John jkb_sprint - Thanks, I'll finish them soon

Paul - The SLAPC and BUBLINA are both done as the build goes but I still need to prime and paint and weather. So they will get done soon after this coming weekend and can be seen in the BLOG
https://archive.kitmaker.net/forums/219323&page=1

My completed model for this campaign will be the FAVORIT Czech Driver Training Tank only. Thank you for the deadline extension and the gallery link and a fun Campaign build to participate in

Bob - the T-54 is there!

Rob - haha, can't wait to see the muddy grime

Chris - fine work on the Enigma !

The FAVORIT is what is refered to in model car lingo as a Curb Side. Meaning no interior or under side detail

I didn't even putty the gap but reinforced it from the inside with the sprue from it's own kit

Done and I'll try to post a few ion the gallery as soon as I can figure out how

I know how to post into my own photos gallery area but not sure about the campaign gallery…

KoSprueOne,
Once you find the gallery it's just like posting to your own.

Got some dried mud on the white blocks are glued to masking tape to cover the mounting area for the mine roller. I also continued working on the rollers, the length suggested in the instructions is way too long I cut them all in half.

Cheers Rob.

I got a coat of paint on the mine rollers and then discovered I forgot to replace a couple of nuts and bolts I had cut off will have to fix that.

Cheers Rob.

For some reason I'm not getting my subscribed e-mails to this thread again, anyone here get the same issue? It's happened twice here and on my own blog!
And no they are not in my junk folder before you ask!

Anyway, put the 'finishing' touches to my Rebel T-55 over the weekend so that I could finish 'on time'.
This is no small feat as this is the first model I've finished in over 3 years and probably only the 2nd since around 2009. Yes that's right, a big deal for me and so thank you very much to all and everyone who posted or commented here and on my blog as its made a massive difference to my usual loss of enthusiasm soon after I get the paint out!

Saying that its probably not 'officially' finished as I'd like to get it on a simple base and finish the figure but for the purposes of the campaign I think I can draw the line. So here she is, enjoy:

Also a big shout-out to all the other builders in this campaign, I've loved watching them all progress and have seen some great tanks get made. Will be a pleasure building with you again.

That said I may be cropping up on the Churchill campaign soon as I've enjoyed this one so much!

Ok lads just over a day to go. I see some almost finished builds
out there, that may need an extra day or two to get finished. If John Nito74 has nothing against it, I would like to give you until Friday to get done alright?

James cool finish there, very nicely done especially the graffiti. I hope to see you on the Churchill campaign, imagine a Churchill with graffiti

KoSprueOne you have done well there, there's not a lot of people around who would tackle three kits at the same time and get that far. Well done, and the others I hope to see on your blog.

Rob thanks for jumping in there with the gallery link. Please use the little extra time to get a nice finish there, it would be a shame to rush things and spoil something.

Thanks for the extension to Friday. Life has intruded on my build time. My mother had heart surgery, she's doing well. Heres how things stand so far.

john as to the color of the base coat, I mixed Humbrol Kahki drab and light gray 60/40. I was very happy with the color. I gave it a gloss coat a few hours ago and will get the decals on tonight. Hopefully will have the crew done but if not the tank will go it alone.

I got the thing painted and was going to paint tracks tonight and start weathering but I was out of CO2 and my wife has a moratorium on running the air compressor in the house.
Tomorrow evening should see me with a painted tank, if not weathered so an extension to Friday would be phenominal.

James, that is superb but I've got you beat
If I finish mine it will be something like 10 years in the making, and probably my second completed build in that time too.
Getting back into a hobby and playing catch up is fun

Thank you gents!

Really appreciate the kind words.

Bob, several layers of pigments thinned with white spirit did the dirty parts and then a combination of AK's fuel and oil stains combined with black oil washes did the oily/greasy parts.
Nice work on your T-54, those old trumpy kits aren't easy, I can speak from experience!

Funny how the state of the art T-62 kits are all trumpeter yet their old ones are so far behind, fair play to the company for stepping their game up over the last few years.

Barry, good luck mate, lets hope we see it finished!

Thanks again!

James

@James: thanks for the kudos. I used the following filters and washes and was lucky in its outcome. I used Windsor & Newton Oil Colours.

1. White with odorless mineral spirits to soften the paint.
2. Raw Umber for the second filter.
3. Raw Umber (2nd day for pin wash)
4. Raw Sienna (3rd. day for rust)

I did find by accident that mineral spirits once dry will give a White/Dusty look by itself.

Hope to see your painted then finished KV Barry, I hand brush some of my armor since they will be weathered and I just did not want to drag out the airbrush, clean it then put it up again.

NOW! to find some deserving kids to give these tanks to since building is my enjoyment and there is not enough room to keep these dinosaurs.

Paul, me Mum is doing fine, in rehab and should finish her recovery at home.
Had a glich tonight the clear flat wasn't, i guess it was to old. So a second coat was in order. The barrel stripe came out very well.
Gentlemen the tanks look great. there was some real inovation in paint schemes. I guess the subject really lent itself to the amazing variety. Well done.

It appears the campaign is no longer visible in the campaigns section but it's still the 22nd here so here is my entry!...

Not all that pleased with it to be honest, very fiddly work with all those ERA blocks and indy links (first time trying those..) and with life requiring more of my free time these last few months I felt I was rushing bits and pieces (messed up the tracks more times than I could count!). But enough excuses, it's just a good reason to attack it with some weathering products later down the line. Hide those mistakes...

That aside it was a VERY enjoyable campaign to watch, seeing everyone's work has been inspirational - I am planning many T-55/62 variants in the future.

Enough rambling...Pics:

I ran out of paint in the end too! So a keen eye would probably spot some areas that need some more...Okay okay..Stop looking!

Thanks for the campaign Paul, and thanks to everyone else for showing their work!

James awesome job. It looks great in every single detail!

Bob nice work.

Paul sorry for finishing at the last minute. Good or bad here it is. I know the turret hatches are not so good, but i've done a lot of scratch building and worked with so many PE for the first time. I enjoyed it and learned quite a lot in the process. Cool campaign!
