If you're looking to save yourself some hassle with the ERA blocks then Miniarm do some resin sets. They are very good and in my opinion look just as detailed as the PE options, but without all the hassle. I think by the time you reach that stage you deserve something easy!

It really is a lot of fun building modern Russian armour!!!!

Wow,
You are a tank surgeon.
I am weathering my T-80BV. It is mostly out of the box.
I might get a set of Masterclub tracks. I cannot wait to see your tank painted and weathered.
Thanks for sharing.

Good evening guys,

I couldn't continue my model too much in the last couple of days because of my job. Yesterday I finally found time and I completed the engine grills (it took entire saturday), now I can combine it with the MR Model resin engine cover..

I took photos with the help of my wife..

Scratch builded + Eduard photoetch engine grills:

Wow that is some trally nice work. Looks like alot of the original model won't be left. Engine deck is off to a good start.

Thanks Christopher, I'm using original model as a frame, actually it's not that bad, I am trying to correct inaccuracies only ( unfortunately there are lots of them) ..

Gary, thanks my friend, I hope it will be good in paint job as yours and Christopher's..

Grzegorz, to be honest, your thread here in Armorama inspired me a lot in the first place..

I will build the turret after the hull, I will share photos in a week I think..

Progressing very slowly

I finally combined upper&lower hulls, I added plastic and metal beams between them, glued with two part epoxy to create a strong bond..

The lower hull nearly complete, I will add some small details and suspensions, I begin detailing the upper hull:

Andreas, Andy, Mauro, Gary, thanks guys, I want to see that thread finished some day..

I am curious about something, anyone knows that the Russians give names to their tanks? Individual names to every single tank. I want to give a name and write on to my T-80..

As far as I know no, crews are not allowed to give a nicknames to their tanks or anyway they can't mark them with personal insignas. It may have been some exceptions during the Chechen wars

This is just superb. As Mario said, you are the master!

Regarding vehicle names and graffiti, i'm yet to see such things on anything other than vehicles operating in Chechnya. If you go for a Chechnya vehicle then I have a book showing some quite interesting markings on T-80's

Thanks Rob..

This may be a vehicle from Chechnya, BV's used there as far as I know, I'm still researching this.. If you found something that a T-80 BV used there with a nickname or some kind of insignia, please let me know..

Wow,
I just finished my Zvezda T-80BV. It doesn't look
anything close to your build! I love the re-plummed fuel
lines and the engine deck.

Do you still have the mold for that engine deck? The engine
grill is flawless. I found pictures. When do you paint this
master piece?

Cheers,
John

CC,

I know Russians name their AKs as well. The AK74R is called
the "Sucka" which translates in English "Little B%#&$h".

That is the only name I can think of. I know the Russians name their artillery vehicles like the 2S1 after flowers.
The 2S1 is affectionatly called "The Carnation".

I don't think I helped much. LOL
Cheers,
John

Hi John, thanks for the kind words..

I don't have a mold for this, but in the near future I will make another (better) master for a T-84 Oplot M, it have to be 2-3 mm wider, maybe I will do a resin complete upper hull, like I said, it has to better than this.. For painting, I'm working very slowly as you know, I couldn't find much spare time because of my job in the last week, but I'm planning to finish this one completely in May.. I will begin another model...

Actually you helped for the names, at least you gave me an idea. I have to be sure about name issue before executing it, it has to be realistic and used Russian name, I can't find a clear reference that any BV has a name...

After a long break (thanks to my job), I'm back to my T-80. Here is the last modifications from the front of the hull:
