One thing I'm trying to figure out is which countries have the T-80U in service? Republic of Korea, Cyprus, Russia, Ukraine all had them. AZERBAIJAN, Belarus, and Yemen have been listed as getting -U's as well on the net but I've not seen anything definitive.

Korea, Russia and Cyprus are the only operators of the U. Ukraine salvaged theirs, Belorus never had the U, they sold remaining stock of T-80BV to Yemen in 2011.

I've seen several countries cited as operators of the T-80, according to various online sources, but it's hard to know which are credible, also, pics are few and far between. I found one of a Yemeni T-80, but it wasn't very good.

Hobbyeasy billed my card and indicates shipping along with my Meng T-90. I'm surprised we haven't seen any reviews yet.

Xact scale T-80U review coming soon.

Users of the T-80U are ONLY, as stated: Russia, South Korea, and Cyprus.

Ukraine only had T-80UD, no T-80U. Pakistani T-84 are reworked/rebuild Ukrainian T-80UD. Considering the falling out between the Ukraine and Russia about the T-80 in particular, suggesting that one country uses the others tank could get you shot in some places. Russians DO NOT use T-80UD either...they scrapped the ones they had both as part of treaty fulfillment AND to stick it to Ukraine.

China evaluated the T-80U at some point, with as many as 4 being shipped to China. Not sure if they stayed or were shipped back to Russia.

US has at least 4 T-80UD. While there are rumors of a T-80U, I doubt it when they can just examine South Korea's.

UK had either a T-80U or T-80UD, not sure.

That is about it.

Hopefully, Meng's kit will address these issues. Waiting for the verdict, before I place my order.

No - people are confusing T-80 and T-90 threads...

Just got my copy of the kit yesterday. Looking it over now. Will be doing a review for Armorama very quickly.

First impression: it has a LOT of potential and it is FAR better than any kit before it.

Got mine today from Hobbyeasy
First impressions:
Its a hell of a kit! Not for beginners, for sure, but one of the nicest I've seen recently.
Almost no flash at all, very nicely rendered details, the turret shape looks awsome, and so on. The only thing I don't like that much are the rubber tracks, but I'll see later...

I was one of the bigger complainers about the turret roof add-on armor thingy. I must admit with the model in my hands that its not as noticeable as it seemed in the published pics. I may sand them a bit, but I believe that they will look OK as they are molded.
Maybe some people here with more knowledge tan me about the T-80 can say the opposite or confirm my opinión...

Anyway, a great kit, with lots of very well defined details. Instructions may have been a bit more user friendly or clear, mainly for installing turret roof ERA blocks and stuff, but with good references you'll be able to go on without too much difficulty.
My kudos to Xact for a great first kit!!!! I love it!

I got mine two weeks ago and the plates don't look that bad, esp after seeing these photos:
