My KV-122 showed up today and on the side of the box it shows it has an aluminum barrel and some PE too!
Looks like a good kit!
It will also serve double for me as I have a 1/16 Heng Long KV-1, a JUWA KV-85 turret/conversion kit and some Tamiya electronics to build the KV-122 in 1/16 scale. Just need to have a barrel turned or wait until Tamiya releases theirs for the JS-2.

Oh no, it's just when the Tamiya JS-2 was announced in 1/16 I started saving for it until some other ideas go it the way, then during a search I found the KV-122 which I thought would be easier to build (since I already had the donor tank) and less expensive.
I can't wait to see them side-by-side.

If I didn't have so much to build right now I would enter my KV-122 for the big guns Campaign and then get something else!
I'm just really looking forward to this kit.
Oh well, maybe it's best to wait.

I'm looking at a second Trumpeter kit... the IS3. I think the two will look good side-by-side.

I picked up a Trumpeter IS-3M at a fair price!
So... decisions, decisions! Or maybe both? The IS-3 only has 3 sprues!

Jeff, I built that IS-3 years ago.
I can't find any photos of it.. sorry.
I remember it was an easy kit to build, 2 options, Russian green & egyptian version.
Here's a review here .
Now that you got the IS bug... there's a great IS-2 from Tamyia ...

Nope, already have an IS-2 so now it's complete. I didn't say it was new just new to me and at 19 bucks I had to have it.
Tamiya is close to 50 bucks and the AURORA I have is too small.
I do have an IS-2 in a Zvezda that again, I got for a great price. So in 1/35th they will look great side-by-side.

@Jeff
The Zvezda turns into a nice kit.
The tracks are poor quality..
@Zare
Nice Kit.. I'll be watching this one closely since I've only did a Skif T-64 and have been drooling over those new Trumpeter's ..

Okay, I couldn't help but to do a little You Tube searching this morning and found an IS-3/JS-3 video!

The kit I picked up is that of the rebuild suffix "M" but I will eliminate as many of those features as possible to the '45 version. Looking through the kit it may just be my main build and I am looking for some 'better' tracks now.

I've been building alot of Trumpy kits of late...got a few going in campaigns at the moment as well. For this one, I think I'm going the nostalgic route and am going to build one of their KVs....their KV-1 m1942 with light cast turret to be exact. I've built a couple of their KVs before and it's a fun build.

I am in, it will be a ship 1/350th either HMS Kent with WEM etch or if I am feeling really ambitious HMS Dreadnought with Pontos models upgrade.

I just enlisted as well, a lot of Trumpeter kits have been peeking out of their storage area at me lately. I think I'll probably build one of the 1/35 KV's.
