Hi Bradley,
You are you?
The dormer will get a minimal roof covering as there is really no space for any tiling. The upper ridge has only 8 mm.
I will cover it with lead foil representing metal sheet (1 to 1 modeling basically ) and having a slight overhang. As i want to keep the foil natural i will ad it after painting the rest. With a good heavy wash it should do it.
I have a guy working with me who formerly worked as roof carpenter. So if i am in any doubt i am well advised. I am even using his old school manuels to do things as good as possible.
Greets to Down Under
Claude
PS.: I recently checked again iif it would be good to have a reseller for my book in Australia, but shipping costs for parcels are astronomically high, so either no one would have any margin or the book would need to double on price. So that is regrettably not doable.
How is your sculpting adventure progressing?

Hi Claude. Love the building, and good as it as ... the sliding metal door steals the show. Lovely detail and adds so much to the appearance.

Thomas, Nicolas and Franck , thank you very much for your input! Just finished the back side of the roof after 4 days of tiling. No need of a picture, it looks the same as the other side :-)
Now of to finishing the house with gutters, signs and advertising.
@Tom , the canadian one :-) , thank you very much for your order, just saw it minutes before logging in here. After the first walk in the sun since a long time, this was the second highlight of the day! I am totaly happy the orders ares till coming in, slow but steady.
I will ship on Monday, around 10 days of shipping time should do it. It's not so long. Parcel service takes longer. I wish you already a good read.

Hope you like it so far

Beautiful work! (as always)
The new made roof looks good and has a good overall composition of the colors with the other parts and houses!
greetings...
Soeren
PS: The thing on the wall, which holds electical cables, possibly is named "pole".
Libor (GraveDigger) uses some on his dio "German WWII railway depot dio part I" on page 5.

I almost don't want to look as I'm really hoping for a second book and don't want to spoil the surprises inside!
I find that the most amazing part of this project is that I can recognize real places in your work. It's not just a generic house - it's a model of the actual building that can be identified. That takes it to a level far beyond what I can achieve.
Awesome.

Claude,
This is amazing! I can't wait to order your book! Do you know how much it would be in US?
And also, is your book more about the techniques and a step-by-step breakdown of your work on the castle, or is it less of a reference source? I'll buy it either way!
Thanks for continually posting your work on here for all of us to see. You really are an inspiration and your level of creativity and craftmanship are definitely something to work towards!

Martyn, Soeren, thank you guys
JBA, thanks a lot, i hope i can stay the course. I admit, that roof tiling is getting more and more a test for my patience. Not that i do not want to do it, but it takes to long to make.
Callmehobbes, LOL, thanks, i will try to keep my pictures dark and blurry then to keep some good pics for the book. Regarding the house, , thanks for the praise, but IMO, to use this saying, i consider the house good from far, but far from good.
I made a mistake right in the beginning when a piece of the styro wall broke off and i glued it back on.
This resulted in a bump near the right door who gave me a lot of problems later.
I should have restarted right away and work more exactly. Too much routine made me probably work a bit sloppy also with the windows, so i am not completely satisfied. The look is ok, but the was to get there is not entirely.
@Brandi, thank you very much for your interest, i immediately noticed the new name, so i am glad to find new supporters.
I would say my book is everything you mentionned.
I think instead of retyping my very biased viewpoint again, i would invite you to read the impartial reviews i linked on my website at www.diorama-clervaux.com (or click my banner below)
I have a US reseller (Michael Monroe's http:://www.monroeperdu.com ). Under the menu point "Special purchases" he sells the book for a very good 26 US-Dollars.
He still has some from the initial shipment and they are all signed by me.
Please keep me informed as for an autor, the satisfaction and critic of the customer is very important.
Thanks to all (triple thanks to those few out of the 1500 who viewed my thread since the last pics and who took the time to post)

Claude, it's amazing as always! You are a professional roofer
Your work as inspiring is also bringing me down... I've managed to build few small, simple dioramas and in the same time you're building a real village here...

Ok guys, this chicks will not love me anymore if i don't continue with the build.
I did not update during a month because what i am doing right now isn't exactly exciting stuff , but necessary .
The whole street has to be covered with cobblestones, one Meter of it !
The street , coming from the left side (with 30 cm of road to cover passing next module and coming from Module Clervaux-Village) will pass the row of houses (not fixed yet) and, at the bottom of the picture, head in direction of the bridge (on the next module).
To make the intersection visually a bit more interesting i made a simple circle design with the stones.
Taking a gain my clues from reference pictures, but adapting it to the little space i have, i am doing a little park here, surrounded by a small wall.
The hardest part of the cobble laying is done, only a few days more to finish it.
I am also assembling the material to make a big weeping willow tree i will place in the middle of the park. (if it gets to big i will plant it behind Hotel Central and plant the already finished birch tree in the park.
For the fun of you guys struggling with modelling space, here is the picture of the space i occupy just to select the branches and twigs for the tree.
Those roots are all from beech trees, fallen recently because of a storm.
An update on this one comes soon.
Thanks for looking
Claude
PS. Don't forget my Blog, updates are done regularly
