Any particular reason for the Stg44 in the last pic? I love the maps, never thought about doing that before

The Stg44 is a "place holder." Nothing says German like a STG44. Need to add a sling:
zs 037

Added some German looking gibberish to my signs:
zs 015

Everyone is glued down:
zs 017

I need to put something in this corner.
zs 042
So I am painting up a couple of ammo cans and a jerry can...
zs 041

Almost ready to pull off the masking tape and find out how much of my ground work comes up too.
zs 039

Some minor things to do before it is all done; hit the goggles with Future to gloss them up, nails in my signs etc.

Questions? Ask away..

I need more paint...

Gary,
If you liked the maps you are going to love this. Stained glass windows. Did a GIS and grabbed them, pasted them into Word and printed them on HP Transparancy film. For a future secret project...

Oh good gawd! Thats is just too cool. Ok Shaun, what is GIS, and what type of printer do you use. Im convinced that a printer lends itself to modeling enough to justify looking into getting one.

And just picked up a new HP on sale so now I hopefully can make something close

Shaun: This has been a really great thread, which I've bookmarked for future reference. I look forward to seeing what you do with that stained glass.

Happy Modeling, -zon

Hi Shaun,

The sign is nice, stretched srue for nails, I LOVE IT! Shaun you got me convinced on everything you have shown us. My base turned out great and i got you to thank! Oh, and you also gave me the idea to save roots and the like for trees and underbrush. I pulled up 4 small (about 3' tall) dead trees in the backyard. I cut the roots off and dried them out and now i got some good stuff for future Dios. Some of the roots are perfect for 1/35th scale trees. Thanks man!

Congradulations Shaun! It looks amazing. Thank you for the SBS, it has been fun and informative, and I know it works as advertised. I have learned so much, from Celluclay to Makeing maps and nails. You do another SBS for Bases or dios, IM THERE!!!

I would like to thank everyone that followed along. It really is not that hard. There are several things I would do different with this diorama if I had it to over. Would I take it to an IPMS or AMPS show, probably. Would I tweak some things, definitely.
Again, thank you guys for giving me the motivation to actually finish something and giving me the opportunity to share what I love doing down in the basement.
More pics to follow.
Thanks again everyone,
Shaun

Ok Shaun, Just taped off my base, added some styro pieces (after repairing my hot wire cutter), got the celluclay mixed up, spread out and added some sand. Waiting for it to dry now.
Quick question, I found that the first time I pressed the tracks on the base they stuck quite a bit and pulled up some of the celluclay. Should I wait a bit next time before adding the track marks? Any suggestions?
