Photo today of Boston SWAT MRAP. What is "LENCO" on the grill?

Their website says Lenco Industries is in Pittsfield, Mass. This one looks like the "Bearcat" model. More photos on this link...

Not being into modern vehcles I wanted to know as well, about these vehicles as I have wanted to do a generic SWAT scene myself, but didn;t want to ask so as not to offend.

Why does he always write in capitals? It seems as if he was screaming...
Anyway, that vehicle looks really menacing.

I don't think this is inappropriate at all. Quite the contrary.
The perps pic is plastered all over the internet...why limit it here?

Just out of curiosity, how is this inappropriate, Mike? The original poster is asking about the vehicle used during the Boston manhunt. Nothing wrong with that, I believe. As Steven has very astutely pointed, the timing is very bad. But so what?
Please enlighten us.
PS: Mike, you might want to check your spelling in your posting.

Back to the MRAP. I want to know, as well. I thought of converting an armored truck, but the bonnet and grill look more like an MRAP. Two different scales. I would recommend converting the Bronco Buffalo. This may be something I have on my bench. Have to finish a few kits, though.

This is becoming a political debate and THAT is inappropriate.

I would really like more information on the truck.

I wanted to clarify that the perp photo was part of the AP story photo that I grabbed from. I do apologize for the timing as I do not intend any harm and have only sympathy for the victims and their families. Just interested in the truck as it was new to me. I am not familiar with Lenco Industries. From a technical stand point, they claim that it will do 85 mph on the highway. Wonder how it corners with that much weight (the CG must be high?) at that speed? Also from the photo at the start...Is that a guy in a business suit hanging towards the rear? A lawyer perhaps? A lawyer is the most dangerous item I could think of to add to an MRAP

This whole thing is only an hours drive away from me, and honestly I was wondering the same thing about the vehicles. Would be a cool thing to make, maybe not for fun but as a testament to what's happened.
And in case anyone didn't already know, news says the second bomber is surrounded in a boat in a backyard in Watertown
Been quite a week eh?

Perhaps we could get a group build going, as a testament. I think with pooled talent, we could pull it off.

Interesting idea for a group build. In my opinion, part of this hobby is to learn history, share some technical nuggets, and honor those who serve. I am all for continuing the conversation

Not sure what the crying is about, but anyways, as has been said its not an MRAP class of vehicle. It is a purpose built SWAT truck built by Lenco in MA. The smaller ones are the Bearcat, and the larger MaxxPro looking ones re the Bear models. I seem to recall they are based on Ford F250 series truck chassis for the Bearcat. They are completely customizable by the user end a built to suite the individual agency purchasing it. They tend to run roughly around $300,000.00 for a moderately equipped vehicle. They are very common in SWAT units all over the country.
