Cheers Rob.

Thanks for the template idea! That 'll help me get the correct shape for the doors. Im still wondering whether I can make them workable or not, depends on how heavy the end up. Anyway, I'll wait for the Aber hinges to decide.
Actually when it comes to hood clamps, I've been looking at using plastic U-channels then shaping them as needed.
I haven't yet decided whether I'll add the dampeners, not sure how much will be visible when the body is glued on to the chassis, but there still separate so I can still add them.

On another note, Im hoping the Tank/Live resin M2 comes out soon since I can use hellfighter from that. Seen the photos yet Rob?

I've seen that Hellfighter and it looks great. It comes with the longer mount that I did not use on my guns, but ultimately it's very usable.

One more question, Rob: The guntruck in your CD has a slightly different configuration to the photos I've seen of Thor. So do you know whether the real vehicle has the snorkel mounted?
And whether the rear seats are in place or not?

Thanks

In theater, the snorkel is often removed as it obstructs the driver's view, especially if it's not needed at the time. (That time can change pretty quickly though - I have a great video of me driving my Tacoma along a river and nearly swamping it, just days after driving the same dry river bed.)

The seats are the same as SF - it's up to the crew. You can see we removed the rear of the seats on some of our vehicles as well. If you look at the interior photos of one of the MARSOC vehicles you'll see the seat back has also been removed from one of the front seats. Stick four corn fed SF guys (and a gunner) in a vehicle and things get tight pretty quickly.

In that case I'll remove the snorkel and leave the normal cap in place. I'd love to see that video. Are you selling them as well?

I'd like some variety when it comes to the interior so I'll have one seat as standard, one with just a frame on the back , and the rear one will just be seat bases, or removed for more stowage space.

Thanks

Excellent paint job Gijs, that is spot on! The camouflage is very well doen as well.
I especially like the Eotech above the M134.
Whats sort of weathering are you planning for it? Heavy/light dust or a muddier finish?

Glad you like "Thor", I'm quite pleased with the turret so far. Since those pics, I've added some handles, bolts, window frames and 2 40mm boxes and Im now working on the seats.

Looking forward to your next update!

What are you building Jean-thomas? Post some photos build as well.

Got another question for you Rob (last one I promise.... actually probably not )
Both Thor and the Marine guntruck in your CD have a second filler cap and recess on the right hand side, just above the rear indicator. What does this lead to? and whats behind it?
I decided to add the snorkel, since it appears that Thor may have it in place in one photo, and it gives me the opportunity to have some water in the diorama.

thanks Anirudh

for the moment i didn't build anything, i will use the M1114 from Bronco and the GMV conversion from Legend

actually i make some searches on the Web, and try to choose wich set up i will select
hard to find close pics of Dumvee/GMV and hard to make an accurate version

i think i will let talk the "artistic licence" on some points , also i have the excellent CDs from Rob

i like the work you made on your turret ! i would make the same one for mine

Weird timing - someone had pointed out that filler cap in another thread yesterday. The only thing I can think of is an oil reservoir cap for the hydraulic dampeners on those newer style shocks. It's a bit of a reach, but it's all I can think of.

hello

if my timetable allow me i will start the build of my GMV !

and actually, with the pics wich i have, i wonder if i can use the excellent MT/R wheels set from Dtoys

for the final set up, i will use the M1114 from Bronco, the Legend conversion lf1212 and i will use the IBIS TEK bumper from legend
of course, the radios set from pro art will be usefull for me, and i think to sculpt a SF crew for my humvee

by the way, i still don't know wich turret i will use (OGPK, GPK, or the other wich i don't have the name)

thanks in advance for your help

to Anirudh: your paintwork look cool, in effect the result seem too green, remind me the english DPM, i think you don"t need to restart your job, just expand the black stripes (not sure if my english is correct)

Wow that sounds like a really ambitious project Jean Thomas, I look forward to seeing your progress,

With regards to the tyres and turret, there are an enormous number of different configurations of GMVs depending on time frame, unit, mission and so on, so it would be a good idea to find a photograph of one you like and base your build on that if you are concerned about the accuracy.
I can't wait to see how the Legends kit fits with the Bronco M1114 and seeing your sculpted crew.

I have changed the camo pattern slightly by adding some more black and brown and giving it a couple of washes to tone down the green. The figures have now been glued in place and that build is more or less finished bar the base.

hi dude ! i'm totaly agree with you !!

as you said, there are various humvee with own modifications

but hard to find closer pics and walk around, it's totaly normal they are special vehicles =), and i think i can apply the artistic licence with model and customize my kit as i would

but not doing anything and anyhow, so i just wonder if they are already seen MTR wheels on GMV, and maybe OGPK turret

i don't know if i'm understandable, my english is basic

Awesome work Gijs, It looks spot on! Are you planning on adding any figures or a base?

I also took a break whilst I was back at university, but since I'm back for Christmas hopefully I can get "thor" finished soon. I'll put some photos up soon

Bumping this old Thread

I got back and settled again from my deployment, and back at the Bench,

Some more work has been done on my GMV.
I added 2 more figures from legend.

The one in the Cargo bed is pointing, the other one is holding the M240 like he's ready to look through the scope of what he sees

what do you guys think, should i change the poses of those figures?

Good to see you back again, Gijs! I like the layout with the two new figures, they work well together! Have fun painting more digital camo though

Unfortunately I have made little to no progress on Thor, but since this thread is active again, I'm hoping to get it finished this summer.

Cheers
