Welcome to the JEEP campaign Gil, I think that Jeff is right your idea sounds interesting. How is the SAPPORO? does it still taste like formaldihyde? . Any way thanks for your time on the rock.

I guess I have a slight advantage being 13 hours ahead of EST! I get a slight head start....well timeline wise anyway, I still have to gather all my materials...but I have the kit at least!

I have a work meeting on the night of the 1st, so I thought I'd go ahead and post a photo of what I'll be working with. I may add some PE and/or some extra stowage bits as I start working. I've been planning this small vignette-ish project for my grandfather for quite a while, but I originally planned to use a Citroen instead of a Jeep. He commandeered a Citroen not long after he landed in France, but he really prefers reminiscing about his time in England typing paperwork and driving a Jeep (for obvious reasons).
I haven't finished a model in almost a year, so hopefully this campaign will get me back in the groove.

A former employer used to love SAPPORO beer. I could never enjoy the stuff but did try a dry beer in Hawaii that was a Japanese beer that was pretty tasty.

@ SSgt: enjoy the extra time, but in reality there is no difference. Will be watching your build
@ Jeff: when I tried that stuff it burned my eyes so no more.
@ Michael: nice to see you again, that is a nice set of goodies that you have there.

hello,
I'm planning to build an "Owner Type Jeep" aka stainless jeep as commonly found in the streets of manila.
http://orange3dplastic.blogspot.sg/2009/02/stainless-jeep-beginnings.html
http://aboutph.com/2011/04/owner/
I've been meaning to build this for the longest time, now's a good time as any.
Does it qualify?
Also, what's the process to sign up for the campaign (it's my first campaign).
cheers,
Sonny

I'll be posting my initial kit pics today during lunch, seeing as it's the 1st for me here in Japan! Looking forward to seeing everyone's builds and learning some tips and tricks along the way!

Well, I would have posted pictures during lunch, but instead I went out and got an airbrush setup....I couldn't help myself. Rattle cans lay paint too thick, and brush work with Tamiya Acrylics is just WAY too time consuming, and plus, I feel wrong not painting wirh an airbrush!

Hi all,
nice to here some of you have kicked off already. I'll start
next week as I'm on holiday in the UK at the moment.
I've just heard from our New Yorker Sal (lbt073), he's ok the only damage is a busted fence where his neighbours tree fell on it, and he's out of power. Here's his quote "I'll be starting the jeep build today, by candle light LOL"
keep it on guys.

Thanks Bob
I have started my build but can't post any photos this is a quick 1 as there are only 3 small spruces of parts. But I had linemen in the backyard today so hopefully we will be getting power back soon

hello,
BOB, give your engine a good steak, gain strength.
SAL, I hope that everything is in order. I'm looking forward to see your progress.
Here's a little update.
Despite everything I've read negative about this kit, I find it very well.
Good Sunday.steph

Howdy Y'all
I started construction today. I decided to rob an old Hasegawa 1/72 Jeep for its wheels. I couldn't see cutting the kit wheels from their resin blocks without ruining them. Next step-priming.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Alright, gonna start this build. As previously mentioned, I'll be building me one of these:
Known as the owner type jeep or stainless jeep, it's the other jeep that still commonly runs the streets of Manila and in other parts of the Philippines.
I'll be doing it in 1/72 scale and using the academy jeep as the basis:
I'm also using the O3D Miniatures Academy Jeep Photo-etch upgrade set to replace the front grilles and improve some other details. Also seen in the photo is a Hongwell toys Cararama diecast Honda Civic in 1/72 scale, I'm making resin casts of the wheels and possibly using the steering and front seats.
If all goes according to plan, I'll be placing it in a small vignette.

Bit the bullet and ordered a Tamiya jeep since it's November and the jeep I have on pre-order hasn't been released yet... if it shows up before the end of the campaign I'll see if I can do a second. I should be started on mine this weekend with luck.
