Just heard something on the news about using a bearcat, so there you go. I would be intereated in a group build (given the guidelines state that the subject must be tasteful). I don't the timing is any more offense than the discussion on the technicals bien used in Lybia.

Not sure what the crying is about, but anyways, as has been said its not an MRAP class of vehicle. It is a purpose built SWAT truck built by Lenco in MA. The smaller ones are the Bearcat, and the larger MaxxPro looking ones re the Bear models. I seem to recall they are based on Ford F250 series truck chassis for the Bearcat. They are completely customizable by the user end a built to suite the individual agency purchasing it. They tend to run roughly around $300,000.00 for a moderately equipped vehicle. They are very common in SWAT units all over the country.

According to Wikipedia (yeah, I know....):

The Bearcat is based on a Ford F-550 Super Duty Chassis with two available engines, (The V10 Triton Gasoline and the 6.7L Turbo Diesel), six-speed automatic transmission commercial truck chassis.

I do like the idea of something "tasteful" that gives more insight into the event going on today.

I believe Dragon has a set of SWAT personelle. However, most of the ones, in Boston appear to be wearing military style uniforms Perhaps a scene of the vehicle pulling up to a corner? I'm trying to keep the suspects out of the scene, but they seem integral. After all, we are wanting to build a memorial.

Some of the LiveResin figures might be suitable. I believe there are some outfitted with elbow and kneepads.

Dragon had sets of NYPD and L.A. SWAT teams, in adiition to the Hong Kong Anti-Terrorist Unit. Don't know if they're OOP.

I have the Dragon LAPD SWAT set and it is dated. I was planning to use some of the LiveResin figures along with maybe the one by Minisoldiers. Some the figures from Legends(?) could be used too I think. There has also been mention of EOD "robots" which I think AFV Club puts out.

I think we should formulate a plan, first. What are we building, exactly? This will help to keep down major, uneccesary conversions and purchases.

I am thinking of a dio, but not necesarily using a vehicle; I think that should be an option.

Just throwing this out there, but most of the military there that I saw were MPs. Live resin might have a kit? Only problems I could see is the "Military Police" lettering on the vests.

I'd like to do a little vignette of these guys on the shed:

Saw this on Twitter this morning.
It strikes me as a bit too soon though. Your thoughts?

Personally, I don't think its different than people deciding to do an Abrams tank back in April of 2003 or something similar. I am sure someone would say it's too soon, but again, personally I build for me, not for others. If I want to make something, I make it. You are modeling what you see, not making some sort of political statement

I can take care of the vehicle. This, for me, is what spawned the idea of a group build. We could have guys that do figures work on those and guys that work on vehicles tackle the Bear.

This is totally crazy, this is a model site. If people want to be pc get off this site and go rite to msnbc. Most folks on here are SOLDIERS and have seen worse than what happen this week. But to say it is inappropriate to put that pic up is crazy.

No hard feelings here Mike. We are of like mind interested in the truck, the history, and honoring those that are out there protecting us. We are all united with those of Boston now. I look forward to seeing what could come of a group build based on the excellent talent I have seen from all on this forum. I was looking again at that Trumpeter "PMC in Iraq 2005 VIP Security guards" figure kit. The VIP guy does not have a suit jacket on, but at least a tie. Perhaps some cleaver creative sratch work to make a lawyer? I don't know yet
