if you allow it
Paul

Huh, what? Allow it? Heck yeah, I'll allow it! I got 3 guys bustin' my chops so this is for fun... right?

What else you guys want? Two ribbons upon completion? Dinner for-two coupons? Free six-pack o' beer? A pint of my blood?

What time line do you guys want and what works for most? I think 6 months is best for most of you are speed demon-building 2 kits in one campaign mothers, I tell ya!

So, looks like we almost have enough... in all the excitement I forgot how to count. A 6 month time line? How about we get in started in November for a nice, short winter-time Campaign?

Oh, and any kit that says JEEP on the front. Not staff car, or field car... you know what I mean.

Do we feel the love now?

Can we really get these: Dinner for-two coupons? Free six-pack o' beer? A pint of my blood?

I will go with any kit that looks like a JEEP, smells like a JEEP, and goes together like a JEEP.

I'm in. Either the M151A2 with trailer (1/35 Tamiya) or the 1/72 DML Willys JEEP I have coming from Sprue Brothers. Or both. Not like they're big kits or anything.

I got the 1/72 JEEP in the same kit as my 1/72 M4A3(76) for the tank transporter campaign if that ever takes off

Okay, blame it on Bob.

We shall call it the Any kit that looks like a JEEP, smells like a JEEP, and goes together like a JEEP Campaign

Therefore, if it's RUSSIAN, JAPANESE or good ole AMERICAN and if it's civilian or a wartime vehicle and it's a JEEP, not a staff car and such, it's legal.

Otay?

So that makes what 12, 13 so far? (not counting Gary K) So we got a Campaign to submit for Nov... and a 6 month run?

(we'll need a new thread for this one for sure)

I only meant to say if it was produced in the USA for military purposes? and then smells, runs, looks, and goes together like a JEEP then it is a campaign.

But hey! I am only a grunt. I will build anything so you powers that be can have all of the fun desiding what does or does not go for the JEEP description.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Besides, this thread is too confusing for the unsuspecting, so the new title is needed too. Right Gary K?

Back in the late '70s a neighbour in NY got his hands on a genuine wartime Jeep still in its shipping crate. Now THAT would be the ideal kit!

Can I choose the brand of beer in the six-pack? Over in the Car Dealership Campaign I was only offering a ribbon...

As my model club has just voted on 6x4" dioramas for the coming year's build theme, I may have to knock out a few Jeeps for this one.

I might be in. don't know yet depends on what I have going on.

an interesting Jeep story.

I lived about 25 miles from Fort Chaffee in Arkansans when I was a kid, back in the early 80's it was still a major training base.

When they started upgrading to humvees I think they sold off a lot of old vehicles everyone around just called em jeeps but they were post war so i'm fairly sure they were Mutts or some other version.

Anyways They were selling em off as scrap metal, and a garage owner in my hometown, bought 50 of them as scrap metal, got quite the deal he thought, when he went to pick them up it turned out the motor pool had orders to make them unusable by cutting them in half.

It became his long term project, as he could he made new frames for em.. repaired em best he could and sold them, and the ones on the waiting pile became replacement parts for the ones he had fixed up and sold.

Hi Jeff,

I will be joining this campaign. I don’t have one in my stash but ordered yesterday after this campaign thread. Today the thread came alive with so much enthusiasm
Count me in… Lucky Model.com usually ships ASAP. I will be ready by the time we kick start I hope…
In India, We had both Willy Jeeps as well as British ones. One Indian company Mahindra, still produces them in various avatars… Do a google image search "Mahindra + Jeep"

Have a Great Day

Paul;

Remember our motto:

Any kit that looks like a JEEP, smells like a JEEP, and goes together like a JEEP

The modeling company decided to put their spin on the misnomer and called it that.

It's still a JEEP to most of us, so it works for me.

count me in for sure!!!!

If any of you need some inspriation, check out the Jeep series Ive been doing in SMMI over the last 12 months or so...

If anybody needs ideas, Ill be happy to help. Ive got a lot of references for photos...or a quick google search will bring you a world of ideas.

Also, about that Bantam.... technicaly the Bantam is a jeep, as it was one of the origional contenders for the Army contract. Elements from that, Ford, and Overland/Willys were combined to make what we all know as the Willys MB or Ford GPW.

also dont forget, "jeep" also includes the M38 series, and CJ series of vehicles. Ford MUTT were the replacement, not a true "jeep", but still called a "jeep" Also the export M606 (which that Finemolds kit could be used to do a conversion) is also a Willys product. The Hotchkiss M201 is a licence built jeep, so technically still a jeep.
Dont forget the GPA also!

anyway, im all in! now....what to do.....

Hey, if 1/24 scale is allowed then I am absolutely in on this one. I think I can scare up a jeep model (or several dozen) and maybe even some accessories to go with it.

Of course, as it's probably what I will enter too.

That is if we hear from Gary?
