With the release of the new MENG Model pick-up truck.. and all the pictures that have been posted on this site of the various Libyan technicals... I was wondering if anyone was interested in starting a Libyan technical campaign?

I'm not proposing to start it myself as I wouldn't know where to start.. and I wouldn't be able to follow up on it. But I was hoping someone here might be interested enough to take the idea and run with it.

I was actually hoping somebody else interested in this idea could run with it and become the campaign leader.. I'm not good at organizing things and such

Anyway, it was suggested to me by one of the members here that a general Technical campaign would be better than limiting it to the Libyan conflict.. and I agree with him.

I hope enough people will show interest in this idea.

This has me interested and it would be a good idea to include technical's from all over the place and from many ages ,,they were called field mods and later became called techincal's which when you look at it are the same
I'd give this a try as my first campaign as the boss ,,gotta start some where i guess ..so if ya want Hisham mate i'll take this on ,,with Gary's help of course

Hakan (17741907)

Hey ya guys ... Hisham for a time frame i was thinking say 6 months ..now thats just a proposal ,,we can go longer if need be ,,any ideas from you guys on what sort of time frame you would like ? open to any suggestions
I was thinking six months because these things are not that time consuming to build ..look how fast those guys build the real thing they are pretty much slap together vehicles after all .

I agree with PHILL. Campaigns that go an entire year tend to be ignored until one or two months are left anyway. (Based on all my experience leading one campaign. )
Keeping it shorter will keep the thread lively too.

The problem may be finding a base to work off of for a technical. Excepting resin kits, the only ones I know of are ICM, Zvevda, and the Meng.

I'm fine with six months.. assuming the others are OK with it.. AND it gets approved! Possibly starting in November? To give people some time if they need to buy any kits or supplies.

As for a base to work with.. the Meng pick-up alone is enough to build at least 4 or 5 different variants.. and for more than one conflict. There's also AFV Club's M35, like a pic posted by Frenchy in the other thread.. so, it's really not much of a problem.

I just hope the campaign does get approved

One more makes us 10... is this enough for it to be approved as a campaign?

Thomas... Phill suggested a time frame of six months.. and I suggested starting in November. If you, or any of the other guys, have any suggestions.. please feel free to make them so we can get this organized when Phill submits the proposal.. or whatever else needs to be done!

Hey Hisham,

This campaign wil be ''refressing''. Its fun to make this pick up vehicle with a big gun on the back. Something different than a tank or armred car

In october we have a meeting from the IPMS. If i can a technical cheap, i wil join.

O, do you have that photo of a technical with two airplane rocketlaunchers that was posted in a other forum. I wil make that one

Regards,

Remco

Hi
I thought i would try and list some possible candidates for technicals in 1/35 plastic.

Light Technicals
Meng hilux technical
Tamiya/academy Mutt
AFV M38 jeep
Italeri/Revell/tamiya landrover
Military wheels UAZ
Trumpeter bj212
Hobby boss landrover

Heavy Technicals
Gaz 66
Ural
M35
Zil157

Resin technicals
Mig various landcruisers
Mig hilux
Mig m325 nun nun
Nimix Pegasso 5t truck
minimanfactory cucv pickup
various landrover

1/32 Plastic that could be used
Various snaptite toyota nissan and datsun pickups and jeeps by monogram revell amt.
Aoshima/fujimi toyota dyna and canter trucks
Some of the tamiya mini 4wd pickups

Possible weapons fits include Recoilless rifles dshkas .50s zpu-1 zu-23 rocket pods and rocket launchers.

Iam sure ive missed some possibilities so feel free to add any.

Ok not all are readily available but do come up on ebay and various other places and some may need some modifications but none are more than simple conversions and in some cases the rougher the finish the better.

Hopefully that ive given a few ideas other than Meng hilux.

regards
Peter
