looks awesome.......I would have the semi automatic sniper rifle and a bolt action so you can have a sniper spotter team

Cheers Frank, I think I'll have at least one of the sniper rifles in the back and maybe the second if theres a sensible place to put it.
To anyone who may know: Would it be accurate to paint the crew in Multicam? What modifications do I have to make to them first?
Cheers

almost done,
added an 'Acog' scope and a 'Pec2' to the M240B, also scratched A stretcher, the doors are can still be opened and closed,
only left to do is to get some stowage in there and sculpt a VS-17 signal Panel on the spare tyre.
i'm going with this paint scheme
i like the partially camouflage added on the turret.

Amazing work!
What did you do for the stretcher? I need to scratch an open Blackhawk stretcher for the back of my LAV-III, and I'm a little stumped for it right now.

Im intrigued by the M-60..This photo must be early OIF/OEF because I think all M-60 MG's had been phased out of service by 2005-2006. A civil affairs unit that I did patrols with in 03-04 had an M-60 but it was replaced by an M-240 in June of 04.

What's more interesting is that it appears to be an M60D too.

Don't forgot that they're SF dudes. One of our teams still had MG 42. Not an MG 3, and MG 42. Weapons don't get taken off the books quite as quickly in some units.

it's not that much work, 2 evergreen rods of 1.6mm Ø, and 56mm long
drill out the ends, the stretcher should 15mm wide, cut some strips for that,
for the "feet's" bend some 1.6mm evergreen strip in a square, glue it togheter and add some tissue with whiteglue around it.
hope this will help you at your build.
that M60 is indeed interesting , that photo is taken from the Docu 'Inside Green Berets' when i'm right it was in 2007 around Firebase Cobra Afghanistan,
when i would have an M60 laying around some where i would have added it aswell, but unfortunately i havent

Its coming along really well Gijs, can't wait to see what you do with the paint!
Ok, I've got some questions for you guys:
1. Would a crew carry a dynamic entry ram in the cargo bed?
2. Would a vehicle have a spare tyre strapped to the front bumper? The only photo I have shows it being offloaded from a plane so it may not be a proper combat load.
3. Is a camera something a crew might carry? like the SLR in the Pro Art satelite communicatiosn set?
Updates soon, I promise

1. Most definitely. While not a "hooly tool" per se, it is part of the urban assault kit, along with foldable ladder, Grappling hook, black rope, and the hooly tools themselves.
2. It's been done. It wouldn't be my choice. Anything that obscures the driver's and TC;s vision is not a sensible choice.
3. Indeed. How do you think I got all my pics?
On a serious note, it's used primarily for documentation, especially if what you were documenting suddenly goes off with a bang.

Cheers for the quick answers, Rob. I scratched a dynamic entry ram, as well as some smoke grenades (thanks Gijs!), and Im going to add one of the Pro Art cameras under or on the radio set up.
As promised heres an update. The weathering was done with AK interactive washes, plaster, oils and pigments. The photos have made me realise it looks quite harsh and random, and possibly overdone. What do you guys think?
And the scratched items
Comments appreciated as always!

Hijack away Nick!...
The mount for the minigun is similar to the one included in the legends m134 set. The mount fits into the standard location hole on the turret. Since the M2 is covered by the gun shield I think the minigun is mounted on a separate mount similar to the one included in the Blast OIF weapons ring set (similar to the m249 mount).

No worries Nick, glad I can help. I can't wait to see what your build looks like. (I suggest starting now, since you are happy with having multiple builds at the same time )
I thought about painting the figures, but since UCP is a pain to paint, I'd like to paint them in Multicam. Is this a realistic option, or should I stick with UCP?

i have a photo of how the minigun is mounted on there, give me 2 more days and i'll post it here

your build is comming along nicely, maby if you have an airbrush? you can spray a light dust color layer to tone the effect a little down.
nice job on the smoke's, maby i need to build such a Ram aswell, since i think almost every unit carrys somthing to force an entry
for the figures, i think multicam will work fine, the American SF unit that where stationed next to our base on my deployment also where wearing multicam.
small update on my build, i added some armored plates for the cargo bed area, made with some, GPK armored turret sides, the idea was also from the documentary 'Inside Green Berets',
i realy recommend this docu for anyone who wants to build an SF Humvee
pictures will follow soon

Cheers Gijs, now I just have to work out which colours to use for multicam. should be fun! Thanks for reminding me about the documentary, I forgot I had it. Unfortunately I don't have an airbrush, but I'll use a thin wash to tone down the whole vehicle.
The dimensions for the ram are 3.2mm diameter, 19mm long, with handles made of 0.5mm wire. I turned the length of plastic on a drill to get the shape of the ram end.
Anirudh
ps: I checked with royal mail here and they said the parcel spent the weekend at some depot here, and should be with you in 4-5 days. Sorry for the delay

It's really shaping up. The weathering is up to you. In one 12 hour movement we went from a high snow covered mountain pass, to a dried lake bed, to a mud bog, back to a dust bowl.
I would suggest using lead foil for the spoons on the smokes. They should lie flat against the body. You might even be able to emboss the rib with a toothpick, although that's one detail I have not tried myself yet:

The weathering does seem a bit random at the moment. so I'll try and decide what environment the dumvee is in before I finish.
And I'll change the handles of the smoke grenades so they sit flat, and add the tape as well, but would the rib really be noticeable in this scale?
Did you guys carry any particular colours of smoke grenades? and are the grenades different colours depending on the smoke?
Youre not late Frenchy, I still haven't decided on a place for the wheel. That arrangement doesn't look like it obstructs the crews view. Thanks for the photo!

Maybe you could just glue some thin wire on the spoons to replicate the embossed rib...

Good idea with the wire. I'd use fuze wire. As for the tire, it's not just bad guys you need to worry about. It's little kids running in front of the vehicle yelling "Meester, give me biscuit!" I still don;t like anything that obscures vision, but like I said, it has been done.
Looking at the above photo, I can envision a whole new scenario - you're driving along on a bumpy road (assuming they still have those in Afghanistan) and every little bump causes the inner part of the rim to cut that strap a little more until suddenly - you've got a lot bigger bump to worry about. If you do it, I'd think of a different method. You know what they say about Murphy.

wire seems like it could work, I'll give it a go using the thinnest fuse wire I can find. Also I'll look for a better place to store the spare tyre since the bumper is a poor place.
@Rob: you mentioned in another thread you carried a quickie saw. Was it the same colour as civilian ones or re-sprayed in OD or something?
1 guess as to what Im scratching next!
