Hello,

can you tell me wich manufacturer produces the head of the figure on the back seat?

I'm building a Dumvee too, you can see some pictures in the Constructive Feedback forum.

I used the M240 from the AFV club Stryker equipment set for this build, but I'd like to use another one, either as a secondary weapon for the turret or for the front passenger. Does anyone know where I can get some 240s (plastic, resin etc) with the handguards attached? Or if anyone is willing to part with with the 240 from the afv club set? )

I've got the Dragon machine gun set, but those weapons don't have the hand guard and while its not that difficult to build I'd prefer not to have to. (I tend to break my drill bits doing things like this )

In case Im not using the correct terminology, I'm looking for 240s like this:

Thanks for any help guys!

its an M240B, as far as I know only AFV club do a plastic one, and Hobby Fan do a resin one which is included in a couple of their figure sets and their modern US equipment set.

Great work on the humvee by the way!

Thats what I was afraid of. Its a bit strange that such a common weapon isn't represented that well in 1/35th. Well it looks I'll have to add the hand guards to the Dragon offering. I can't really justify buying the AFV club set again just for the M240. Does anyone know if its possible to purchase single sprues from AFV club?

Thanks for the comments on the humvee, I'm quite pleased with it so far, though I still have quite a few items to build/add before this is done. I remember that you built an up armoured m998 with a M240. Was that the Hobby Fan offering? Whats it like?

Oddly enough, there are not many modern weapons that are done well in 1/35th. The M16A4, the MP5 series (no the dragon ones do not represent the correct type), the 240B and even the M249 (do not even get me started on things like the Diemaco C7A1 and C8). Tank is doing some very decent modern weapons, but they may not be available to everyone.

when you have no other option available, try scratchbuild one

the Top part is made of Evergreen 1.5mm C-channel.
I first drawed the lines where the holes need to be on the strip, then some Carefull!! punching with a sharp needle.
then remove the part of the barrel where the handguard needs to be, otherwise it will sit to high.

That is true Ben, very few modern weapons are properly represented. Trumpeter have really filled a huge void with their M16/M4 releases, but I hope they turn their attention to the 249 and 240. If they can produce those with the same level of detail as the others, they'll sell very well. That said Masterclub and Tank both have some very nice M249s but the Tank 240s do not have the handguard(?) Recent evidence suggests their barrel protectors and not handguards.

I guess that I will have to build my own using the 240s that I have. Gijs your 240 is very good, and thanks for the tips about removing the barrel. I think I should be able to make a reasonable version.

If you want the scope from the M240, let me know. i have a few copied from another set. I might have one of the M240's with that shield if you want too.

Anirudh, sorry for hijacking your thread, but i don't want to open a new one for this question.

thanks,

Anirudh, how's you GMV doing by the way, any process on it??

No worries about hijacking the thread, I had intended this to be a thread for everyone to post their builds/question, so hijack away

Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you regarding that particular antenna.
I think the armoured panels are bolted to the doors using existing holes. Other armoured doors simply replace the vehicles existing doors.

I haven't made any progress on the build since I've been at university studying (read wasting time on armorama). I have bought a few additional items for the build and a few items to build "thor". I should be able to start work again in 3 weeks time.

The armor panels are bolted to the doors.

The antennae I am not sure about. I'm curious as well.

I would be grateful for copies of the pictures that you put together in that colage if possible. I have never seen that door armor before and would love to add the pictures to my website.

Thanks,

Brent

Hey Brent

The middle picture in the top row is the same photo that I posted on the previous page with the SEALS and the MK47.

I recognised a couple of the photos off the top of my head so here they are. I'll look at to see if I have any of the others tomorrow for ya.

I don't recognize all of the antennae. I know the small black one is an ancillary antenna for the FBCB2. As for the doors, they're in my CD. Here's a shot of the inside - pretty stock. There's a bolt at the top, but I don't know if that's one of the mounting bolts or not.

That looks great Gijs, got any more photos of it? Which kit does the extended front headlight assembly come from?

If there are any moderators reading can you make this thread into a blog please, so I can post photos of my other build here as well. Thanks

Wow, Gijs, the scratchbuilt pieces look excellent. Are you planning on casting a few for later use or commercial use?

Can you let me know how you built the smoke grenades> I'd love to include some in mine as well

That's it. In fact, you have listed them in the order they need to be turned off. To turn on it's the opposite, or it won't boot up properly.

As for the doors, they look great. Do your references show the grainy texture? It's all over the face of the door, EXCEPT the "ribs." Looking very good.

thankt Robert, finally i got the Cpu (looks like it) scratched, only the antenna is missing , but not for long

Anirudh: im not planning to make any copies of them, since i have no clue about resin ect.

the smoke grenade is a rod of evergreen, Diamater 1.6mm/ long 3.7mm, with a small strip for the handle, easy to make.

some pictures of my status

that Fbcb2 screen was a pain to fit in there

the rear seat is only a placeholder untill, i will get other ones,(Anirudh don't forget me )

probably i will use legends new ODA figure along with it, since this GMV is slightly ODA based

EDIT: where does to M134 Power Cable goes to??

Great work Gijs, this is turning into an excellent build! Don't worry I haven't forgotten about the seats.
Legends ODA figure would go very well with this, as might some of the Evolution Miniatures figures. Have you seen them?

Sorry I don't really know much about the mounting of the M134, guess you'll have to wait for Robert to answer that!
What kind of paint scheme are you going to do?

Keep up the good work

That's a really eclectic looking vehicle. Its a strange mix of items. I can't understand why they'd go the effort of that camouflage scheme and then have a bright red fire extinguisher and skull and crossbones flag?
Still even if someone sees them they do have an M2, M134 and couple of 240/249s to fight back with I guess.

I suggest you go with this scheme, it'll be really unique, as well as being a challenge. Do you have any more photos of it?
