I completed the weathering on the shipping container today. Still needs dust but i will save that till its fixed to the diorama base.
Ive put together a step by step on my blog to show how it was done.

Nice.
I have a few ideas involving Bi-cons and ordinary 20' containers, but I think the price for the resin type containers (AA 35£, Mini-man 36£) are to expensive.
How did you make the sides?

Well,
I have been following this post from the start and I have loved every update. As a exp'ed fork lift driver I've spent many hot afternoons loading/unloading containers and I couldn't tell if that was real or model, so that got me thinking.....
Via my smartphone I got this thread up on my phone and showed my boss telling him this container was in the yard and needed his attention, what followed was be rolling on the floor laughing until a unhappy boss returned. Once he calmed down he agreed that it was a challenge to know if it was real or model, cracking job!

Mathew, what an amazing modeling effort. Your shipping container, especially the doors and latches looks exactly like the one we use for storage at work.
Like everyone else, I'm just in awe of your painting, and weathering.
Looking forward to more updates.

This diorama gets better with every part you are adding.
Simply marvelous, your eye for details and weathering of every single element...
There's only one thing I don't really like about this scenery:
The small rocks around the concrete - they seem much to smooth and uniform. Did you have a real life example for that kind of soil structure?
best regards
Thomas

Nice. I can't wait to see the thing that would occupy the central spot of the dio...

Matt: A really great diorama you've got going on here. Really nice and I look forward to seeing more. Are you going to offer the container for sale? If so, will it be chopped like in the dio or a complete container?

HECK anybody can do what you are doing! There is absolutely nothing special that I can see!! So you are doing a little weathering so what, I can do that with my eyes closed.
As a matter of fact I have done something better than what you are doing, but I haven't yet had time to get the pics developed...
No really love what you are doing!! It is a great inspiration to see someone with your talent... a bit envious actually...
Keep it up please!!

Your finished container is simply amazing! Your rust and paint chipping looks so convincing it's really hard to tell I'm looking at a scratch build replica.
Diorama is starting to come together really well. Looking forward to your next update.

A bit more done today. I have weathered the cabin area as well as adding Archer transfers for the gauges.
