LM are great, but the key to dealing with them is to opt for the split order option on check-out, monitor your order constantly, and as soon as items become available instruct them to send the item.
Rudi
p.s. I had to wait a few weeks for that item to come back in. As soon as it did I instructed them to sent it. I eventually cancelled the other item for a credit on my LM account.

I think you're right to bring it up Tim. If Luckymodel paid attention to the feedback then they'd update their site to cope with this recurring problem. Is it possible to have real time stocking? If it is they should change and add a note on their site to highlight the difference between available and in stock. They'd get a lot more business.
They are still my vendor of choice though I find Hobby Easy's site too labourious to navigate.
:[]-- It's similar to Cromwell Models if Gordon answered his emails in a timely fashion instead of waiting til people start sounding off online he'd do more business too. Sorry I got a bit off topic there.

Most certainly is possible to have real time inventory tracking. I have it on my website. Squadron uses it, Sprue Bros. just to name a few. No reason Lucky Model can't use it.

He's not the only one, trust me. Customer service is so bad in the case of another vendor, I've had to resort to PayPal's dispute resolution center, and am contemplating going to the USPS fraud division.

For that case, I have had problems with Great Models some months ago.
I paid for an order on January, they did not ship it and asked me two months later for an additional payment due to shipping charges. Since I have different mail addresses as a customer of them and as a paypal user, I could not make this final payment and since all this happened three months after my initial payment I could not place my claim through Paypal either.
The final result? I paid 80 bucks and received nothing, they cancelled my order because I did not pay for those alleged and theroethical shipping charges, but nevr refund my initial payment.
Since I live in Argentina, its not easy to make further claims, so I decided to assume those U$S as a loss, and make my future shopping in any other place but GMW...
Just to share this with you

Well it seems Luckymodel is again having problems with their inventory, filling orders, and total lack of communication even using their "my Request" system.
Just a reminder to anyone using them to read all the comments others have made. Luckymodel has obviously still not learnt.....

I've made three orders in the last year. Haven't had any complaints. Can't beat their $2 shipping for orders over USD120. Sorry that some others are having issues.

I normally have had great success with LM and have been ordering from them for years and plan to do so again.

I didn't read everything in this thread but I must recommend sprue brothers for secure, timely ordering and shipping. This week I ordered four eduard items and opted for the cheapest shipping (USPS), and I had my stuff 48 hours later!! I have had nothing but good experiences with Sprue Brothers and I've used them a number of times.

Ibuying from them in a regular pace, and never had a problem, as I said years ago in this same thread.
I believe that if anyone reads what others say about LM, will find a lot of satisfied customers and a few guys with bad luck
Just take a look at the age of this thread and the fact that it was buried for more than 6 years...

Old thread ... yes. However, LuckyModel's online store suffers from very archaic web design, making it very cumbersome to navigate through. ... My 2 cents US.
I'm currently awaiting an order, and though I don't consider it late just yet, I received order confirmation one week ago, but there has been no payment transaction applied to my card account. On LuckyModel's site, my order status still reads "Waiting Full Payment to be settled." Since I have not been notified of any issues, I have no idea what the holdup is. This is not my first time ordering from Lucky Model and I have noticed a similar lag in payment status in the past.
Lastly, I do find the many positive comments from satisfied customers above very reassuring.

Hi all,
You may want to consider that the entire China is probably shutting down for at least a week or two so you probably won't hear from LM. It's the biggest holiday season over there - lunar new year for them.
