Hi folk with the Art of the Battlefield Campaign coming to an end soon I figured I would have some additional time to run another campaign. Back in June of 2010, Tim Sloan, callsign pzcreations, ran a campaign called Modeling a Photo. There were 35 people enlisted and from what I can tell from the Gallery 9 people finished to produce some really great builds and receive ribbons.
So my idea hear would be to run Modeling a Photo 2, so to speak. I would keep all of Tim’s rules that can be seen on the campaign here:

http://armorama.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Campaigns&file=index&req=showcontent&id=414

And add that the people that started but didn’t finish Modeling a Photo 1, will be allowed to finish their builds and builds from other campaigns will be allowed to be used. For example if you are building a Panther for the Panther Campaign you can use that Panther in a diorama setting to match your photo.

I was thinking start date would be June 6, 2012 and run for 6 months.
So chime in here and let me know what everyone thinks. Are we ready for Modeling a Photo 2

Is there no interest with this type of campaign Nobody uses actual photos to give them inspiration on what to build or is it that there are too many campaigns and not enough time

Hey, guys! I had fun the last time around, so yeah, the idea is a good one, but this is a busy year for campaigns (at least for me), so I'm hanging back until I get a few more out of the way.
That said, I know I'm going to come across a picture or two that I'm going to HAVE to build, then I'll be clamoring for this campaign.
Also, modeling a photo can be a little daunting as well, since there is less room for interpretation ("fudge factor").
cheers!

Hi Sal,

These days most of my builds tend to be from photos! I like the idea of allowing builds from other campaigns to form the core of a scene - does that also apply to personal builds that aren't for a campaign? I'm thinking that when June rolls around I'm almost certain to be working on yet another model that could be turned into a "photo", but it might not be anything I was doing for a campaign... I'm not suggesting anything "finished" - I assume you'll still want to see some raw plastic at the start?

Either way, I'm game.

Good evening,
I join you, but it would be possible to finish in 2013, it will leave me time to finish all the campaigns

Okay Sal, I'm in!

You supported my Campaign ideas so I will sign up.

Don't know what I'll build yet but I do also wish for it to end in 2013 for my plate is running over.

Hi Guys,
Nice to see some support here, looks like most people would like a 2013 finish so how about a 6 month campaign that starts August or September.

Chime in lets see what the consensus is

I'm in as well even though my campaign participation score over the last few years is not that best.

I own a lot of pictures with the Pak36 as subject and I'd like to model one of them for a while now. Again a great opportunity to do something with that. (I say that every campaign I enlist ) Hope this time goes better

This may be a stupid question, but what about a scene from a newsreel or something? I realize it's a motion picture not an actual picture, but would a sort of freeze frame from a clip work?

I forgot to answer Toms question, and its yes, If you have an unfinished build going on and then what to make it match your photo that would be fine. I really like the idea of doing 1 diorama that has several campaigns in it like I did for the Urban Warfare campaign. I used a KV-1 from the KV-Campaign, 4 Figures that I build for the Winter Worriers Campaign and a GREIF that I threw together for the Knocked Out Campaign for a total of 6 kits and 4 Campaigns

@ Conor Sure this would work but how would u post a freeze frame photo of you movie so that we could see what you were trying to replicate

So would a Late September 2012 start and March 2013 finish work for everyone

Sal: I've got a friend who's got iMovie for his mac, and you can pull freeze frames from movie clips. I'd just have to find and download the newsreel I'm looking for

Sure thing Jon, the main point is to have fun while using up your stuff/stash to make it look like the photo

Ok lets see who we all have ready to commit:
WARDUKWNZ, Phill
Wolfsangel, Charlie
Barkingdiger, Tom
Steph2102, Steph
PantherF, Jeff
FAUST, Robert
Bluestab, Alex
panzerconor, Conor
Fister30, Jon
ltb073, me and a maybe from
windysean, Sean

Ok so thats 10/11 I was thinking 17th September 2012 start, I have a lot of gun club stuff in the beginning of September and running for 6 to 9 months. So that would be March 2013 for 6 months or June 2013 for 9 months. Let me know what you guys would prefer and I will get it typed up and submitted to Gary our great campaign guru.

I'm all for a September start, anything later I might not be able to do because I'm shipping out with the Coast Guard in January/February. But whichever date gets selected is alright

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I wouldn't mind breaking away from the WW2 German thing. Might be fun to dig out some of Dad's Vietnam pictures and see what trouble I can get into. I've a couple other ideas as well.

Hello,

I would join this campaign with a figure sculpting project, from a picture I wanted to depict for ages. September, why not, I hope I won't forget at that time The most critical part for me is that the campaign last long enough to allow me to finish something given my slow path

Best,
Julien
