I'll probably dig up an Ardennes photo from 1944 to use as my inspiration and copy it.

That will be a task of it's own as there are so many to choose from but it will most certainly be a Sherman tank as the main vehicle. Maybe even a Tank Destroyer?

No, I think I'll grab one of those new Jumbo M4A3E2 Shermans and replicate the famous "First In Bastogne" photo. Yeah, YEAH!! That's the ticket!

I've always wanted to build that tank and now have the opportunity to do so. It just means I need to pull out of the hat some figure painting skills but I have been practising.

Im in on my own campaign at #4, I was busy playing daddy taxi and cooking dinner
Thanks Gary for the approval
@ Nige I was wondering why I never saw a finished photo of that build

Now can someone come up with a ribbon, my computer skills are not up to that I was thinking the same ribbon as lat time except with different colors and a 2 in the lens

Hi Sal,
IŽve just signed up for this one, and my idea is to do something from a black and white foto and keep it that
way in the model. What to do? I do not yet know, but IŽll
find something. Probably yet another StuG III.
Paul.

I subscribed as well. And I found a nice little scene that I should be able to finish.

From my own collection of wartime Pak36 pictures I choose to recreate this little scene.

Ever since I bought this photo I wanted to make it in scale. And this is a nice subject to do it. Plus.. I have to sculpt 3 figures. Now I hope my new airbrush will arrive here quickly so I can actually paint it as well.

Well, I remember my 40th Birthday (well, not really) so if I miss it, Happy Birthday Paul!

And Jon, what an awesome picture!! Will you duplicate the smoke and flame coming out the muzzle brake? I remember way back a modeler replicating a flame throwing Sherman ... the flames looked very real! Let me know if you want to see a few examples. I just had to save them!

I believe the modeler AB'd it over a stretched out cotton ball on a brass rod for support, tucked in the barrel.

It IS so nice.

@ Sal
Glad you like the pic. I was pleased as pie when i bought it. The plan is indeed to make a little base where the gun stands in the water with the three guys exactly as in the picture. Aside from scratching the figures I also have to re do the gun shield as you can see they took it off and put it up against the right wheel.

I like your idea as well. It is a bit of a confusing picture as there are several things going on but it is not exactly clear what. Still a nice picture.

@ Jon
That is ambitious. I have seen a lot of people attempting muzzle flash. some more succesfull then others. I have to say that the examples shown here are quite good. I did experiment with it some time ago with a US soldier firing off a bazooka. Should be interesing what you make of it. I'm looking forward to it.

Just found this one, don't know the date (Probably spring of 44?)
Photobucket

Yup, that's an Elefant in the back, but then again, they served everywhere except Africa. Did some research, might be around Anzio, I saw a date that said January 22nd 1944. Anybody got an idea about this one?

Yup, that's actually where I got my information too. Thanks though
Now I need an Elefant. I'm going to have too many kit's & not enough time. All these campaigns are going to be the death of me
