Status report:

More progress on the upper hull, it needs a lot of detail, many small and important details are still missing (fuel pipes, driver's hatch, etc.). From now on I will complete the lower hull and it's details, so I can glue them together to scratch build rear hull correctly..

Also there is a slight distortion on the upper hull (you can notice it) because of the all this surgery and putties, I have to fix it with using some kind of beam...

Please feel free to write your advices..

Looking very good indeed! The shape of the hull top and fuel cells certainly looks a lot better. Keep up the good work.

Well done!!!

Lots of modeller doesn't pay attention to lower hull details. They say that finally they won't be visible so the job isn't worth the payn...well, I DON'T AGREE AT ALL!!
So i think you've made a great job indeed

Cheers

Outstanding work there!!!

Even old dog kits can be turned into some really nice models with a little elbow grease. I too have to agree with Mauro, if someone is going to put alot of work into super detailing a model, why not take a bit more time and work on the lower hull.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Gary, thanks man, I am trying to improve my skills..

Mauro, my opinion is same as yours: Lower hull is a part of the model!!

I envy your patience. I started working on the T-80 for the What-If campaign and decided to stop reshaping everything after dealing with the turret.

Good luck with your work! Hopefully Tamiya or Trumpeter will be giving us a better T-80 to work with.

Nice work !!! I`ll do exactly the same, with my lower hull. Keep going Cagkan

One more thing. Do you have any idea how your model will be look like in the future?? Because I`m going to create something like that:

Hi Grzegorz,

I want it to show details, I think it will be something like that:

Maybe I will paint it with different camouflage colors, but in my opinion these colors look very "mean"..

Cagkan,
you want some criticism ! Here is mine : why don't you work as a master builder for some major manufacturers ?

I am one who don't pay too much attention to the bottom of the hull. It's more a question of poor amount of documentation about this specific area. When I see what you've done with yours, I'm really impressed.

Cagkan!

Im really curious how you will handel the ERA tiles. Are you going to scratch them too or do you have some on hand of Photo etched parts or resin?

Thumbs up for your parience!

Olivier thank you for your compliment. I'm really an amateur, just trying to improve my modelling skills. I'm happy with this build until now but I hope my future projects will be better, I want to build a Leopard 2T (NG) and a M60 T (Sabra) that don't exist in 1/35 styrene or resin, they need to be convert with scratch build parts..

You are right about lack of documentation, I just have an ancient drawing and couple of reference photos about the bottom of the hull, but Zvezda had a very primitive hull bottom, and I wanted it to be better. It's not %100 accurate but close..

Hi Andreas, I am curious about it too...

Kit's Era tiles are not bad in my humble opinion but it could be better, Voyager has a really good set, scratching is an option too. I did not decide it yet, maybe I will use kit's ERA tiles, we'll see...

Yes, unfortunately that's true...sometime there are not enough references about the hidden sides of our "cute pets"

Here is some of my references for bottom of the hull. Like the turret, this area show many differences in variants, so I'm not exactly sure about mine..

If you use Russian nomenclatures for your internet researches you can usually find lots of references....but Russian tank versions are ALLWAYS a HUGE MESS!

Very interesting pics Cagkan, thanks for sharing
