The chipped effect looks good and gives a nice structure!
Perhaps I also should try this technique on a later build.
But I´m not sure about the look of "rust" for my plans.
greetings...
Soeren

Beautiful gates, the salttechnique really worked well.
Don´t worry about the signs being difficoult to read, it will just draw the viewers attention closer and make sure he notice the detailing on the gates.
Cheers/Jan

I scratched some shop window dummy's and placed them left and right. Also made backdrops with cloth and wood panel.
If anyone has a problem with the curtain on the upper windows, please speak up in the next 12 hours :-) , i can still remove them now, but no more later
I started also to fix the walls of the house
Have a nice weekend
Claude

Geat work on the buildings Claude ! I like the "little touch" of the photo in the window. It catches the eye and draws you in closer to look. And if you ever do a "part 2" book count me as a repeat customer ! Tom

Hi Tom, How are you?
Thanks for the comment.
I hope that in a final setting some of these details will still be visible. With all the buildings still to build, the spectator will probably need a Mega-Zoom lens.
I will put you on the list then for book No. 2
@everyone, there are still a few retailers out there who stock my book and would love to get rid of them, how about helping them ?
Cheers

Thanks I can't wait untill you release your second book. The detail of your work is superb. What do you plan to do with it when your completely done? I hope you are able to display it somewhere, where everbody can see it. I would love to see the whole diplay myself. Well take care and keep up the great work.

Hello guys,
Does anyone remember who's picture in the window it is? A similar picture was hidden in the attic of the castle! It is the Grand duchess of Luxembourg, proudly displayed by the citizen after the liberation, who never could imagine that the germans would be back so soon!
Tom, i am still trying to get the officials of the town of Clervaux in some serious discussions, but the actual mayor is absolutely not inclined to even talk to me. Others are more interested, so we may need to wait until the next elections to get this guy replaced.
It would then be permanently displayed in Clervaux at some do designed location.
Anyway, i need certainly a few more years to finish this.
As for a second book, i need to check the available material to decide if i can do a second one soon or if i need to wait the completion.
Thanks for your support
Claude
Oh, here is the update from today, still luke warm (already posted on my Blog)
Closed the house with the roof, made openings for the dormers, made one out of plasticcard and started copying a half dozen

Claude either way with the book I'll wait for it to come out. I hope as you said with a new mayor, you can get a permanent place to display it. Like a few others have said you should launch you own line of resin cast. As much different things you have had to cast. Could be a good way to finance your project? Have a good weekend and keep up the outstanding work. Yours is always the first post I look for after signing on.

Here is some update from me.
Let me make this short and sweet. I worked 14 hours this weekend on the roof tiling and was able to finish this little part. Some 350 tiles, rounded and adapted one by one.
Cheers

LOL, considering that i would need space in a cargo plane, i probably need to wait for a big sponsor to bring me to the States. But judging from the pictures, the expos are smaller then in Europe , isn't it? Would it be worth it? I would also need to find a time frame where i could at least do 3-4 expos across the country.
To be honest, i believe "Dio Clervaux on World Tour" will for ever be a dream.
Thanks for the comments Michael

Wow, great start with the roof tiles. Again, there are a lot of them.
Also the chipped paint on the window looks great.
On one of my builds I have to add nearly 84 small 3-sided "teeth", in size of around 1 mm (or 1/25th inch). This also would be a hard work for me and my poor skills.
greetings...
Soeren

Thanks Martyn and Soeren,
Just before i am sliping down to page 3 of the dio discussion board, i would like to update you.
I did not rest this days, but i do not want giving you an update on every second row of tiling i finished, so now i did one side (of the upper part) , here is a view of it. If anyone is wondering , this complete 1 side holds some 2000 tiles!
Hey, the cranes just past my house on their way back to the north, the spring is coming !
Cheers

Hello Claude!
Well, how many modellers have you secretely hired to make so many tiles?
I like what you've done on the weathered windows, this house is one of my fav of yours.
This old-fashioned look, you perfectly captured the feeling of these olds shop/factory.
There are still a lot like that in France, when you go to the countryside.
BTW, spring is coming here too.
Cheers,
Alexandre.

Yo Claude,
It can't be beter...what a work on the roofteiles!! 14 hours....a marathon on modelling.
What a detail and realistic look you put into that house. Don't you ever get tired off making the roof teiles?
Well that's not a moment to late!

Yo Claude,

I do, there is more interesting stuff to do as endless repeating of the same.
I am now trying to do a master for the tiles and do copy's with resin for future roofs.
Thank you for your visit Nico.
Jean Bernard and Alexandre, thanks for the comment. I think i started the building to dark again. I am going to tone it done a bit. Glad you like it!

Fantastic. As usual.
That's the first time I post on one of your topics, but I've been lurking and staring for two years now. One could be jaded after so many posts on that behemoth of a diorama, but you still manage to bring the amazement a step higher. Spending 14 hours on the tiles is mind-boggling, of course, and the look of those iron curtains takes the cake.

Hi Guy, How are you, thanks for visiting again.
I think you should do what you like most. The Tankcommander of my Sherman is still sitting with a Wire-arm and of course unpaint since a few months already! That shows my preferences.
Hello Sciappa
I'm glad you made this step forward and came out to say Hello! :-)
I had always wondered who is responsible for this thousand hits on my posts
Remember, the 14 hours was for tiling one lower side, ad to this 10 hours for the other side (routine set in ) and at least two weeks without counting the hours for the upper side.
The result will be nice but i am glad it will soon be history (at least until the next house)
Have a nice week everyone
Claude

Howdy Claude
Phenomenal work as per usual mate. Tiles are are a treat!
The dormers look great and well aged. What are you representing as a roof on these dormers? Do they have gutters or not?
