@ Cagkan: I have not worked on it for a couple of weeks now, had to do some other projects. What you see here on Armorama is what it is. However, i will continue working on it just about now (you encouraged me). You will be the first to know!

PS: I have another Oplot coming in the workbench, more info very soon!

Best regards!

Olivier and Mauro, thanks for your comments..
I want it to be a master too, for a resin model perhaps, I have to take a mold before painting for this, maybe I will..

I couldn't start my turret, because of my job.. But I will start modifications on it this weekend I think..

You should do it! A T-80 kit hasn't scheduled yet and in my opinion it won't be it for a long time. You could earn some money earning a resin kit of it...I know lots of people who bought it if it would be available

try contacting the guys of Celticwers

http://www.celticwerks.net/

http://www.celticwerks.net/contact-us/

They could be intereted in selling a product such this one and they could make the master

cheers

Thanks for the information Mauro, I'm planning to make a mold, and cast a resin myself (altough I'm thinking to contact the celticwerks too). Maybe with this or I will build a new master, but be sure that I will make a resin T-80 in this year. And you will be the first to know that..

Be careful about making any big investments. I know there are at least 3 different T-80B projects in the works for full resin kits. Not sure if any will see the light of day, but they are all based on the accurate (dimensionally) SKIF kit, not the DML one...

Hi everyone,

First of all, sorry for the long break of the project. I was very busy with my job, then as some of you know, diablo 3 released.

Now, I'm back in business, I bought some new aftermarket items (including Voyager's excellent ERA bricks), I will share an update in coming weekend.

Hi Jacques,

Sorry for the late answer, I am planning to do a resin T-80, but I will not use DML/Zvezda based master, this will be a time consuming job. Instead of DML/Zvezda, I'll use a Skif kit and superdetail it as you suggested.

Will be glad to help you I'm going to build T-80 too & your experience will be very useful for me. By the way, I once walked into an engine deck similar to the one in the kit.

Here's the walkaround
http://www.groll.ru/wehr/t-80bw-23.html
Unfortunately I didn't have time to find out what version it was The tank is in the museum of Saratov... Also there's T-80 in Khabarovsk museum. I can make photos if you need

Very interesting engine deck (beside the hatches look at the seam lines), I've never seen a BV engine deck like this before, but the photos indicates that this is a BV, ERA bricks on the skirts, maybe an early variant. but a great reference..

All of your help will be great my friend, you are doing a great help to me and the other Russian armor addicts here (Hi Mauro )..

Be careful, there are a LOT of T-80 "experiments" that became museum pieces.

There were at least 3 attempts by Kharkov to "sell" a diesel powered T-80 to the Kremlin. Who knows how many variants Leningrad made while developing differing propulsion systems and schemes...

Hi Jacques,

I agree with you, this must be some kind of prototype/experiment (maybe with a diesel engine), look like a BV but with a few differences. Yet they are very interesting hatches..

It not T-80 BV, and T-80 RVD. Practically it T-80 BV only with the diesel engine. Modernization of the Kharkov plant which was issued a small series.

Here one more T-80 RVD, only later series, with the engine as at T-80UD.

Thanks for the info Anatolii. So it is a diesel engined BV as Jacques mentioned. I really love Russian armor, everyday I learn new things about them..

These RVD's are ever used anywhere? Exactly how many of them, do you know that? I'm just curious..
