Yeah, I replaced the kits barrel and brake with an ABER piece. It's huge and fits right in!
Still going to go back to it and replace the stock tracks. It really needs it and the sag is what makes this vehicle look real.
You're off to a great start! Hope to get back to my kit soon!

Since it appears it's not too late to join in, I'll be doing so once the kit shows up at my local shop. I'll post a start photo then. Looking forward to it - good motivation to actually build something

Hi guys !!!
Looking forward to see that huge gun Jeff !!!
Here's my update:
Small turrets are done, finished all the suspension springs.
Gave a coat of panzer grey on the wheels & small parts of the suspension.
I'll be working on the suspension & main turret at the same time. Hope to have more photos tomorrow !

Looks really good John! Can't wait to see more! I may have my hooks on one of those very soon!
I went on a tiny spending spree tonight. Looking for some 650mm tracks for both the IS-3M and the KV-122 I found the Trumpeter Workable Tracks. I am not gluing links together hoping for the right sag PLUS, the IS-3M has vinyl tracks... YUCK so I am set! I also bought a RB barrel and brake for the IS-3M AND while looking for tracks I found some for my Strv 103 that I built a few years ago that has the yucky vinyl tracks on, so that will get a nice upgrade for sure!
Working on the KV as we speak!

Here we go.
HMS Kent 1/350th, along with the WEM etch.
The hull is a single piece moulding, except for the bow sonar, alos shon is the ain deck moulding, looks good and test fit is pretty positive.
Sonar, strakes & prop shafts fitted, a little filler will be needed around the sonar, but otherwise so far so good.
And the right way up with the stern fitted.
More soon,
Si

Some great looking builds happening here
John : Those turrets look great!
Simon : be great seeing that ship go together, my late uncle built some amazing model ships in his time.
Well a typical cold and wet Melbourne day saw me once again working on my Sturer Emil.
Got the muffler fitted and roughed up, some upper hull details and made a good start on the fighting compartment.
Also if anyone can answer this for me, was the floor of these comprised of wood boards? as that's what it looks like in the few reference photos I have seen.
Also was the interior Panzer grey or just red primer as the instructions don't mention it

Ready, steady, finished . Well I'm almost done with the building stage. I thought I'd better stop before I go totally
OTT and start the painting tomorrow
I know for sure if the "Why Not" campaign takes off I shall choose one of these kits for it.
There is some filling going to be needed around the front of the hull and the mantlet cover needed some work as it just didn't want to sit right.
This the kits barrel with an RB muzzle brake, it's a dream

Some very nice builds going on.... am enjoying seeing what others are building and how they are progressing. Nice to see the ships sailing in...
My little build is going ok, mostly waiting for the paint to show up. I don't build car models so the amount of color in the interior of this vehicle is a bit of a shock. It isn't really painted like what I am used to in a military vehicle. More like the family car....
There is the body metal color -- in this case white -- then there are plastic OD panels, fabric OD panels, gray/black plastic parts, etc. Keeping it all straight is going to be a job, but for now it is all going to be a primer gray....
Once this lot is dry I can do what work it needs and then touch ups. Hopefully the final colors will arrive soon.
Later,
Bob

Thanks Jeff, here's todays update. I haven't done anything since Sunday because I have been attacked by a disgusting cold and couldn't handle the glue fumes on my chest
Running gear and Tracks are removable to ease painting. The tracks took me 75 minutes, 45 minutes cutting and cleaning, and 30 minutes gluing. They are just perfect, you have to be fast with them as the glue cures amazingly fast.
Then I noticed this
It looks like Trumpeter got the measurements wrong . After
I added the track guards, the casematt sits too high. Oh well better get some card and filler out
John shes looking cool. Watch the tracks I read that they are
a little troublesome, as in they don't fit together very well.
Simon it`s nice to see a ship for a change
Jason I did Emil in german grey, and then dry brushed the floor boards in a dirty wood tone to show heavy use
Bob so your on a speed build too eh? Looking good there
Paul

Here's where I am at tonight on my ASU-85. Just starting to do a little dry brushing and finishing touch ups on the basic colors before I proceed to Future, washes & weathering. Still waiting on my AM tracks to arrive but that's about it.

Well progress has been slow. I've just got my wheel set from DEF, photo 1.
I've been working on the frame, and have all the sub assembles ready to put together.
